Though it was suspicious that the demons weren't swarming the Academy after their sudden arrival, finding out why wasn't important right now—getting to safety was.
Leonard had no intention of avoiding the labyrinth. Its position and condition could offer some protection, even if there were gaps.
However, to ensure his safety, he knew he had to deal with the problem in front of him.
