Chapter 9 - HEH, YOU'RE QUITE LUCKY.

[Curse (sss-grade) - an ability that enables the user to curse one, gives varying debuffs depending on ability, and can release a curse ranging from the F-grade to sss-grade. F-grade brings about a slight debuff. When the user releases a curse at the sss-grade, even the heavens would tremble in fear.]

An ability that enables the user to curse one? I wonder what kind of curse such a person can place that could cause even the heavens to tremble in fear. Anyway, these things were too far for him to think about for now.

Now he would just worry about getting a C-grade ability later today.

….

Time flowed smoothly, and in the blink of an eye, about two hours had passed. It was finally the moment of truth. Everyone was done drawing lots; they lined up in a straight line. Most, if not all, of them were nervous; they all knew one thing: one of them was about to die.

Raphael, along with Ray and the last guard, stepped forward. Raphael then left the two of them and went towards the prisoners. He spoke as soon as he reached the front of Bruth, "You all, don't try anything funny; unfold your lots paper; we'll start from you." He turned to look at Bruth straight in the eyes and said, i wonder how good your luck will be."

Hearing his words, Bruth slowly opened his lot paper under the gaze of everyone. He couldn't help but pray in his heart; like everyone else here, he was just looking for a way to live; he didn't want to lose his life so soon; he too was someone with big dreams.

Unfortunately, when he turned twenty, he awakened something called an ability. Following the awakening of his ability, it caused a commotion; his home planet was unable to withstand the impact following his ability awakening, causing his home planet to be destroyed.

His parents, his sister, his clan, everyone! Everyone was killed; he felt extreme sadness and couldn't do anything but stay there in anger towards himself. This was until, a few moments later, two old men appeared and arrested him, saying he was something called a world ender.

Without any chance to retort, he awoke on this planet, and since then, he had been struggling every single day for a chance to survive.

Everyone's gaze turned to the lot paper in his hand. When they said the number six, they couldn't help but look at him in envy. He was saved, at least for today.

Sensing everyone's gaze, he looked at the number he got and couldn't help but exhale in relief. He was safe; he hadn't run out of luck yet; at least he could still continue to dream and hope for a chance of survival.

….

"You are quite lucky; how many weeks has it been? Four? To think four weeks have passed and you are still present here." Raphael looked at Bruth with interest, as though he were looking at some unkillable cockroach.

Bruth wasn't the first zero that came this month; in fact, more than ten zeros had appeared this month. Most of them had died, with Bruth being the only one to continuously survive to this day.

"It seems I go excited for nothing; head over there," he said, pointing towards a distance to the right. "You, come over here; same rules; you are next." He gestured towards Gable.

Similar to Bruth, Gable's situation was similar, in the sense that when he awakened, his home planet was also destroyed as well. The situation that led to his awakening was quite different. He was chased away from his home; after leaving, he ventured into the world on his home planet.

When he was eighteen, he came across a shrine; there was spilled blood and numerous other oracles on the shrine. Intrigued, he entered the shrine, and the next moment, an influx of information appeared in his mind.

He awakened an S-level skill, but following that, the shrine began to crumble slowly, and in a few minutes, the whole world followed; everything was slowly crumbling to dust. After everything had crumbled into dust, he was left standing in space, alone.

He was looking over everything in shock when two black robbery men appeared and took him away, which led to his current situation, looking for a path to survival!!

After opening his lot paper, the prisoner once again cast envious gazes at him; he ran out of luck and wouldn't be dying today.

A person came up and opened his lot; this was Sloven. The main reason he was always radiating an intense killing intent was because when he was younger, his parents had taken him to an ancient ruin to explore; this ruin was a place where those that reached ages sixteen were made to go.

Passed down from their ancestors was the fact that if one is able to complete the mission in the ruin, they would be able to receive a great reward. As someone from a poor family, his only wish was to take care of his parents, so even when he was tasked with killing all the illusory figures in that realm, he did so.

Of course, he wasn't some sort of killing machine, and the only reason he agreed to the mission was because he was promised that the illusory figures in the ancient ruin weren't real and were just part of the mission.

He spent a few years killing his way to completion, and a few months after he had turned twenty, he finally heard a mission complete sound, and along with it came his ability.

He was extremely happy; he had finally completed the trial that hadn't been completed in years; he couldn't help but want to celebrate with his parents. There was only one issue: as he stepped out of the ruin, he still couldn't find any signs of life after traveling for a few months.

One auspicious day, two black-robed men appeared and told him he was responsible for the destruction of his home planet. Then it dawned on Sloven that the trial wasn't fake; rather, everything truly happened.

With his own hands, he killed his parents, siblings, friends, and everyone else on earth!!!

He didn't put up a fight and allowed himself to be arrested, he was a sinner, this was his punishment, there was no redemption for him!

To be continued...
