Chapter 13: Dali's Turn to Shine!
What waited for the group once they reached the next stop were the two fellas, one of whom looked lost and the other was cursing and hitting the walls around them.
The room wasn't wide, but had more than enough space for all of them to comfortably walk around, the only thing note worthy about it was the huge metal gate blocking the exit on the wall right in front of them.
"Fucking Bastard! How could he order me around like that?! FUCK!" shouted the first one as he hit the wall to the right of the entrance, his voice strong enough to make the whole room vibrate, forcing those in front of the group to close their ears.
He was a middle aged man with rich facial hair, messy hair, and tired eyes. He was wearing regular clothes, a white tank top and some jeans; however, he looked like someone who did nothing with his life, living his daily life in depression.
"Ugh! What's with my luck? Fuck me!" The second one was on his knees, crying with his hands on the floor.
He was young compared to the other one but he still looked older than Zen.
His outfit was a grey hoodie and some wide black pants, and his face looked like that of someone who was not-too-serious about anything, a happy-go-lucky guy who just went through too much.
He got up to look at the group when they entered and his eyes glowed green for a second, like an animal on the night. The group couldn't see him very well but they could still see his smooth black hair. Zen thought he looked like an Asian back on earth, once again feeling nostalgic.
"WHO ARE YOU?!" The middle aged man on the side shouted as he took a defensive position once he saw the group.
"Calm down; we mean no harm; if anything, we're the ones to save you from that mind controlling freak." Alex, spotting someone who was around his age and close to him in mentality, took the first step in calming him down.
"Are you expecting me to thank you or something?" was the reply Alex got from the middle aged man.
"Look, man, we're only here to help and try to survive together, you don't have to act like this." Max walked to the front and addressed the man, making the latter back down and delve deep in thought.
"I'm Alex. What's your name?" Alex, seeing this, took the initiative to introduce himself, trying to take the chance and get closer to the man.
"Satoru." The middle-aged man replied, looking down, not able to make eye contact with someone he treated so wrongly.
'A Japanese name? Ah man, I'm starting to regret doing what I did.' Zen thought in his mind, his eyes trailing all the way to the second young man.
"What about you?" Zen took this chance to ask the young man who he was, inserting him in the conversation.
"Ah, Me? I'm Yu." He replied, looking at Zen with dead eyes.
"Nah, man, not that, your name." Max, whose world had no culture similar to the Asians, thought that Yu didn't quite understand.
"No, Yu is his name." Zen clarified as he looked at Max.
"Ah. My bad, man." He apologized, slightly embarrassed.
"So, what's the situation over here?" Sabrina asked, looking at the two new teammates they had.
"That guy used us for our traits, my night vision, and his war cry. He even killed our other teammate after controlling the first out of the cafeteria we were spawned in." Yu spoke, explaining almost every detail they needed to know, in addition to some that might be useful.
"FUCK! Don't remind me! That bastard controlled us the moment he had the chance; he didn't even wait for a second." Satoru cursed, remembering the hell they went through at the hands of the Mind Controller, or rather, his trait.
"Calm down, he's no longer here. What do you know about this room?" Zen tried to change the subject to something much more important.
"I don't know, we've been here for quite a while and we still don't understand. The previous room we were in required us to use loud noise to open, though. So it's probably something related to our traits." Satoru replied, looking at the ground.
'It seems he's not planning on forgetting what happened anytime soon. Understandable; anyone going through all of this at once would be like him.' Alex looked at Satoru and thought.
"Guys." Dali, who was calm all this time, called, gaining the attention of the group.
"What is it, Dali?" Melissa asked, wondering what he wanted to say.
"I'm hearing some voices; do you guys do too?" He asked, looking at the large gate that blocked their path forward.
"No, I don't. Are you sure you're not hearing stuff?" Melissa, who asked Dali to speak, said, doubting him.
"I don't feel or hear anything either." Alex, who had the Danger Sense trait, said, further confirming Melissa's thoughts and making her, who already had a low image of Dali, think less of him.
"No, I can hear something." Zen spoke, making everybody listen to what he was going to say. Being the most trustworthy of the group had its benefits.
"Right? I can hear a bunch of voices speaking behind the door." Dali, getting excited, exclaimed.
"It's not people, though; I only hear squeaking; they might be rats." Zen said, looking at Dali.
Dali's face blushed and some from the group chuckled at Zen's words, while others just sighed and started looking for hints on what they could do to open the gate.
"Wait." Lisa suddenly spoke, startling Sabrina, who was next to her and gaining the attention of the others.
"Eek." Once again, she hid herself behind her 'wall', and only after a few seconds did she come out and look in Dali's direction.
"Uhm, Dali..." she struggled to get her words out, making it look like she was going to confess her feelings to him.
"Yes?" Dali, who was embarrassed, lent his ear, looking for a way out of his state.
"Wasn't your trait animal communication?"
