Chapter 100 - Volume 1 Chapter 100 - Book Review Assignment

After listening to the whole situation with the Auction, Kai was glad that everything had worked out. Now he could move on to the next stage of his plan.Deciding not to drag this out too long, he got straight to the point.

- Anyway...Brother Diso, to cut to the chase, I have two requests. About the Auction, I don't want to get involved. I've already done everything in my power... You're much better equipped to handle it all. I just need resources and your influence to do my business in peace. - Said Kai, getting to the point.

- Are you still sticking to your plan to keep a low profile? - Diso asked.

- Yes. I don't want all this publicity... I think you've already noticed that I have a lot of secrets of my own. And I don't want anyone prying into my affairs. I will only be able to afford publicity if there is no one stronger than me in the Border City of the Beast. - Kai replied seriously.

- I understand Brother Kai. We'll do as you say. - Diso replied with a smile.

- I have finished the garden and the alchemy room. I need you to hire herbalists to plant the seedlings and seeds. I've already prepared everything and even drew a diagram of the garden. Just hire people who will do a good job. - Said Kai.

- No problem, it won't take long. What are your future plans? - Asked Diso.

- To be honest, I plan to take up craftsmanship. I need to study a lot of theoretical materials. I think it will take a few months... - Kai answered with a smile.

- Are you going to become a scientist? - Diso asked sceptically.

- No, of course not. I just need to clarify a few things, and then I'll go back to my martial arts training. - Kai replied.

Although Kai was already a strong craftsman, in two professions at once. But he had to finish the job before the end. He had to make sure that he didn't stand out. Only then would he be able to develop further in peace.

Right now, Kai was already more confident in his plan. He had prepared an incredibly strong foundation, giving great power to the Trade and Research Union, namely his friends. With that kind of backbone, there would be no threat to him in the Border Beast City.

Kai had already surmised that under Diso's control, the alliance would be able to grow very rapidly and gain a foothold in the city. In the future, it would become an incredibly formidable organisation with enormous influence.

As the de facto grey cardinal of such power, he had no obstacles now. Resources, influence, and security were now in his hands. It was this kind of situation, before his first visit to the Border Beast City, that was the ideal situation in Kai's mind.

But even he hadn't expected that he and Diso would be able to achieve this in such a short period of time. And even with such strange methods... Everything that had happened since arriving at the Border Beast City was completely unpredictable. It could be said that even in the storm of chaos, Cai was able to arrive where he wished to go.

- ''Brother Cai, as a skilful manager and merchant, I can't forget your words. You said you had two requests. What is the second one? Hehe. - Praising himself, Diso asked.

- Ah, that's right. I need to get the maximum rank, of course I'm not talking about Glory Rating. - Answered Kai.

- For quests? - Diso asked in response.

- Yes. At my third level, I won't be able to get a decent assignment for myself. - Explained Kai.

Even though he now had the status of Master of Alchemy. But he couldn't enter the floors that had assignments for them. He was still restricted to the third rank. The Task Hall arrays, simply wouldn't let him through.

- Understood... It can be organised, you're one of the Councillors of the Trade and Research Union. Your influence is considered great... You just have to wait. - Diso replied.

- How long approximately? - Kai asked in a clarifying manner.

- Hmm... A few days, I think. I'll apply to the right authorities. And after checking and confirming your identity, everything will be ready. - Diso explained the procedure.

- Good, then it'll have to wait. I'm counting on you Brother Diso! - Said Kai with a smile.

- Let's summarise... I'm in charge of the alliance, planting the garden, raising your rank and managing the auction? Isn't that a bit much? - Diso asked jokingly.

- A huge man has a huge amount of things to do! Hehehe. - Kai said teasingly.

- Did you just call me fat? - Raising one eyebrow, Diso asked.

- Come on, it's all a joke. Hahaha. - Laughing Kai replied and patted Diso on the back.

The two of them chatted some more, joking around with each other. After half an hour, Kai finally walked out of Diso's office.

"Hmm, what am I going to do now... I don't want to just waste time..." - Kai thought.

Since he was currently of the third rank, he couldn't do Alchemy Master level tasks. And Kai wasn't used to sitting around doing nothing. He had to think of something.

- That's right! The Array Master level tasks should be on the third floor of the Task Hall as well. I can kill the waiting time by doing one of them. - Kai said happily to himself.

Thinking about this, he excitedly walked out of the headquarters and moved towards the centre of Border Beast City once again. He wanted to see what quests could be taken now.

Half an hour later, he was already climbing the stairs to the third floor. This time, he didn't waste time talking to the staff at the front desk.

But in the end, it ended up being much more boring than Kai had anticipated.

"Draw ten lighting arrays..." - Reading, voiced in his thoughts Kai.

"Prepare a small energy harvesting array in my home. My son wishes to become a warrior, I want to give him a gift!" - Read the next sheet of paper Kai read.

- You've got to be fucking kidding me... This is all boring as hell... - Kai said aloud.

- Maybe you'll get lucky with this one... - Said Kai, taking the next advert.

"A new entertainment complex is opening next month! Draw 15 arrays to organise a hot spring system..." - Reading this, Kai's eye started twitching.

- What am I to you, some kind of construction worker! - Kai shouted, but then he immediately calmed down, "Okay, why am I getting so worked up? It's quite normal that there are a lot of orders here, for people trying to make money. - Kai said calmly.

In fact, the jobs that Kai wanted could only be taken by people of Master level. For they didn't need money, but they did need interesting and challenging orders. One could say that they were driven by research interest. For people of the third rank, such assignments would be too extravagant.

Realising this, Kai decided not to fret about it. He just calmly read the rest of the array creation orders. There were also tasks to evaluate and repair the arrays. While reading all this, suddenly Kai froze.

- And this is even interesting... - Said Kai, looking at the advert.

"I am a private collector of rare and ancient books as well as artefacts. I need an array master who knows ancient languages. Some of the books have half-erased arrays on them. I would be interested to know what they were once intended for. Payment 15 stones of energy." - Kai read.

- Hehe, perfect. At least there's something interesting here... I'll be able to look at the ancient books, maybe I'll even find something funny there. I'll do it. - Said Kai, and took the contract in his hand.

Finally, he found something to do for the near future. Thinking about it, he walked out of the Task Hall, automatically accepting the task of evaluating the arrays in the ancient books.
