Chapter 15 - The Reality for Summoners (2)

The next morning greeted Leonard with a fresh sense of purpose. After purchasing food supplies, he stored them inside his and set off for the tower to learn more about the system. As expected, Yulaf wasn't on duty that morning, so Leonard decided he'd bother him later after his raid on the tower.

'The Hunter's Guild is for normal people, and the Player Association is for Players... I need to learn the main difference. I mean, it's pretty obvious, what am I even thinking?'

However, there was a concern Leonard hadn't fully realized: how he could live as a normal human, not as a Player. He didn't want others to know he was a Player at first glance, as it could put his life in danger.

Worried, he drew on the fantasy books he had read in his first life. In those stories, any outsider would hide their identity until they understood the world. So, it seemed like a reasonable approach.

'But the only downside is that it might take away the fun.'

Fun or safety—Leonard had to choose. But he wasn't entirely sure that keeping a low profile would guarantee his safety. The uncertainty of this strategy stemmed from the fact that it was inspired by a fantasy story, not something he could verify in reality.

[Duration: 88 days]

Leonard glanced at the days remaining for his mission. He wasn't too worried, knowing that Zeus could easily fly him to complete the mission. So, the previous concern about money for travel wasn't important—his magic points were.

There was a need to visit the tower regularly, not just to level up, but to find ways to increase his magic points.

'Maybe I'll figure it out later,' Leonard thought as he began searching for a chanak.

The fun he sought was in the challenge. Although his previous life had been mundane and dreary, there was no real excitement. But now, he could pursue something that made him feel truly alive.

Despite the practical benefits of his cautious approach, Leonard couldn't help but see himself as a bit foolish for wanting safety earlier. Yet, he knew it was necessary—he needed to learn skills that didn't rely solely on Zeus.

'There's no way I'm going to believe that being a Summoner means I'm weak without my summon. Tsk.'

When Leonard found a chanak, he began concocting a plan using his surroundings. After formulating one, he set about immobilizing the creature.

Chanaks were fast monsters with poor senses, so Leonard used that to his advantage. Slowly approaching the chanak with a large rock, he raised it high and then brought it down to smack the creature on its head.

Plak!

A grin spread across Leonard's face as he saw the blood oozing from the chanak. He kept smashing the rock down until the creature lay lifeless.

'That's what I'm talking about! There's no way I'm weak.'

However, Leonard hadn't anticipated that he had stumbled into an area where chanaks gathered—or perhaps they had some way of calling others? Before he knew it, he was surrounded by multiple chanaks coming at him from all directions.

Leonard felt the air leave his lungs, his knees growing weak.

"I refuse to believe that a Summoner is weak! That's impossible! I wasn't born fragile! Before I became a Summoner, I could handle the farm on my own, even as a kid."

"Oh boy... come here, you ugly-looking creatures. Don't think I can't take you down with this rock," Leonard muttered, his voice tinged with frustration.

Summoning every ounce of courage, he prepared to fight, but his resolve wavered when the chanak he had just beaten to a pulp shakily stood up again.

"What the hell!" he shouted in surprise, spinning on his heel and sprinting away at full speed. "Fuck! Zeus, get over here!"

With a dramatic entrance, a lightning bolt struck down a chanak as Zeus appeared. Leonard, emboldened, skidded to a stop and turned to face the pursuing creatures.

"Kill them, Zeus."

"What kind of mess have you gotten yourself into? Did you stumble into a chanak camp? How on earth did you attract this many of them?" Zeus asked, his confusion evident.

Leonard straightened up, trying to look proud. "I gathered them for you."

Zeus clicked his tongue in disbelief. "Don't lie to me." He then turned to the horde of chanaks and began zapping them one by one with minimal effort.

Leonard, meanwhile, summoned his status board to check how much his magic points had decreased.

[Magic: 50/55]

[Magic: 47/55]

[Magic: 45/55]

[Experience Points +10]

[Experience Points +10]

[Experience Points +10]

[Experience Points +10]

Leonard's magic points gradually decreased until all the chanaks lay dead, bringing him a wave of relief.

"That's even better," Leonard remarked, noting that his magic points hadn't dropped much. "I still have 45 magic points left, even after you killed…" He glanced around, counting the fallen chanaks on the forest floor.

"The total is 40," Zeus confirmed.

"That's really the best!" Leonard exclaimed with a grin. "Let's do that more often."

[Experience: 1290/15000]

'Oh… I'll try the Experience Box,' Leonard thought after seeing his experience points, retrieving a small box from his .

"What's that?" Zeus asked, squinting as he observed the Experience Box.

"The guard at the entrance gave this to me. He said it can give me 500 experience points."

Zeus looked intrigued but remained silent, watching as Leonard easily broke the box with his strength. A small light emerged from the box, significantly boosting his experience points.

A familiar click resonated within Leonard, filling him with a sense of accomplishment.

[Level up! Level 3!]

Leonard then proceeded to check his status board.

[Basic Stats]

[Health: 140/140]

[Magic: 60/60]

[Strength: 11 (+1)]

[Defense: 5]

[Agility: 5]

[Wisdom: 9 (+1)]

"Hmm…" Leonard nodded as he took in the changes to his . "At least it shows I can still gain strength over time. But the increase in was just one point. Could it be that I only earn two stat points per level up? It makes me wonder, with how unfair the system is to Summoner classes, do other classes get more than two stat points?"

"You leveled up again?" Zeus asked.

"Yes," Leonard replied, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. The fear of struggling to level up eased. "Thanks, Zeus. You've taken away my worry about my magic points draining just from summoning you."

"No worries, I am the king of the Greek gods after all," Zeus said with a confident smile.
