Kai left the Task Hall and went straight to the client's mansion. This assignment was going to take several days. Since the collector naturally had more than one item to evaluate.
The employer's name was Krol, and he was sort of a nobleman of one of the empires. His mansion in the Border Beast City was also located in the centre. But on the opposite side of the Quest Hall. So it was a bit of a walk.
After an hour of time, Kai entered a large gated area. There were few mansions in this city that had their own private grounds. Even by this fact, the status of the person who issued the contract was apparent.
Showing the task sheet to the guards, Kai entered the grounds without any problems and moved towards the entrance of the mansion. As he walked, he could already see from afar how there was already waiting for him at the entrance. It was a young girl.
"Hmm, judging by the clothes, it looks like a maid." - Thought Kai, walking closer.
Just then, a seductive woman in a simple maid outfit said:
- Good, you seem to be smart and you have a pretty cute face. Don't worry, big sister won't hurt you. - Smiling flirtatiously, the maid said.
It seemed that this girl was quite frivolous. But Kai didn't care about that at all. He came here to kill time.
- It's good that you arrived just now! Master has already learnt that his contract has been accepted. He's instructed you to find Mr Bale and Officer Dunfil when you arrive. An envoy from the honourable noble family of Leinor is due to arrive soon. Our master is interested in the book the envoy wishes to sell. Since our master has a very large library of ancient manuscripts, he is interested in collecting and buying ancient books. - In one breath, the maid said.
''Gosh, she's so energetic that it's already difficult for me... Maybe I shouldn't have taken this contract. If her master is going to be like that..." - Thought Kai, looking at this girl.
It must be said that the Laynor family was very wealthy and influential in the Border Beast City. Her main business was trading, she owned a large guild of merchants.
They had branches in almost all the big, small cities and towns of the neighbouring Empires. It should also be added that when it came to collections of ancient artefacts, relics and books, this was definitely a family that had plenty of such things. They very rarely put them up for sale or even put them on display. And this time, they took the initiative to offer a bargain.
- Okay, my name is Lin. Cutie, what's your name? - Smiling, the maid asked.
- Kai, and I don't have a surname, as I'm a commoner from a small town orphanage. - He said calmly, with a touch of indifference. Kai didn't want to tell much about himself. Since he didn't come here for a long time.
- What a serious young man. - Lin said teasingly, "Okay, but you'll have to dress in something more presentable! We have a guest room where you can wash and tidy up. New clothes will be brought to you. - Holding the keys defiantly, Lin smiled coquettishly and said, "Would you like your big sister to help you rub your back? - It gave the impression that she enjoyed pissing off visitors.
''Damn, where did I get to... These nobles are really strange people. Why would I change my clothes and wash myself to receive someone's envoy. Found myself an adventure on my arse." - Kai felt more and more like he was in some kind of madhouse.
Kai calmly and slowly started walking towards Lin, with a face so calm that she had apprehension in her heart. And when his face got so close that she could feel his breath against her ear... He gently touched the bottom of her stomach with his finger and slowly started to lift it round the hollow of her breasts and leading up to her very chin. He touched her beautiful chin leaned his lips to her little ear and said seriously:
- Thank you for preparing a room for me Miss Lin. - Said Kai. And with a deft movement he took the key from the hand of the stunned maid standing there.
Kai turned around and leisurely walked away towards the part of the palace where the guest room was located. And Lin only stared dazedly at his broad back, which was slowly disappearing around the corner. After she came back from her daze, she licked her eyes slightly, and interest flickered in her eyes.
Kai looked 16 or 17, but he had seen a lot in his wanderings and battles in Asura's Hell... He couldn't be embarrassed by such a simple provocation from a seductive woman. Unlike other guys his age.
When he arrived at the guest room, he saw a rather simple but tidy setting. There was a nice single bed, a nightstand and a small table with a lamp in the centre of the room. He even thought it would be a pretty good idea to wash up and change his clothes.
After Kai cleaned himself up, a handsome tall young man with blue eyes and snow-white hair that hadn't exactly been tidy recently came out of the room. Lately, he had been crawling around near the garden and painting an array. Kai hadn't thought about his appearance at all....
Right now, his gaze was quite piercing and calm. Ignorant people might have thought that he was from among the nobility. A set of beautiful, white clothes were already lying on his bed.
As he walked down the stairs of the palace, he saw two men standing below waiting for him. One was bald and rather wiry, with a serious face and a slight aura of blood around it. The other was a rather pleasant and handsome man with brown hair in nobleman's robes. With a radiant smile, he gave the impression of a typical schemer and idle person. The first was Officer Dunfil and the other was Mr Bale.
- Greetings my new friend! - The first to greet was Mr Bale, it was obvious that this man knew how to make new acquaintances and would never miss his advantage.
Kai knew that this type of people pursue only their own selfish goals. All others are just expendable and pieces on the chessboard, just a pawn and a rook.
"Just going to play along with all this absurdity... I hope the mission ends quickly..." - Kai thought in his head.
- Greetings Mr Bale, Officer Dunfil. - Bowing slightly, Kai said. From the aura he already realised who was who.
In response, the bald man also nodded slightly. And the nobleman said with a loud laugh:
- Oh, quite good manners for a person from this warrior city. I think we'll make friends! Let's go gentlemen, the envoy of the Laynor family has already arrived and is waiting for us in the meeting hall. - After a few words, they quickly moved towards the guest.
- Mr Kai, you're unlucky. You came here for an evaluation, but you also came across this situation. But don't worry, if you help in evaluating the new book, the owner will definitely reward you extra. - Said Mr Bale.
- ''Thank you for the advice, I will take it into consideration. - Smiling slightly, Kai said gratefully. But inside, he felt an almost imperceptible envy and hostility from his interlocutor. It seemed there was quite a bit of competition in the mansion.....
"Hell, I'm not threatening any of you. And I want to get out of here quickly myself..." - Kai thought, assessing the situation he found himself in.
The three approached the beautifully engraved gold doors. When they were opened, Kai, who was standing behind them, was slightly surprised. For in the room sat a rather beautiful mature woman with her adult charm and wearing a pure white dress.
Although she did make some sort of impression... It was clear that for such an influential power of the Border Beast City, she was just a confidante, nothing more. But still with a certain status, authorising her to handle the sale of an ancient book. In which the owner of the estate saw an aesthetic and collector's interest.
- Greetings, on behalf of our master, Mr Krol and the Rhyne family. - Bale bowed, followed by Danfil and Kai.
The Rein family was also one of the big families of Border Beast City. And that Mr Krol whom Bale mentioned was the head of the family. The collector who gave the assignment to Kai.
"I didn't realise there were so many nobles in the Border Beast City... I thought this city was only made up of warriors and merchants. All these ceremonies have no place here, but it seems I was wrong..." - Kai thought about the situation.
