CHAPTER 8
His training was done in two hours and he returned to his designated place once again, trying hard not to think back as to how terrible his life had become.
His lack of courage? It sounded more like something a main character would be told right before they end up being killed, at least if most authors would try to be realistic with most scenarios.
If he was to be guaranteed survival, then his best shot would be to stay out of trouble, and his sister was a great example of that. He knew her more than any other character in the series, as well as how much selfish she was.
However, one more thing troubled him greatly, the urge to to claw at anything he set his eyes on. It wasn't a great feeling and it was triggered involuntarily.
" I'm sure my mental health's okay as it is, so this must have something to do with that stupid cat." He thought, approaching the door to his room.
He walked straight towards the cupboard at the edge of his room and opened it up to take another look at the list he had made when he was still two to three years old. Some of them were engraved into his mind, but most were insignificant compared, so much so that he would forget them.
He needed to grasp at every source of power he could before going for the big guns, and it would surely be a while before he would be able to get his hands on his most desired artifact.
On the list, his eyes were fixed on the closest, yet one of the toughest areas. " The mystic waterfall," A waterfall believed to have lord Mystic's very own mystic sword sealed within it.
Only with the blood of the main family bloodline could it be unlocked, and one must still pass the test before one would be able to get their hands on the divine weapon, one past the sixth tier.
" Then there's the shadow cloak, Ring of pain, death scythe etcetera, but there's not a single one of them I can get a reach of at the moment. Each of those items is quite rare and would cost a fortune if someone managed to seize them before me." He thought, slowly placing back the piece of paper as he heaved a sigh in defeat.
" And would you be needing all of those for?" A familiar voice came from behind him.
He gasped in shock, turning around to see his sister leaning over him with an intent glare at the piece of paper he was holding a moment ago. She pulled it away from his grip without hesitation and began reading further on what was written.
He didn't bother trying to drag the paper away from her and simply sat up, crossing his legs against each other while looking up at her.
" Just give it back as soon as you're done reading."
" Not until you tell why you wrote down all these rare treasures and sacred areas. I'm surprised that you know of their existence, but knowing as much as every treasure that can be found within them?" She asked, momentarily turning her gaze towards him.
She was undeniably attracted to what his brother had written and, more so, his reasons for writing them. They both never got along well, so she knew that merely asking him why wouldn't bear her with any answers.
He stood up from the floor at that moment and held onto the piece of paper while looking up at her, straight into her eyes.
" Let it go, okay? I don't how any of this can benefit you, or why you would even know why I did it... How did you even manage to get inside my room without me noticing?" He said, trying to show a lack of emotion.
What he was doing was nothing short of how he dealt with nuisances like her and she was the only nuisance in his life. She paused for a moment as a smile slowly went up her face and she proceeded to slowly let go of the piece of paper.
" And don't you think you'll need help getting a hold of everything thing on that list? And even then, you won't need all of them, will you?" She asked, trying to get a hold of his attention.
He took her words into consideration but didn't let them faze him as he quickly put the list back where it was and locked the cupboard. Slowly, he turned around once again to look at her.
" I'm leaving." He said, staring intently at her.
She quickly averted her gaze and headed towards the exit to his room. He did the only thing he could do, show her out of the building.
He let out a huge sigh immediately after she left as he slowly walked back to the sofa in the living room when he heard a voice.
It sounded sinister and surreal, prompting him to quickly turn around in an attempt to see where it was coming from.
" I'm in your head you fool." The voice said once again.
It sounded familiar, yet so foreign, but he was able to determine where it was coming from and a good guess as to who owned it after its last words.
" It's long enough, so I think it's time you left my body."
" Switch with me."
" Wha..."
Before he could mouth his words completely, he felt himself fall into a long daze. He felt conscious at the same time, fully aware of his situation and yet unable to do anything about it.
But his daze was only a while, and it wasn't long before he regained consciousness once again, but the harm had already been done.
He was standing waist level in a body of water with many unconscious guards lying around, the last one falling down just as he regained control of his body.
" I couldn't help but hear you mention something about the mystic waterfall... I know you'll mind, but could you open that gate."
His heart skipped a beat as his gaze slowly trailed towards the slope of the waterfall, his thoughts on what lay behind the cascading water.
