Han Yu coincidentally looked sideways and noticed Sun Hua looking in their direction. He slightly pushed Duan Yuxi with his shoulder to gesture him to look towards the direction where Sun Hua was seated.
"Yuxi,ice beauty is looking at us,"Han Yu said with a smug smile.
"Where?"
Duan Yuxi was excited. Ice beauty was Sun Hua's nickname because she was very beautiful and had a cold pallid face resembling the beauty of the snow. Duan Yuxi had had a crush on her for a year but he was too afraid to approach her so he could only admire her from far. Chen Jun followed their gazes and looked towards the same direction as them but Sun Hua looked away immediately she met Chen Jun's gaze.
That evening when Sun Hua went back home,her mother was seated in the living room busy on her laptop.
"How was your first day?"Sun Lian asked without looking up.
"Not bad,"Sun Hua replied not sounding interested in continuing the conversation.
"You're late. Chen Jun arrived a lot earlier."
"I missed the bus."
Sun Hua freshened up and changed into her comfy tomboyish clothes and went downstairs. Sun Lian was still there. She cast a glance at Sun Hua showing both annoyance and disapproval.
"I know you hate girlish clothes especially your uniform,"Sun Lian sighed in frustration.
"Is there a problem?"
"I saw our neighbor's daughter. At least she knows how to dress like a girl."
"Why don't you adopt her then?"Sun Hua scoffed and walked away. She headed to the kitchen and opened the fridge taking out a drink and went back to her room to do homework.
For the whole time they had lived there ,Sun Lian had never been interested in her neighbours and she didn't know the identity of some of them but since Chen Jun and his family moved into the neighborhood,she seems fascinated with them. Maybe it was because of the first impression Zhao Ying gave her .
Meanwhile at Chen Jun's house,the boy sat cozily in the living room playing videogames while munching on his favourite snacks. Zhao Ying came back from work and walked in carrying a full shopping bag.
"How was your first day?"Zhao Ying asked with slight smile plastered on her lips.
"Great."
"Why are you playing videogames? Don't you have homework?"
"What kind of teacher gives out homework on the first day?"Chen Jun pointed out in annoyance and disdain.
Zhao Ying headed to the kitchen,placed the shopping bag away and started preparing dinner.
Wednesdays and Fridays were the only days nonsport clubs held their meetings while the sport clubs went for practice on all school days because constant practice was essential to hone the players' skills. Sun Hua was a member of the music club because of her excellent skills in playing the drum. Since the previous year's senior students left,the music club had been lacking a potential main male vocalist. On Wednesday evening,many boys went to audition but none of them was pleasing enough. They had no choice but to pick the one who sounded better than the rest and have him attend vocal classes to improve his singing.
Chen Jun on the other hand joined football club just like Han Yu and Duan Yuxi. By the time they finished their practice match,Chen Jun looked rather sad. After the others left,he was left with his two friends who kept inquiring about his sudden change of mood but he brushed them off and walked away leaving them perplexed by his actions.
After the music club meeting,Sun Hua was the last to leave the music room. She went to her classroom to pick up her backpack but as she walked out of the classroom she suddenly remembered she hadn't locked the music room so she went back to lock it otherwise the club members would tear her into pieces if something got lost from the music room because of her carelessness.
Sun Hua heard an aggressive sound of the guitar while approaching the room. The sound got louder as she walked nearer towards the music room. She stopped in her tracks when she felt the sound was familiar. She recalled the encounter with Chen Jun. To her utmost expectation, Chen Jun was in the music room playing one of the guitars. She watched him silently for a while until she realized he wasn't aware of her arrival. She walked to the side where drums were located , grabbed a drumstick and beat the drum repeatedly to gain Chen Jun's attention.
Chen Jun stopped playing the guitar and got up and turned to face her,with a scary look on his handsome face.
"Why are you playing the guitar like a madman?"
Although Sun Hua sounded confident she was afraid of the outcome of her words especially the fact that she compared Chen Jun to a mad man. But the latter didn't do or say anything. He let his eyes convey the message by glaring daggers at Sun Hua simply meaning he was irritated with her presence.
Sun Hua was relieved when Chen Jun didn't react violently at all. She shifted her attention towards something else and that's when she noticed some of the boy's fingertips were bleeding. He noticed her staring at his fingertips and followed her gaze and realized his fingertips were bleeding because he used too much pressure while playing the aggressive tune on the guitar.
"Didn't someone tell you to use finger caps when playing the guitar? And this is the music room nonmembers are not allowed in,"Sun Hua said pointing to a printed paper glued on the wall . The paper contained a list of the music club rules.
Sun Hua walked closer towards him to examine his fingertips. He yanked his hand away and stormed out of the room. Sun Hua was also left perplexed,unable to understand how this boy who was looking overly blissful during lunch break had shifted into such an irritable mood. She shook her head in disbelief and walked out of the room locking the door behind her.
