Walking through the city square hurts.
No, it's not the cold air. There aren't many people around, but the people themselves are the problem.
I'm alone, wandering the square. Shame washes over me as I realize I have no one to be with. It feels so awkward being all alone.
Around me, I see couples and friends laughing and talking. I don't dare approach them; I'm too scared.
After a short walk, I head back. Suddenly, I'm startled by a drunk man who mumbles something nonsensical. He extends his arms for a hug and wobbles towards me. Luckily, I manage to avoid him.
Reaching the stoplight, I see a girl about my age. She has short black hair, cream pants, and a nice face. She seems to be in a hurry and runs across the street against the red light.
I decide to follow her once the light turns green. She's quite fast, but I'm able to keep up. She seems to be talking to someone on her phone.
I find it strange that she's being followed and has no idea. It's a scary situation, and I want to assure you that I have no intention of harming her. I would simply like to talk and get to know her.
Getting closer, I admire her cream pants and find her attractive. I'm right behind her when a car screeches to a halt nearby, seemingly due to a flat tire. She turns to see it, and I'm frozen in place right behind her. I look at the car for a bit too long, hoping she doesn't suspect I'm following her.
When I look back at her again, there's a significant gap. I start to jog slightly to catch up. Thankfully, there's another stoplight at a busy intersection. I catch up but maintain a distance.
She walks down a street I've never been on before. I hesitate, not wanting to stray too far from home, but I decide to follow a little further. She keeps talking on her phone, and it starts to frustrate me. Why can't she talk to me?
As I follow her, I wonder if she'll turn left or right. I stare at her, and just before she turns, a man walks in front of me, blocking my view. Once he passes, I jog slightly to catch up, I look left and right but she's nowhere to be seen. It's as if she vanished into thin air.
I look around the street some more, finding an interesting bakery along the way. I also pause to observe some construction sites before finally heading home to bed.
