Chapter 11 - Clash

"I have about 82 seconds left before my technique ends. Even if its soul isn't in its body, for the next 82 seconds, I'Il slice and dice it until it's unable to regenerate." Eddy thinks to inwardly himself. He smirks, his face portraying a confident look despite the throbbing pain coursing through his body. His wounds, which were bleeding profusely, only fuels his determination to end the possessed. He stands his ground, prepared to battle against the possessed.

There is no turning back now; he has come too far to retreat to HQ without exorcising this malevolent entity. Therefore, he needed to exorcise it, not just for the sake of exorcism, but to satisfy his pride.

Eddy's relentless assault on the possessed continues, his katana ablur to the eyes of anyone who could keep up with the fight, as he slashes thr possessed into pieces. Despite its attempts to regenerate, the creature's healing ability gradually begins to wane, which in turn spells victory for the exorcist.

"I'm doing it... it's regenerating slower. If I can keep this up, then I'lIl be the victor." He reassures himself, maintaining the unyielding barrage of attacks.

The possessed is at its weakest, having already fought off two elders and a high-ranked member, pushing each to their limits. It had put up a formidable fight, but now, its regeneration speed is receding at an accelerating rate. Eddy's victory seems imminent.

What happened next was as unexpected as it was shocking. As its regeneration speed plummets drastically, the chunks of the

possessed rapidly merge, growing into the torso of Jeremy's possessed form. Eddy stands still, astonished, and his eyes widening as he gapes in disbelief.

"How?!" he thinks, his mind racing.

Without hesitation, Eddy charges forward, intent on slashing the reformed creature into pieces once again. But as he moves, the possessed forges a katana identical to Eddy's and blocks his attack, completing the regeneration of its face in the process.

"No! It bested me!" Eddy thinks, grinding his teeth in frustration.

The possessed had cleverly suppressed its regenerative abilities, lulling Eddy into a false sense of security, before concentrating its healing power on its torso and above. Thereby enhancing its regeneration rate.

"I let my guard down, and now it's..."

Eddy thinks, taking a few steps back.

"This isn't the time to panic... I still have about 36 seconds left before my buff is gone, and it's yet to regenerate its lower torso region. So, it's basically a one-on-one against a crippled foe.I mustn't underestimate it anymore. I'lIl use my remaining seconds to buy her enough time to decipher the location of its soul, even if it costs me my life." he resolves, instantly launching himself forward again his slashes precise and unrelenting, but as he moves, the possessed forges a katana identical to Eddy's right from thin air and blocks each and every one of his slashes to it,completing the regeneration of its face in the

process.

His slashes are precise and unrelenting, but the possessed, employing its forged weapon, blocks each one, its face gleaming with malevolent intelligence.

Eddy's resolve hardens. This battle was far from over, and he knows he must give everything he has to ensure victory, but the real question was, was what he could give really enough to stop the fiend?

"No way.. it's regenerated enough to keep up with Eddy's attacks. If this keeps up, Eddy's technique will run out." Damian thinks to

himself, anxiety creeping into his mind.

He turns urgently to Sky, his voice tinged with desperation as he hopes for a completion in her technique

"Oi... how much longer do you need?"

"A few more seconds... at best." she replies, her focus unwavering.

"If Eddy can keep it busy, I could land the finishing blow on its soul... but, can she really use her technique twice in such a short period of time? It's basically impossible for an exorcist to use their technique continuously, and yet.."

Damian's thoughts race as he watches the intense battle unfold before him.

Eddy and the possessed continue their fierce exchange of blows. Eddy manages to severe its right arm and raises his blade, poised to strike again. The possessed instinctively raises its blade in defense, but Eddy, right at that momend, disappears in a flash, reappearing behind it to deliver a swift rinn-charged blow. However, the possessed vanishes, only to reappear in the air with its legs fully regenerated.

"It's regenerated its legs back? What the hell is this possessed made of?!"

Eddy thinks, charging towards it as it slowly descends, pulled down by gravity. They clash again, however, Eddy maneuvers through their clash and swiftly cuts through it repeatedly, but as it had occured before, the creature continues to regenerate.

"It really doesn't know when to give up, does it?"

Damian thinks, frustration gnawing at him.

"Technique activation: Ultimate Decipher." Sky mutters, her voice barely audible. The words send chills down Damian's spine. The moment they had been waiting for had finally arrived, or so he thought. Sky suddenly vomits a torrent of blood, having pushed past her limits. It was an advantage seeing that on the normal day when an exorcist used his or her technique twice, the exorcist would drop dead in that instance. Sky however was very, very lucky.

Damian, wastes no time to rushes to her side for aid.

"Sky?! Don't push yourse-"

"We're on it!" she mutters, interrupting Damien's speech.

"On what?" Damian asks, bewildered by Sky's statement.

"Its soul." she coughs aloud, as she struggles to speak.

"What do you mean?".

"This entire structure, this house is its soul. That's why it feels pain when we destroy parts of it... how didn't I figure it out sooner?" she replies, her voice weak but resolute.

At that very moment that Damian recalls the moment he had smashed through the floor of the house, sending both him and the possessed crashing to the ground floor. The possessed had screeched in pain, albeit lightly. He had thought of it as a normal screech from the fiend but now he understood why.

"So if I destroy the house, it dies?" Damian asked his mind racing.

"Not exactly... there's a core at the center of the mansion, consisting of nerves that spread throughout. If we destroy it, then we'll win." Sky explains.

"That's easy enough"

"Thank you, Sky. We couldn't have gotten this far without you, and for that, l commend you. Brace yourself... because things are about to get out of hand." With resolve, Damian heads towards the center of the mansion, charging his sledgehammer

with his rinn. He raises it high, ready to bring it down with devastating force. The possessed, locked in combat with Eddy, senes Damian's preparation and rinn charge and charges towards him, attempting to behead him with his forged katana.

Luckily, Eddy intercepts the attack, blocking the possessed's blade just in time.

"I have about 11 seconds left. Is that enough for whatever you're doing?" Eddy asks, his voice strained.

Damian, taking a loud deep breath, confidently replies with a resolute voice.

"No need."

He then smashes his sledgehammer, charged with rinn, into the ground. The impact is so bombastic, causing the entire mansion collapsing as though a bomb had gone off.

The possessed lets out an unearthly scream in agony as the structure around them crumbles, its regeneration faltering in the wake of the massive destruction. Eddy and Damian stand amidst the ruins, breathing heavily. They might have been injuried but they were victorious, that was all that mattered. The battle had been fierce, but their determination and teamwork had led them to victory.
