Chapter 160 - Volume 2 Chapter 160 - Staggering the Old Ones

At this moment, all the Elders in the white room were in complete shock. Each of them was trying to comprehend what was happening on the array in front of their eyes.

- Find out who he was! Quickly! - In an orderly tone, Elder Ovian gave instructions.

Actually, this old man was not a representative of any Alliance. He was one of the most authoritative characters of the Shadow Palace. He mainly dealt with managerial matters. He had come here out of pure curiosity. But since he was the most senior in the hierarchy, he was the one who gave out instructions.

As soon as one of the guards heard this order, he instantly ran out of the white room.

As soon as Kai entered the huge black door, his entire body was scanned. Except that the array was far more skilful than when he entered the Shadow Sect's territory. Kai didn't even realise it.

Analysing the skeleton, he used the bone age to determine the true age of the challenger. Once the guard looked over the information, he would immediately know that Kai was only 14 years old.

- Hehehe! It seems like I didn't come here for nothing! - Brood laughed evilly.

It seemed like he already had his eye on this guy. In fact, this was something any Elder who didn't have an apprentice would think about. Just from these results alone, one could surmise that Kai had great potential.

- Who's to say he'd want to be in your kitchen? Not everyone is interested in playing with cauldrons! Pfft. - Elder Caius said with a sneer.

......

- Have you come to take the Basic Apprentice test? - Shocked, the girl asked.

It seemed like she couldn't believe Kai's words.

- Yes, is there a problem? If anything, I didn't want to interfere with your training! I think I'll move on! - Smilingly replied Kai.

Just as the girl wanted to say something, the whistling sounded again! Black figures rushed at them from all sides!

- Shit!' Iris cursed, and her sword glowed.

Vss! Vsssu! - There were sounds of air splitting, and the two figures split in half.

'Quite a beautiful technique... Oh? Is that an array on the sword?' - Observing thought Kai.

While this was happening, several figures flew towards him. Except Kai didn't make any incredible moves. He just abruptly made a few punches, using only the strength of his body. All of the figures flew away with a rumbling sound.

The entire dungeon fell silent again....

- Shit! The array is messed up! I worked so hard on it for so long! - The girl shouted sadly.

- Is that an array? Can I see it? - Kai suddenly asked.

He seemed to have changed his mind as he saw something interesting.

- You know about arrays? - Iris asked incredulously, but still held out the sword to Kai.

For some reason, it gave her a certain amount of trust. She wanted to see what else he could pull off. She watched him intently with her large, blue eyes.

'Suti's eyes!' - Kai said mentally.

- Hmm... What an interesting structure... - Kai said thoughtfully.

- Mm-hmm... But it's damaged... It's more accurate to say it's worn out from the constant battles in the Shadow Dungeon... - Iris said sadly.

- Ah, don't worry about it. It's not too badly damaged... - Kai said calmly and a subtle energy lit up on his fingers.

- A hundred... - The girl shouted in shock, but stopped half-heartedly.

Before her eyes, Kai began to make smooth and incredibly precise movements, restoring the structure of her drawing.

Iris couldn't believe it! She had come up with this array by herself, using one of the ancient arrays from the Array Alliance's library as inspiration. This was truly a high level of craftsmanship!

But this guy... He could actually restore it with just a single glance?

- What... What are you... - Dazedly, Iris tried to speak.

- Done! - With a smile, Kai said and took his fingers off the blade.

- What's ready? - Iris asked in disbelief, squinting at the energy around her.

Taking the blade, she didn't wait for Kai's answer, and activated the array... And the blade shone with blue light again!

- Oh my god... Are you an Array Master as well! Or are you an illusion of the Shadow Dungeon that should undermine my self-confidence! - Iris shouted out, and pointed her blade at Kai in shock.

Right now, she was in great confusion.

- Don't be so hot-headed. I'm actually a rather mediocre Array Master! I specialise more in Alchemy! It's more to my liking! Hehe. - Kai said with a smile.

He felt like that answer should put the girl at ease.

- What the... Are you... Are you kidding me? - As if in a trance, Iris asked.

'Damn... She's mad... We need to get out of here!' - Kai thought instantly.

- You've passed the illusion test! You can move on! - Kai solemnly announced, and instantly rushed down the road!

It all happened so fast that the girl stood there with her eyes bulging and her mouth open.

- What the hell just happened?! - Iris shouted to herself.

........

During this whole scene, downstairs in the white room, there was a dialogue of their own going on....

- Hehehe! It seems like I didn't come here for nothing! - Brood laughed evilly.

- Who said he'd want your kitchenette? Not everyone is interested in playing with cauldrons! Pfft. - Elder Caius said mockingly.

- Who told you he'd want to draw your fucking scribblings? - Brood replied dismissively.

Don't worry about it. There's not much damage here... - came a voice in the background.

- What the hell?! - A few of the Elders suddenly reprimanded.

They were watching the dumbfounding scene below! The guy began to restore the array, with the finest craftsmanship!

- Scribbles you say? Heh heh heh... - Elder Caius said angrily, glaring at Brood.

- You set this up to piss me off, didn't you! You sly old fox! - Elder Brood shouted.

- Hahaha! - Old man Caius laughed heartily.

...I'm actually a rather mediocre Array Master! I specialise more in Alchemy! It's more to my liking! Hehehe.... - Caius' voice rang out again, spreading out from the array on the ground.

- What did he say!!! - Slapping his hands on the table, Elder Brood stood up in admiration, -Hahahahaha! Good! Very good! Now that's a worthy disciple for me! - Laughing loudly, the old man shouted out.

All these events were changing too quickly. Kai appeared out of nowhere and immediately made a lot of noise.

- How can he like Alchemy when he's so skilled in Arrays! This is nonsense! - Standing up, Caius shouted out.

- Hahaha! Don't be jealous old geezer! What matters is what's in a guy's heart! What he's passionate about! Even if he's completely ignorant in Alchemy, I'll teach him from scratch! - Laughing loudly, Brood shouted, waving his arms!

- Quiet! Take your seats! - Elder Ovian shouted in a rough voice!

........

Kai ran down the road with a smile. He was glad to be rid of that girl's company. He was more impressed with going on his own.

Doom! - There was a loud rumbling sound!

Kai felt as if he had broken through some strange barrier! The destructive energy around him had reached a completely different level! Finally, Kai felt an impressive pressure on himself! He instantly stopped and even sat down a bit!

'Wow... It seems like the challenge has finally begun! I have to pass this level!' - Withstanding the pressure realised Kai.

Except he didn't realise that he had already entered level 5. He thought he had just moved to level 2! He wanted to try to get to level 3. If he could go straight to level 3, he wouldn't be worthy of a Basic Apprentice, but a High Apprentice! That way he would save his time.

The difficulty of the first 4 levels increased gradually, Kai didn't even realise that anything was changing. That's why he took them all as one.

From level 5, the energy jumped qualitatively to the next stage. It was felt immediately! And so it would continue onwards... Each successive level would leap exponentially into a new league!
