The early morning light entered through the blinds in Aiden's apartment and stretched its slanting rays on the floor. Aiden woke up and embraced the day yet again, he felt the work out he did the previous day pulling on his muscles as he stretched standing in the middle of his living room. The volume of business achieved with the help of the system had taken him beyond what he would ordinarily try and the returns of all the effort were beginning to manifest themselves. He felt in such better form, he felt more muscular, more alert, and more energetic than he had ever felt in his life.
While he was on the ground doing warm ups, a notification that was somewhat recurring in his sight came up.
[New Quest: Endurance Training. The endurance exercise is training to improve stamina: 200 exp points [200 XP; +3 Stamin]
Aiden nodded to himself. Perseverance was important, if he was to last longer in a world that consists of dungeons and other equally frightening creatures. Me too I had observed so many hunters who were able to pack punches and unleash so much energy on the opponent but were feeble when the fight went on for a long time. He wouldn't become one of them.
He quickly changed into his exercise cloths and returned to the park where he normally exercised. The morning was fresh with a chilly breeze blowing on the park; the park was nearly deserted, only a few joggers and some people exercising their dogs. Before that, Aiden warmed up his muscles by performing a regular running which the system helped him to regulate. He could actually observe the area of his legs protest as he churned round after round, breathing as though he was in another race.
As he will be jogging, he will start to think of something he had come across in a book he read a day before. The Art of Necromancy: A Forbidden Study had thrown a window of possibilities into his eyes. This concept of an ability to control the dead was are both thrilling and spine chilling. Then he looked at the book and wondered whether it was by design that Amazon proposed it to him or it simply happened by chance. But inside himself, he understood that there are no such things as coincidences in this world.
During the following several turns of the park territory, Aiden had to stop to catch his breath and his heart was beating fast. The system continued to announce something in its metallic voice once again.
[Quest Update: Increase the pace by jogging for five minutes at the highest speed possible.
With no second though Aiden began running as fast as he could, his thighs gliding back and forth like automobile cylinders. The things around him faded into a blur, the only thing that then mattered was the finish line the system had laid down for him. It was uncomfortable, he could feel the muscles of his body aching, but it was! Such was the rush that one got with the ability to surpass the physical self.
When the five minutes were up Aiden stopped and was out of breath. He looked at his watch he realized that he has been running for one hour and he had successfully completed the challenge though drenched with his sweat.
[Quest Complete: [ Training – Endurance Training.
[Rewards: Increase bonus by +3 stamina, Gain 200 experience points.
Aiden was showering with sweat and he cleaned the sweat on his face he felt the strength of the system . However, before he proceeded to go home something rather awkward occurred. Datastream displayed across the little window, and a new alert appeared on the screen which was quite different from anything he had encountered.
[System Alert: Unlocking Future Potential. .. ]
Aiden literally jumped at the thought of spending time with her. This he had never witnessed the system to have been operated like this. Some of the colors went awry for a second, and then, without any preamble, a rush of pictures swept along his brain. They followed one another in quick sequence; it was difficult to think it was happening but then every one made the impact which lingered.
He saw himself as a warrior standing on the remains of a battlefield with several enemies he had defeated lying next to him. His hands were raised and from the ground, blackish-purple streams of energy shot out and coiled around the corpses. And then the energy started to flow and the body started to get up and the eyes were burning with yellow flames. They could not be dead; they were his soldiers, his servitors, and would obediently follow his orders.
The vision changed, and instead of this Aiden saw himself in a large, dark domain, where he ruled the hordes of skeletons. They were not only robots without thoughts or feelings; they were strong creatures that were dangerous to fight against; all of them had their grades and their missions. He could sense them, and he can feel himself linked to them in a way that granted him total authority.
And then the two visions merged into one final vision. Aiden was at the eye and when eye was described, it was evident that the man was full of darkness. The authority he possessed was enormous, it was as if, he was half way to god-ship. Where he sat was his future – was his destiny; he felt this with the profound certainty of primeval wisdom. However the power brings this force a feeling of responsibility to do justice with the power and a feeling of horror of what could happen if not.
Then, just as such vision appeared, they disappeared and that what we were witnessing was real. Young Aiden was left all by himself in the park breathing heavily and shocked by what he got to witness.
[System Alert: It states Potential for the Future Unleashed Further, you need to build upon these skills to hopeful that you accomplish that potential.
The message was clear: the system had showed him what he was capable of when he got to that level but it was up to him to get there. Indeed, the visions that they had sees were thrilling and at the same time horrifying and Aiden understood that the journey would not be a smooth sail.
While returning home, there are many questions running in the mind of Aiden. But that was the system I was not quite sure what exactly the system was. It was a question he asked himself, why had it chosen him? And, what would he turn into if he decided to embody that power to the maximum? He raised his hand again, as something deep inside of him screamed to be the kind of man he could shield those he loved and could stand tall no matter what. However the visions suggested the black side which could occur easily if he did not control himself properly.
Aiden went back to his apartment and he quietly exhaled breath. The system had been his shepard all along, it was companies who were strengthening him, sharpening his intellect and developing him into more capable individuality. But now, Morgan realized that there were much more than the money at risk which was not the case a few weeks ago. There is a strong rationale rooted in reality when it comes to necromancy – the art of conjuring, and commanding the dead; it is of course a twofold sword. It could do a lot of good if utilized positively but at the same time it could do immense harm also.
He got the determination anew in his heart therefore. He would go by the system but would do it carefully In his next turn he would again follow the instructed system but would be very careful while doing so. He had to learn about it, to come to term with it, so that he wouldn't be overwhelmed by it. What is forthcoming is anyone's guess, but the future of controlling his gift was not in his hands.
Before heading to the next adventure Aiden felt like this was just the start. The system had revealed to him part of his future but there were still many years of small scale mercantile experience before he would be ready to operate on that big scale. He was no more a miner who hardly feeds his family; he was in the process of transforming into something, something evil but also something needed in the society.
And with that thought Aiden got prepared to what was coming. He was willing to look into the future whichever way it is going no matter what was waiting for him in front. No matter what obstacles raced towards him he would climb over them, brick by brick, until he reached the potential the system had drawn on him.
