Chapter 4 - Life Simulation.

Alex looked around and saw he was in the midst of a colossal battle. The scene was chaotic—enormous numbers of bodies scattered across the battlefield, soldiers clashing swords and weapons, and fierce combat occurring in the sky. Boats in the nearby sea were also engaged in combat.

An absolutely huge war.

CLANG!!!

"AGH!!!" Alex's instincts kicked in as he parried a sword attack.

"KILLL!!!" The combatants were crazed, fighting fiercely with an air of madness. Blood was everywhere.

"What the fuckkk!!!"

BANG!!!

bSHHHH!!!

CLANG!!! CLANG!!! CLANG!!!

The air was blood-red, the sky darkening, and blood had turned the battlefield into a lake.

"DIE!!!" Someone charged at Alex.

"AGHH!!!" Alex clashed swords with a mounted man and was thrown back.

"DIE???!!!" He didn't understand where he was but had experienced war before. He gathered his wits and looked around for the command center.

"WHAT AN ENORMOUS WAR!!!" Alex ran about the battlefield, feeling like a lost child.

Soldiers glanced over.

"What is that idiot doing..." They were too engrossed in their own battles to pay much attention to him.

"Here!!!" Alex finally spotted the camp, where injured soldiers from earlier battles were being treated.

He looked up and saw they were fighting near a massive city.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

An enormous explosion rocked the sky, sending charred bodies plummeting.

Warriors with bear helmets shouted.

"NO!!! COMMANDER ZAYUS!!!" They gritted their teeth.

"HAHAHAHA FIGHTTTT!!!" Others, wearing bronze boar-headed armor, cheered.

Alex reached the barracks.

"UG?HH!!" He pretended to be injured, pressing his fingernails hard enough to draw blood.

Beautiful maidens in white rushed to him.

"What's wrong, sir?!" they asked.

"I hurt my right hand. I can't hold my sword anymore. I need to rest it a bit," Alex said, entering the camp. He wasn't sure where he was, but the armor and fighting style suggested Greece, possibly the Mycenaean Period due to the bronze animal-headed armor.

"Oh..." The maidens were confused but went on to tend to more seriously injured men.

Alex sat on a wool bed.

He looked out through the fabric of the camp and saw the battle still raging.

"Where am I..." He recalled what happened before he arrived here.

"MY FUCKING DUMBASS HAND!!!" He winced, knowing that while he wouldn't actually die here, the pain felt real.

"I need to find a way to escape from here..." Alex began to formulate a plan, but then he noticed moving lights in the sky.

"Escape? Wait... why would I do that... didn't the prompt say I could keep all three things I gain here???... YES!!! I NEED TO GET AS MANY THINGS AS POSSIBLE AND LEARN AS MUCH AS I CAN!!!" Alex grinned and looked toward the massive city walls.

"This city looks enormous; it must have a library. I don't know much about magic, but I might learn something there..." Alex stood up.

"Are you okay now, sir?" the maidens asked.

"Yes, now I must go... KILL THE... ROMANS..." Alex rushed away.

The maidens were puzzled.

"Romans? Who are they..." They shrugged, confused.

Alex hurried towards the city, carefully avoiding combat. He didn't want to fight; he didn't know the factions involved, and dying here would mean no gain from the simulation.

After a few minutes, he reached the city walls.

He made his way to the entrance and tried to enter through one of the gates.

Alex looked around and saw people with darker skin receiving treatment.

"Uhmmm..." He didn't know what to say, so he kept his head down and surprisingly passed through without any issues.

As he exited the other side, he heard voices.

"Hey... didn't you think that man was a little bit suspicious?" one soldier said to another.

"Hmmm... I think he was... too fair-skinned... and the armor... wait..." Both soldiers noticed and shouted.

"GREEK!!! FUCK, CATCH HIM!!!" They alerted everyone.

"What's wrong?!" Another soldier emerged from a nearby door.

"SIR!!! RIGHT NOW A GREEK JUST ENTERED THE CITY!!!" They yelled.

"WHAT!!! YOU FUCKING IDIOTS LET A GREEK ENTER?!" A burly man's face drained of color as he rushed to his door.

"GET HIM!!! A SPY JUST ENTERED THE CITY!!!" He ordered the guards atop the walls, who were already engaged in battle.

"But sir, the enemy..." one of the guards protested.

"I SAID SEARCH THE CITY!!!" The man roared.

Almost 3,000 guards leaped down from the walls and spread throughout the city.

--

"It's very empty. Looks evacuated..." Alex noted as he entered a house.

"SPREAD OUT!!!" A voice commanded. Alex quickly ducked into one of the houses.

"Fuck, they noticed me..." Alex looked around the wooden house, noting the scarcity of stone buildings. He spotted bookshelves and approached them.

"Am... I lucky?" Alex pulled out a book.

"What... is this language... I can't read this!!!" The script was unfamiliar.

"Please have pictures..." Alex flipped through the book, relieved to find some illustrations.

"The pentagrams... what the fuck do I understand with this..." Alex sighed, continuing to search the house. It was empty except for a couch, a stone floor, and a wooden kitchen.

Unbeknownst to Alex, as he put the book down, it transformed into English.

"Huh?" Alex looked at the book, astonished. He quickly scanned it.

"Fire... ball? Spell... oh my god..." His eyes widened in disbelief at what he was reading.

This was actually a history about Magic in this world.

"Historical Magic??? I GOT A JACKPOT!!!" Alex immediately became happy, he looked at the first page and started to read it.

As he read through it he became more and more facinated, the book was describing spells and different skills it came from.

"How did this book end up in this place, this looks like some kind of place commoners would live in..." Alex read through it and finally, after coming to this magical world, he discovered the Magical System this world was using, and what he read... made him scared, and excited at the same time.

It was very interesting, and he smiled... looks like he would be very busy in this world.
