Chereads / A Demon Myself / Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

A while later, Le Xaan stopped persuading and had a small talk with his father before bidding his farewell.

Le Finn stood in the drawing room and knitted his brows tightly, seemingly pondering over something.

Le Xaan had no intentions of relying on his father for the rest of his life.

In this dangerous world, all he could trust was his own strength.

He then headed for the drill ground to practice martial arts.

With the highest level of Jade Crane Skill, he felt invigorated nearly all day.

When he was a little tired, he just sat down for a few minutes before his body became bubbly with energy again, which would last in the following several hours.

On the drill ground, he practiced the blade styles until dusk.

Now, he was covered with sweat, so he went to wash himself before having dinner.

In the dining room, Le Finn, Louir Cayv, and Le Xaan were eating at one table while other Le Finn's concubines and children were at another table.

This was part of the family's rule.

Le Finn was the family's head, while Louir Cayv managed the family's internal affairs. As for Le Xaan, he was the future family head.

The three of them were of a high status within the extended family.

The Les were not a traditional noble family, yet they still put great priority on etiquette.

At a dining table, talks were not allowed.

As the family members ate their meals, only the faint sounds of chopsticks colliding with bowls could be heard, making for a quiet scene.

"Xaan."

Le Finn suddenly spoke.

Upon hearing this, all the other family members stopped eating and listened to what he had to say. This was part of etiquette as well. After all, Le Finn wouldn't speak while having dinner unless there were some important matters.

"Dad, is something the matter?"

Le Xaan put down his chopsticks and looked over at Le Finn.

"I heard that you can't gather more martial arts in Gourain CIty. Would you like to have a trip to Mountainside City?"

Le Finn asked seriously.

"Mountainside CIty?"

Le Xaan was dumbfounded. He never expected that his father wanted him to leave Gourian CIty.

"Yes." Le Finn nodded. "I have an old friend over there. He mentioned in a letter that there is a renowned Central Land master opening a dojo in Mountainside City. If you will, you can head for that city and possibly secure one or two sets of truly great martial arts originating from Central Land."

Le Xaan put down his bowl and considered for a moment.

His instincts told him that his father was worrying about something and now of a mind to send him to a safer place.

Nevertheless, if Deumu Wann did not reappear in Gourian City, then Gourian City would indeed not be suitable for his growth in strength. A trip to Mountainside City, a more flourishing place than Gourian City, was not a bad idea.

"Alright, I will go and come back quickly. If I have to stay there and learn martial arts, I will send a letter home."

Le Xaan agreed with his father's proposal after moments of thought.

The journey from Gourian to Mountainside was significantly longer, nearly twice the distance of the trip from Gourian to Zewa.

Even if you rode on a strong horse without any rest, it took two days and a night, let alone on a horse carriage.

In the following days, Le Xaan kept practicing martial arts at home and prepared himself for the trip.

Le Cinci, as usual, wandered on the streets. The news about her heroic acts found its way to the Le Mansion from time to time.

Le Xaan and the other family members, including Louir Cayv, couldn't discipline her enough to keep her at home. Therefore, Le Cinci grew more and more unrestrained.

After a few days of rest, Le Xaan was about to modify on Crashing Heart Palm.

His build now grew remarkably stronger in the wake of the modification on Black Tiger Blade Style and Jade Crane Skill. Therefore, he enhanced Crashing Heart Palm to the 'Third Level', the highest level, with great ease.

As for the other sets of martial arts, he planned to modify them later on. His bodily energy still required some time to be restored.

And he decided to continue to practice Swallow Chasing Wind Blade Style by himself so that he could tell the nuances between the modification and the training of himself.

Le Xaan's life settled into a daily routine like this. Yet, as his departure approached, another weird incident took place in Gourian CIty.

A few hunters around the city had gone missing.

A few days before their evaporation, they were seen selling furs in the city.

They vanished within the city before their families alerted the authorities. This matter caused quite a stir.

It was worth noting that one of the hunters had a male cousin who was a sheriff. That's why the sheriff's forces gave the case some priority.

During the investigation, they spotted a bizarre point.

That bunch of hunters disappeared on the street neighboring the Goldfish restaurant.

They were seen walking down the street by several people.

Thereby, some sheriffs went over there and conducted an investigation.

However, that stretch of charred ruins was now deserted with few pedestrians. Why would the hunters go there to sell their game?

Le Xaan was puzzled as well. Right then, Qiki ran over and told him that Le Cinci had headed to that street alone last night and had not returned home by now.

Le Xaan's heart skipped a beat, and he had a gut feeling that something was wrong.
