Chereads / A Plant Parasite Is Attached To Me / Chapter 12 - The Journey Begins…Tomorrow.

Chapter 12 - The Journey Begins…Tomorrow.

After Emily's dad left, Seth continued speaking with her occasionally Thally would playfully tease them both. After that Seth decided to go home early.

The next day, Seth did the same thing, training with Emily and perfecting his basic abilities, they trained for about a few weeks and after that, the day of their Admission to the Academy was a day away.

[Hey BoilingBlood, tomorrow is the day we go to the Academy huh]

Seth was currently chatting with his online friend, and both of them decided to talk instead of playing a game this Sunday. [Yeah it may be hard for us to play again, Welp, since it's like that, might as well introduce myself, My name is Sebastien Dera, Nice to meet you]

Seth then tilted his head in confusion, wasn't the Dera family a powerhouse that usually stays stationary on one of the best planets?

The entire thing was to seclude themselves and train their young ones, out of the the Ten major families, they are the most brutal.

[Wow, it is surprising to meet a Dera family member playing a game, My name is Seth Williams, nice to meet you] Seth typed.

[Well let's just say it's complicated, Some of us don't agree with some family members and things lead to other things, enough of that nice to meet you, Seth]

Thally observed as the two chatted, currently, she was more focused on fixing some issues going on within Seth's body. ' Sigh…fully stabilizing his body took some time and a lot of energy, At least I can be more helpful now, didn't expect his hair to mutate like that though, thankfully he is fully integrated with me'

The first time she merged with him, she told him his body was strange, the reason she said that was because it would have poisoned him and they both would have died, her non-sentient form had two choices, die together or merge to survive after she chose the second option she gained access to all of this memories which made her develop consciousness and then recognized Seth and her as one entity.

But the problem was when Seth's dad gave him that potion, he most definitely knew she was inside of him at that moment, the potion pretty much enhanced his body which in turn made it more poisonous for Thally.

When his dad saw that Thally adapted to it, he decided not to so he wouldn't harm his child, after some days he noticed that the integration between Thally and Seth would collapse and saw Thally secretly trying to help him.

Seth's father then gave him those injections to 'sleep well' but intact it was something that made sure that Seth and Thally stayed stable.

Thally took advantage of it and fully stabilized his body therefore making them both become one, Thally is still a parasite though and she can infect other plants but not humans.

Seths fathers ability is called, 'True Observations, and it allows him to perceive the intricate workings of both living beings and inanimate objects at a molecular level. This ability lets him see the potential interactions and outcomes of different substances, which is how he was able to detect Thally's presence and her attempts to stabilize Seth's body.

But his father gave him the potion the moment he came home so how was it possible he knew Thally was inside him, Well maybe they will find out or he is just overprotective and has cameras all over his house secretly monitoring everything.

His mother's ability was a bit different, she could make ropes of green energy that could transfer, collect, or steal life force of living matter.

After Seth finished chatting with Sebastien, he went to the bathroom to wash his face, as he arrived at the sink he took a moment to appreciate his appearance. "Is it me or do I look fairer than usual"

"Stop praising yourself" Thally slowly rolled her small eyes, and Seth chuckled. He combed his light brown hair to make it look less messy, his green eyes stared back at him and his face had a small amount of fat on it.

Seth has a slightly slim build, but he is stronger compared to some people, After he is done with that, Seth goes downstairs and goes into his dad's lab.

"What do you mean you didn't find evidence?" Seth's father asked in a slightly angry tone, he was currently on his phone.

His face twitched as he heard the next few words. [William you may be one of the smartest people in the world, but you have to give up on some things, It's been five years and we still haven't found any evidence of your false declarations on Illuminati Labs]

"…Sigh, you know what since you guys won't help, I may just destroy your little council," He said in a cold and distant voice, his eyes changed into a dark purple, Was he threatening the council? Seth thought, he knew this wasn't the first time he did that but he was confused as to why he was angrier this time than the others.

After hanging up the phone, William let out a long sigh, he turned around and found Seth staring at him. "Ahh, Seth sorry you had to see that, So are you excited to go to the academy tomorrow."

Seth raised an eyebrow at him. " yeah I am, I'm going to miss you both"

"Well you can still call us from time to time, also I will have to educate you on the academy," William said putting his arm on his shoulders.

Seth blinked in confusion. "…Ok"

"Firstly, the academy is not a nice and bright place you will see a lot of deaths, Corruption, abduction, frames, and the rest of the norm, Secondly do not make friends with someone just because they are nice, they are most likely plotting behind you, lastly and foremost" At the last part, his voice became cold and deadly.

"If you meet someone from Illuminai labs, Run if you can't, do what you have to do" Seth nodded, absorbing his father's advice, though the coldness in William's voice left him uneasy. He knew his father had a dark past with Illuminate Labs, but the level of anger William exhibited this time felt different, more personal. Seth wondered what might have happened to make his father so much more intense than usual.

"Thanks, Dad," Seth replied, trying to sound confident. "I'll be careful."

While that was happening, on a distant planet Serid was in her room, it had been a few weeks since she had gotten off the planet. "Sigh…I want to go hunting or even go meet that strange human, I wonder if the rest of his species have abilities similar to the Star Factor"

Her tail occasionally swung side by side, her boredom was thick making the flame in her tail dim, he eyes a strange spiral pattern, it seemed almost hypnotic.

"I wonder how the progress is conquering the Avidiects, I should ask the commander" She picked up a small circular device and then tapped on it. A Hologram of the horned woman appeared.

She looked at her with a stern expression. "What do you want Serid"

"Oh come on, don't be like that i promised you I will not interfere with others' duties and take a break even though you did tell me to assemble a team" Her voice was laced with frustration.

The hologram flickered for a moment. "Your flame was almost extinguished last week, you could have died and wiped out your team in the process"

Serid pouted. "I had it under control, it's not like I don't have any trump cards you just placed a limiter on me"

She said showing the black bracelet on her arm. " Yes either that or we keep you stranded in an inhabitable zone and let you fend for yourself"

The commander's eyes twitched. "Why did you call me?"

Serid smirked. "Well I wanted to know how the war progress was going"

"Sigh…We underestimated the enemy. The Avidiects are proving to be more resilient than we anticipated. Their ability to adapt to our tactics and counter them is becoming a significant problem. We've suffered more casualties than expected, and it's slowing our advance. But it only just slowed us, nothing more nothing less"

Serid's smirk faded slightly, replaced by a look of concern. "That's not good. Maybe I should get involved—"

"No," the commander cut her off sharply. "You've done enough, Serid. We can't afford to lose you. You're one of our strongest assets, but you need to recover fully before we let you back on the battlefield. For now, focus on regaining your strength."

Serid clenched her fists, the flame on her tail flickering with agitation. "I hate being sidelined like this. I feel useless just sitting here while everyone else is out there fighting."

The commander's expression softened. "I understand how you feel, but sometimes the best way to help is by taking care of yourself. So I have arranged for you to teach the younger generations of our race for a month, and then you can go back to your battle thirsty habits.

Serid's frustration was palpable, but she knew better than to argue further. The commander was right; she needed to regain her strength before she could return to the front lines. Still, the idea of teaching the younger generation instead of fighting felt like a punishment.

"Fine," Serid grumbled, crossing her arms. "But only for a month. After that, I want to be back in the action."

The commander nodded. "Understood. I'll have the arrangements made. You'll start your teaching duties tomorrow."

With a final nod, Serid ended the call, the hologram flickering out of existence. She tossed the device onto her bed and let out a frustrated sigh. Teaching wasn't her strong suit, but if it meant she could get back to the battlefield sooner, she'd do it.

Back on Earth, Thally was lazily sitting on Seth's shoulder while making four leaves she grew on her hand unnatural rotate.

Watching Seth try to forcefully his abilities was boring. "You know, for a plant parasite like me, controlling plants is natural…if you well you infect them? Anyways what I am trying to say is not to try hard, you are wasting energy and making your hair grow unnaturally fast"

Seth paused, taking in Thally's advice. He could feel the strain in his body as he attempted to manipulate the vines growing from his hair. The more he pushed, the more erratic the growth became, threatening to spiral out of control. He sighed and let the vines recede, his hair returning to its normal state.

"If you're so knowledgeable why don't you help" he asked her gloomily.

"Okay," She snapped her fingers making Seth's body fall on the floor limply.

"What did you do?" he asked curiously.

Thally was hot on his shoulder and climbed up to his face. "I stopped all flow of energy in your body, I want you to manually do that and lift yourself, think of it as a baby taking its first steps"

"And how do I do that" He asked with a slightly irritated tone.

Thally happily smiled. "Well, how do threes live their lives, how do flowers grow, how do they make pollen, How do plants observe their surroundings how do they respond to changes in their environment, and most importantly, what is a parasite?" Thally's voice was both playful and instructive. "You need to think like a plant, Seth. Slow down, feel the flow of life, and let it guide you rather than force it."

Seth lay there, eyes narrowed. "…Is this revenge for me poking you and do you do this when i am asleep?"

Thally's grin widened, clearly amused by Seth's suspicion. "Maybe it is, and maybe I do. But seriously, Seth, this is about understanding the nature of our connection. You're not just a human anymore you've got a bit of plant in you now, thanks to me. Embrace it."

Seth took a deep breath, trying to focus on the sensations within his body. The usual energy that flowed through him was stilled, like a river that had been dammed. He could feel the quiet hum of life beneath the surface, almost like the slow and steady growth of roots beneath the earth. It was strange, alien even, but not entirely unpleasant.

"Alright," Seth muttered to himself. "Think like a plant."

He imagined himself as a tree, deeply rooted in the ground, drawing strength from the earth. Slowly, he tried to guide the energy within him, coaxing it back into motion, but not with force. Instead, he focused on the steady, rhythmic pulse he could feel just beneath the surface, letting it flow naturally.

The sensation was subtle at first, a gentle warmth spreading from his core to his limbs. He visualized the energy as sap, rising slowly but surely, and soon, he could feel his fingers twitch. Encouraged, Seth continued, letting the energy fill him like water being drawn up through roots.

Finally, with a soft exhale, he managed to move one hand, then the other. Bit by bit, he regained control of his body, lifting himself off the ground and standing up. It was a slow process, but the effort felt strangely satisfying.

Thally watched with a mix of pride and amusement as Seth stood, a smirk playing on her lips. "See? Not so hard, right?"

Seth shook his head, still feeling the lingering effects of the exercise. "Yeah, but don't think I didn't notice how much you enjoyed watching me struggle."

Thally shrugged playfully. "What can I say? It's not every day I get to teach you something. Besides, you must learn to rely on the connection we share. It'll make things a lot easier

Seth picked the small parasite on the ground and hung her upside down. "Yeah maybe I should swallow you to ensure the connection"

Thally rolled her eyes and put her arms on her chest. "Well, this is just a piece of your body, if you swallow me I can make another, though I might make you pay for it later."

Seth chuckled, letting Thally dangle for a moment before gently setting her back on his shoulder. "Alright, alright. Point taken. But next time, maybe a little heads-up before you paralyze me?"

Thally gave a mock salute. "I'll consider it."

(A/N: Hello, I took some advice and made this chapter with much thought, though the reason I timed skip was probably because it would have take ten more chapters of repetitive things to get into the main arc, Also thanks for reading my novel)
