Chapter 17 - Chapter 16 - Savior?

"Yah yah yah."

Xu Mo, unfazed by the disaster unfolding in Central Park, remained indifferent. After all, his sense of good and evil was neutral—neither positive nor negative. He didn't feel particularly invested in the chaos.

Yet, he couldn't ignore Harry's plight. Harry had been kind to him and supported him, including buying a hundred juvenile jumpsuits as a gesture of support, as Peter had mentioned.

Turning to Gwen, Xu Mo instructed, "You take Jia Li and get to safety. Don't split up."

Then he turned to Jia Li. "You understand?"

"Alright."

Jia Li's casual response made Xu Mo smile bitterly. Although he asked Gwen to look after Jia Li, it seemed more likely that the opposite would be true.

Gwen grabbed Jia Li's shoulders and hurried away, glancing back at Xu Mo's retreating figure. Her heart fluttered at his willingness to help despite the danger. Xu Mo's actions, so brave and selfless in the face of such chaos, deeply moved her.

Unbeknownst to Xu Mo, he was being seen as a hero in this moment. He had evolved from someone who might have hesitated to act to someone ready to test his strength and face challenges. He knew that adapting to such a dangerous environment was essential for future battles with powerful foes.

In the midst of the crowd's frenzy, Xu Mo, who had been training since arriving in the Marvel universe, made his way to the balcony without hesitation.

"Harry, give me your hand."

Xu Mo reached out and pulled Harry to safety. Mary was barely hanging on as the cracks in the floor widened, threatening to send her plummeting.

It's a daunting task for ordinary people to pull up an adult with one arm, but for Xu Mo, equipped with level 1 strange power, it was manageable.

Once he had successfully pulled them both to safety, Xu Mo led them out of the building. From a distance, they witnessed Green Goblin mercilessly attacking the two shareholders, leaving Harry in shock.

As they made their way out of the park, Green Goblin, now more fueled by his desire for destruction, noticed them. His murderous intent had escalated, and Harry was no longer a concern for him.

He threw a pumpkin bomb directly at Xu Mo and the others. Spider-Man, who had been trying to intercept, was thwarted by Green Goblin's flight device, which had been prepared for this.

"Watch out!"

Xu Mo and the others heard the bomb hurtling toward them and turned in alarm. Harry and Mary's faces turned to panic as the bomb approached. Xu Mo, however, remained calm.

He leaped toward the bomb, executing a precise whip kick. The pumpkin bomb shot away like a cannonball, hitting Green Goblin directly.

Boom!

The explosion engulfed Green Goblin, sending him reeling. The force of the blast created a wave that jolted him from his destructive trance.

"What!"

Green Goblin's cry of pain was muffled by his armor, but the impact jolted him from his sadistic rampage. He quickly regained his bearings and attempted to flee.

Spider-Man, recognizing the opportunity, was forced to abandon his pursuit of Green Goblin to ensure the safety of the civilians.

"Xu Mo, you're amazing! That kick was so impressive," Harry exclaimed, his voice filled with admiration as he clambered to safety.

Mary Jane's eyes sparkled with excitement, clearly impressed by Xu Mo's heroic act.

The kick had been no simple feat. Xu Mo had harnessed his level 1 monster power to execute it with such precision that Green Goblin had barely had time to react.

"Get out of here quickly."

Xu Mo waved them off. Harry and Mary, still stunned, hurried into Harry's car and drove away from the danger zone.

Police sirens blared as authorities finally arrived, followed by fire trucks and ambulances.

As Xu Mo returned to the street, Gwen rushed up to him, her face filled with concern. "Xu Mo, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine. Nothing to worry about."

Gwen, visibly relieved, checked him over while Xu Mo's gaze lingered on her. Their eyes met, creating a charged moment between them.

The atmosphere was thick with unspoken emotions when a middle-aged man in a police uniform approached.

"Gwen, where are you? Are you alright?" the man asked urgently.

Both Xu Mo and Gwen's tender moment was interrupted. They turned to face the newcomer.

"Dad."

The man was George Stacy, the chief of the New York City Police Department.

"Hello, I'm Xu Mo, Gwen's friend."

Jia Li, who had been somewhat neglected, looked at the scene with a smirk. "Heh, man."
