044. Arrogance is a Common Disease Among Many Pilots

Li Aozzi was furious.

The personal talent, Object Resonance, wasn't exactly rare.

To be precise, on this entire planet of billions, there might only be one person with it.

This talent was exceptionally, exceptionally, exceptionally suited for the prerequisite profession of the Starfall Master — the Bishop!

The description seemed ordinary, with more concentrated attention and easier observation of changing patterns — but its actual performance was terrifying.

Simply put, this talent could cancel the casting time, gestures, movements, and formation preparation for a caster!

What does this mean?

It means that ultimate spells like Dragon's Breath, Void Demon Flash, and Gate of Purgatory, which usually have casting times of several minutes, don't require staying in one place. The caster can move freely and use displacement skills without interrupting the casting.

You could even use a warp skill to jump from a safe zone directly into a forbidden zone, cast an ultimate spell, and still have time to retreat.

For professions like Warriors, Ability Users, Biochemists, Mechanics, and Architects, who almost don't need to cast skills, this talent is useless. They rely on short cooldowns and other means of output, often just normal attacks.

But for professions with long casting times, this talent is a godsend!

Professions like Summoners, Soul Ferrymen, Underworld Messengers, Apostles, and Bishops have high output capabilities, but to maximize damage, they must sacrifice mobility.

So—

"You have such a great talent, and you didn't become a spellcaster to make a name for yourself? You graduated from college and joined Law IV as a minor agent?!"

And you chose the Occult path? And the Medium?

The Occult skills generally have no casting time, with strong spell penetration and various eerie gadgets, making them great supports and information gatherers.

The Medium, known for short cooldowns and high mobility, is a rare spell assassin in the early stages and can later transition to Cursers, Apostles, Heaven Condemners, or Guides.

Each can achieve great things and is a must-pick in professional tournaments.

And then you look at what you've learned?

You actually took on a secondary profession as an Agent?

Li Aozzi was about to lose his mind.

That's a strength-based profession!

You're a Medium, with Willpower as your primary attribute.

"Are you kidding me? I'm gonna throw up!"

Li Aozzi's eyes turned red, both professionally and out of his own arrogance, making him lose control seeing such a scene.

Too small, her ambitions are too small!

Holding a golden bowl while begging — this is the epitome of that!

This isn't just about being a rookie; a heavy hand is needed to correct this mistake!

Li Aozzi, gritting his teeth, unleashed a flurry of punches.

His punches landed on Yavanna's chest, his left knee thrusting forward to take the center line, and his left hook hammering into Yavanna's bent arm. Her already dislocated wrist couldn't bear the impact, causing her to groan in pain.

"Guh—"

There was no time to be overwhelmed by pain. Li Aozzi's next punch aimed directly at her throat, but Yavanna bit through the pain, ducked, and countered with a shoulder strike, driving her elbow into Li Aozzi's diaphragm to halt his advance.

"Ugh—argh—"

I can't lose here. If I lose now, everything is over.

"Yavanna! Remember why you joined Law IV… if I fall, my family is doomed."

I can't die, I can't lose.

Yavanna reminded herself.

Her eyes sharpened as she spotted an opening, stomping on Li Aozzi's foot.

[-5]

This woman hadn't learned the Medium's Soul Corrosion or Evil Soul Stab, and her small frame, weakened by Li Aozzi's passive gravity ability, had even less impact.

In a sense, their physical attacks were like scratching each other, but given their fragile health, the attacks were still significant.

Li Aozzi didn't care, grabbing her by the nape, and using gravity to lift her off the ground before shoving her headfirst into the car through the sunroof.

Bang!

Yavanna landed painfully in the passenger seat, startling Qiu Ran and Nomi.

Qiu Ran saw a beautiful woman sitting there and instinctively waved:

"Hello?"

"Hello, my ass!" Nomi swung a wrench at her.

Spirit Drive

Yavanna reentered the unnatural ghost state, moving quickly against physical laws, initially trying to open the door and jump out. But the lock could only be controlled from the driver's seat.

She then tried to climb out through the sunroof, but Li Aozzi's body was blocking it. Confidently, he believed even in ghost form, she couldn't pass through.

This was called "shutting the door on the ghost." Players loved fighting Mediums; once they activated Spirit Drive, they'd lock the doors and throw in gas grenades, enjoying the chaos inside.

Ideally, they'd have a cup of coffee and listen to "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" on the piano, elegantly and joyfully.

Li Aozzi's superior attitude irked Yavanna.

"If I can't get out—then you come down!"

Yavanna reacted swiftly, deactivating Spirit Drive to conserve energy, and grabbed Li Aozzi, using her full weight to drag him down.

"What?!"

Li Aozzi paid for his arrogance, being dragged inside without space to use his abilities, getting pulled into a close-quarters struggle.

Despite this, his skills were superior. They quickly grappled, with Yavanna soon overpowered.

"What the hell! Are you crazy? Fighting in the car!"

Nomi pushed Li Aozzi's shoulder away, the steering wheel slipping, causing the car to veer into Law IV's off-road vehicle.

Bang!

The driver of the off-road vehicle, enraged by Nomi's swerve, nearly deployed the airbag. Infuriated, he turned the wheel and slammed the gas, ramming back into Nomi's car.

Crash!

"Ahhh! Ahhhh—"

Qiu Ran screamed, clutching her head.

Yavanna's cap flew off in the struggle, and Li Aozzi pinned her to the backseat, ready to punch her throat.

He had forgotten his initial playfulness.

Being pushed to this point filled him with shame.

"Uh… argh…"

Yavanna, struggling to breathe under his weight, looked into his grey eyes with golden rings, seeing his disdainful gaze.

"Don't look at me…"

Her eyes turned ghostly blue. She bit her lip, activating her last bit of mana, giving her ghost-like attributes through Spirit Drive, even if only momentarily.

Bang!

Yavanna smashed the gun's barrel into his armpit, deflecting his chain strike that left a dent in the seat.

One second was enough.

Her fingers turned white from exertion, her mana depletion causing a splitting headache. She muttered to herself, seemingly reminding herself:

"Don't look at me with that arrogant gaze."

She rolled to his left, grabbing the seatbelt, wrapping it around his neck, and pulling with both hands to choke him out.

"Argh—"

Caught off guard.

But then, the driver on the right rammed into them, loosening her grip and sending her flying into Nomi's lap.

"Damn! Get off!"

Nomi, shocked by a woman landing on her lap, swung her wrench down. Yavanna didn't react in time, and Li Aozzi yanked her leg, pulling her into the back seat.

"Ow!"

Nomi's wrench hit her own knee, swelling it up. She cried out, slowing the car down and allowing the trailing off-road vehicle to rear-end them.

Boom—

Li Aozzi was lifting Yavanna by the collar, ready to strike when the car's front collided with the one ahead, sending him flying into the windshield.

Instinctively, he activated his gravity ability, landing smoothly on the windshield. He saw Yavanna draw a knife, aiming to stab him.

Li Aozzi didn't flinch, tilting his head as the knife struck the windshield. He released the gravity, swung his chain, and pressed his body against hers.

Die!

Li Aozzi claimed to have no ambitions, but this talent sparked intense jealousy.

All he thought was: If I can't have this talent, no one else should. Like a child's mindset.

With the chain nearing her neck, Yavanna, with a dislocated wrist and her other hand pinned, suddenly calmed down. She faced him, baring her white teeth.

Out of bullets, blade stuck, fists weak,

but teeth were still an option!

"This never ends, does it? I'll headbutt you to death!"

Nomi, furious, teary-eyed, floored the gas, steering to ram the car ahead.

Crash!

The violent impact sent everyone inside flying, with Nomi laughing maniacally. She sped up until she flipped the car, revealing its undercarriage, then laughed wildly, driving off.

Boom—

Moments later, the car behind them burst into flames, but Nomi sped away, the fire disappearing into the snowy, red-black sky.

"Hahaha! Shocked, right? Try ramming Nomi's car again! Ah, flipped, didn't you! Hahaha!"

Nomi smugly knocked on the steering wheel, turning to Li Aozzi:

"So? How was Nomi's driving skills, impressive… Lee?"

It was eerily quiet in the back.

"Hey…"

She paused, her face changing, quickly turning to look back.

The sight in the backseat made her head buzz, her fingers clenching the steering wheel, leaving deep marks.
