Chapter 17 - Spells.

"Alright." Homer removed the covering from one of the spells on the shelf. It was an Earth spell with five parts, the first being a simple Earth Rise—an efficient and highly useful spell. The spell he chose didn't require much effort to learn since it was an extremely easy First-Tier spell for Alex.

"This is the paper people use to learn spells. It has everything you need. Look," Homer said as he handed the spell to Alex. Alex managed to read through it; the paper described five spells, with Earth Rise being the simplest. He was fascinated and smiled at the illustration. But was there an illustration?

"Why do I feel there's a picture here, but I just don't see it?" Alex asked, confused. The only things on the paper were words describing different spells.

"Spark Magic is one of the most mysterious things humans have ever created. Look." Homer folded the paper into a circular shape and held it up toward the sun.

"Incredible..." The words on the spell formed an image of a person in a pose, raising a wall. It was so astonishing that the sun shone through the paper, making it seem as though the words themselves were colored.

"This happens because the sun's energy is absorbed by the Spark Magic sealed inside the spell, turning it into something you can learn from," Homer explained, laughing.

"Incredible. But how do I learn it?" Alex asked.

"Alright, this will take some time." Homer sat down and began to explain.

"Spell papers are quite complicated. The most amazing thing about them is that they contain inscriptions. For the spell we have here, the inscription for the first part is Gês teichíonos égersis. If you look closely, it describes how to use the spell. When you read it, it imprints on your mind, and when you want to use the spell, you just need to imagine it. After that, you simply channel your Spark energy downward and raise the wall. This is the easiest type of spell to learn. Of course, more complex spells have intricate usage theories, and you must match the spell's tier with your Spark Level to learn them. There's also something called Mastery Tier. When you reach the Mastery Tier, you don't even have to visualize the spell to use it," Homer explained as he gazed at the spell.

"Mastery Tier involves mastering the spell to the point where, at the first level of Mastery, you can think about the spell so quickly that you only need to concentrate on your Spark energy to raise the Earth wall. The second level, Legendary Tier, means your mastery over the spell becomes so advanced that you only need to focus on the size of the wall. You'll be able to cast the spell so swiftly that you won't even notice the consumption of Spark Magic. The next level is Mythical Tier. When you reach this level, your mastery is so refined that you can cast the spell anytime, anywhere, without any issues. You'll be able to raise Earth walls rapidly and endlessly, as long as your Spark Magic isn't exhausted," Homer elaborated.

"That's a lot to take in..." Alex said, trying to memorize everything Homer had explained.

"Yes, and there's one more thing," Homer added.

"Another thing???" Alex asked, slightly exasperated.

"When you learn a higher-tier spell, it's more challenging to reach Mastery, Legendary, and Mythical Tiers. However, you'll gain more advantages because there are additional masteries unlocked at higher spell levels. Explaining them all would take a lot of time, so that's pretty much it," Homer concluded. he knew Alex was just Tier 1 Magos, so explaining other spells higher level would be not too much helpful for him, so he decided to only explain one, but the truth was, the Tiers above were so unbelievably hard, very few people would be able to actually learn it, so Homer wanted Alex to believe they were easily learned so in the future he would definitely try to learn them and understand things as he went on, He could feel Alex was mythically talented at Magic, Homer decided to explain one. and other ones would be Alex'es job to find out, He was very expectant of Alex and thinking he would surprise him very much in the future, Homer smiled and said this to Alex. he was very much happy to find a friend like this in the library he came so often.

"I understand everything." Alex stood up. "Thank you, Homer. You've been a great help. That was very interesting." Alex smiled and shook Homer's hand.

"It's nothing, Alex. Do you want me to help you choose a spell?" Homer offered.

"No, I'll do it myself." Alex smiled and walked toward the shelves to choose his spells.

After a few hours of browsing, he selected the Tier 1 spell Water Cannon, the Tier 1 fire spell Blow Fire, and the Tier 1 Earth spell Ground Shake.

Homer was surprised by his choices but went along with it.

Tier 1 spells cost about three gold coins each, so Alex had plenty of money left over. He decided to save it for future simulations.

They eventually went down to the first floor and approached the counter.

"Here you go. We'd like to buy these," Homer said.

"Three gold coins for three Tier 1 Spark spells," the counter lady stated, and Alex paid the money.

As they left, Alex turned to Homer.

"Thanks again for your help. Now I won't have to listen to that little red vixen complain," he laughed.

"Hahaha, I know how that feels! I have my apprentices too, so hahaha," Homer laughed along.

"Anyway, see you soon." Alex was about to leave but then remembered something.

"By the way, Homer," he asked.

"Yes?" Homer replied.

"You said you were a writer. What exactly do you write?" Alex inquired.

"Me? Not much... just a little novel named... 'Odyssey'," Homer replied.

Alex stood frozen in place, completely stupefied.
