Chereads / The Immortal Drunkard / Chapter 159 - Volume 2 Chapter 159 - Iris

Chapter 159 - Volume 2 Chapter 159 - Iris

As Kai walked down into the depths of the Shadow Dungeon with a disappointed face, there were a dozen old men sitting in a special room.

The room was completely white. There were small tables in a circle, with an old man sitting at each table. Some of them were drinking tea, and some of them were drinking something stronger.....

- You old bastard, what the fuck did you come here for?! - Cussed out one of them.

- Pfft! Do I need your permission? You're just a pathetic scribbler! - Arrogantly replied the old man who was being addressed.

- A scribe?! You're the fucking cook playing with the woks! - Parried the first old man!

- Elder Brood... Elder Caius... Please observe decorum... - A voice from the side said in a calm but authoritative voice.

- Yes, Elder Ovian! - The two men said in unison and stopped fighting.

The comicality of the situation was that both of the people involved in the welding were Grand Elders....

Elder Brood, who was called the cook, was one of the best Alchemy Masters!

And Elder Caius, who was named the scribe, was in turn one of the best Masters of the Array!

Their bickering was stopped by a third elder who seemed to have more authority.

In fact, most of the people sitting here were from the Array Alliance. Since the girl called Iris that was supposed to go to the 5th floor was also from their organisation. Many of them were here to get her as a disciple or just to support her.

But here came Elder Brood! He was from the Alchemy Alliance, and Iris was definitely not going to be his disciple!

- Isn't it time for you two to stop your constant feuding? - Elder Ovian asked with a smile.

- Impossible! - Several of the elders said in unison.

- Ehhh... Let's just watch the talent grow, then! - Shaking his head, Ovian replied.

- Come to see our talented generation? Don't start biting your elbows! Hehehe. - Elder Caius said with a sneer.

- Who knows, you might fail miserably! How can I miss this? Hahaha. - Laughing, Brood replied.

- Enough... - Ovian said quietly, stopping the conversation.

At that moment, the floor of the room shone and became as if transparent. Some kind of silhouette began to appear on it!

It seemed to be one of the array variants. It was broadcasting what was happening in the Shadow Dungeon to the Elder Room.

This room was located directly above the dungeon. With a terrifying level of cultivation and perception, these Grand Elders could scan almost the entire vortex by themselves.

But today, they were here to observe a specific person. Why waste energy when there is such a convenient array.

The silhouette of a very pretty girl, about 17 years old, was displayed on the floor. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes. Her looks were truly outstanding! Many guys would go crazy at the chance to be with her.

She with a serious face, took one step at a time, walking down the road. Her body was trembling slightly, and black clubs of energy were swirling around her.

Suddenly, several figures flew out at her from different directions!

She instantly drew her sword from its sheath and it glowed with a beautiful blue light. The girl quickly slashed in different directions, cutting her enemies. But still, one of them did hit her.

- Amazing!!! That array on her sword is quite good! - Praised one of the old men.

- Yes, she drew it herself... This girl is truly a genius of her generation... - Elder Caius said with an admiring look.

Looking at this Elder Brood remained silent. Although, it seemed that there was a very tense relationship between the Array Alliance and the Alchemy Alliance. But he would not deny the obvious. Still, Iris was first and foremost a representative of the younger generation of the entire Shadow Sect, and then the Array Alliance.

- She had already passed almost half of level 4 and was still holding up well. To achieve this at 17 years old is amazing... Although it's hard for her, I think she will succeed today. - Elder Ovian praised.

It was obvious from Iris' body that she was enduring a lot of pain. At the fourth level, the destructive energy was really going to another level... It was very difficult to endure. At the same time, one also had to fight those strange creatures.

........

It just so happened that at this very moment, Kai had also entered level 4.

- Hmmm... Well, at least the pressure is getting there... - Kai said to himself and continued downwards.

He even started humming something to himself out of boredom. The difference in pressure wasn't too significant for him, so he didn't even realise how deep he was. With his incredibly strong body and his ability to control 'pulses', this destructive energy had no visible effect.

Kai wasn't even exhausted... When the black figures jumped out at him, it didn't come as a surprise to him either. With his perception, Kai saw them waiting in the rifts of the wall, preparing to attack.

'Mhm... And when will they tell me if I passed or not? I'm already sick of walking...' - Kai thought, and lightly kicked the rock beneath his feet.

Wsuu! Wsuu! - There were two whistling sounds and a blue colour flashed.

- What's that? Is someone fighting? I think I'll walk next to them and not interfere with someone else's test...' Kai said thoughtfully.

As he got closer and closer, he saw a beautiful blonde woman fighting with black figures. Her sword was constantly flashing with blue light, and her body was all sweaty. It was obvious that she was already severely exhausted.

'Hmm... This must be that Iris... She's really pretty...' - Thought Kai, looking at the girl.

Just at that moment, she killed the last black figure and rested her hands on her knees. The girl was trying to catch her breath.

Watching this, Kai decided to pretend he was invisible and just ignoring her walk past. It seemed logical to him... If he was training, he would want to be out of the way.

.......

Sitting in the white-walled room all the Elders were chatting and praising this girl.

- Okay... I'm going to agree. Your girl is incredible... Err... - Before he could finish, Elder Brood's face changed, turning into a silly grimace.

- What's wrong with you Brood? Did you swallow your tongue? Hehehe. - Elder Caius said mockingly.

- What the hoo... - Brud asked dumbfounded, stopping halfway through the sentence so as not to say too much.

Realising that something was wrong, Caius turned around to the array and looked at what was going on there. And at that moment, his face instantly changed as well.

Iris leaned on her knees and stared at the ground, trying to catch her breath, but at that moment.... A young boy was walking calmly beside her! But he wasn't just walking, he was walking with a stone face! Like he was just passing by!

- Who's that?! How could he...' Elder Ovian said dumbfoundedly.

....

At this moment, Iris noticed him too, and looked at him dumbfounded!

- Who are you?! - The girl gave out in shock.

'Damn...' - Grimaced Kai thought, he didn't want to waste his time on anyone at all.

- Ahh. Don't worry about it! You practice here, I won't get in your way! Hehehe. - Laughing stupidly, Kai said and continued walking.

- Wait! Wait, please! Tell me, who are you?' the girl shouted.

Iris was completely dumbfounded. Some guy had beaten her so easily. And it wouldn't have been a problem if he was some famous student. But she was seeing him for the first time!

- Hmm... I'm Kai. Came here to join the Shadow Sect... I was given a letter of recommendation, and... That's basically why I'm here. Hehehe. - Kai replied carefree.

- Eh-.... - The girl said stupidly. She had absolutely no idea what was going on here!

.....

- A letter of recommendation?! He came to join the Core Disciples?! So what the hell is he doing in the middle of the 4th level?! - Elder Ovian suddenly shouted out.

All the elders had the same thoughts in their heads right now. There was no need for a letter to join the Personal Disciples! No one completely understood what was going on here.

- Who the hell is this guy?! - Elder Caius scolded.

- I hate to agree with you... But I'm wondering the same thing... - Elder Brood said in shock.
