"Jie ha ha ha, let's have a carnival!"
The once lively park fell into eerie silence as visitors and performers looked up. Hovering in the sky was a strange man clad in dark green armor, mounted on a flight machine that spread its limbs like a bat. His appearance was bizarre against the backdrop of vibrant ribbons and balloons.
He wore a grotesque helmet that obscured his face, with cruel light green eyes peering down. From his elevated vantage point, he roared, "Go to hell! This is a gift!!!"
With that, he hurled several pumpkin-shaped bombs from his bag. The explosions were deafening, sending flames and debris everywhere.
Terrorist attack!!
Panic spread among the crowd as they scattered, aimlessly fleeing in every direction, desperately seeking safety.
Boom!
The relentless explosions continued, toppling buildings in the park. Rubble fell like rain, casting a dark shadow of fear over the entire carnival. Screams pierced the air, and the once-celebratory streamers and stage were ravaged by the chaos.
Xu Mo looked up at the Green Goblin, who continued to drop bombs from the sky, and thought, I didn't expect the Iron Man plot to intersect with Spider-Man's story instead.
His sharp eyes quickly spotted Peter, who had disappeared from view. Peter must have gone to change into his costume, but Xu Mo wasn't sure where Jia Li was.
"Xu Mo, let's go!" Gwen shouted, grabbing his arm in fear.
Norman Osborn, now the Green Goblin, had made the park his battleground. Xu Mo and Gwen were still at the entrance, momentarily safe from the destruction.
"Hold on, I'm looking for someone."
Xu Mo scanned the area and finally spotted Jia Li, still sitting at a table not far away, blissfully eating. The people around her had given her a wide berth, as if she were an invisible force field.
Even the smoke from the explosions seemed to part around her.
Xu Mo marveled at Jia Li's abilities, which seemed to protect her from harm in an almost mystical way.
"Stop."
Peter, now in his Spider-Man suit, swung through the chaos, using his webbing to shield the civilians from danger. Green Goblin noticed Spider-Man and, with a twisted smile, aimed his flight device toward him. He hurled pumpkin bombs, and the shockwaves sent Spider-Man crashing into a building.
"Spider-Man! Come and accept my gift."
Green Goblin then unleashed a torrent of bullets from his machine gun, creating a cloud of dust and debris. The building was soon riddled with craters.
Peter, with his agility and spider sense, managed to evade the gunfire and approach Green Goblin from behind, pulling down the flight device with his webbing. The two were locked in a fierce battle, each using their strengths to their advantage.
Amid the chaos, Xu Mo made his way to Jia Li and lifted her with a mix of irritation and urgency. "It's a mess out here, and you're still eating."
"Just a bit more, just a bit more. They're so weak; they can't touch me," Jia Li replied, kicking her legs in mild protest.
Xu Mo frowned, knowing Jia Li's abilities made her nearly untouchable, but also that she was supposed to act like an ordinary person in public. He sighed and said, "If you don't hurry up, I won't bring you next time."
Jia Li continued munching on her snack, seemingly unperturbed by the surrounding chaos.
Gwen, who had followed Xu Mo, watched Jia Li with confusion. "Who is she?"
"My sister, I found her," Xu Mo explained.
"Hmph."
Jia Li, hearing this, snorted in disdain but kept eating.
As Xu Mo, Jia Li, and Gwen made their way toward safety, a familiar voice cut through the commotion.
"Xu Mo! Xu Mo, help us!"
Turning back, Xu Mo saw Harry and Mary trapped on a balcony, desperately signaling for help. Spider-Man, entangled with Green Goblin, was unable to assist them, and the building was in severe jeopardy. The floor was cracking, threatening to collapse.
Harry and Mary huddled in a corner, their pleas for help falling on deaf ears as the building crumbled around them. The situation was dire, and their chances of escape seemed slim.
