Days passed and Chen Jun got more popular at school. Girls were already fighting over him. The class one female students would serve their food and sit calmly waiting for Chen Jun. They wouldn't eat without him. Students from other classes wouldn't believe that this bunch of nerds would wait for just one person to eat at the same time with them.
"I heard the class one girls call him Lord Jun,"Gao Han started the conversation at their table.
"Lord Jun?"One girl snorted," Can't those nerds look for a better nickname?"
"I also worship him,"Gao Han squealed with excitement.
"I'd say that Chen Jun guy suffers from delusions of grandeur,"Sun Hua commented after a while.
The class three monitor Gu Cheng walked towards the class three students' table intending to inform them something.
"Sun Hua,Madam Cai wants to see you ,"Gu Cheng said with his usual solemn expression that's always plastered on his face.
"Why? Is she in trouble?"Gao Han asked in a fearful voice.
"I don't know,"Gu Cheng shrugged and left.
Sun Hua got up from her seat ready to leave.
"Why don't you finish your meal first?"Gao Han suggested.
"I don't want to make her angry."
"How caring of you,"another girl commented sarcastically.
"What if you come back and find the cafeteria is closed?"
"It's not my first time skipping lunch."
Sun Hua dashed out of the cafeteria and rushed to the office. When she entered the office, she quickly spotted Madam Cai who was seated at the center of the room and had a pile of arranged scripts on top of her desk but there was one script placed aside. Sun Hua could already tell what kind of trouble she was in.
"Madam Cai,"Sun Hua called out nervously.
"Sun Hua,how many times have I told you guys to always write your names on the scripts? If I didn't record the scores I wouldn't notice yours was missing."
"I'm sorry, Madam Cai,"Sun Hua bowed apologetically.
"Anyway your essay is not bad,"Madam Cai remarked before allowing her to go. Sun Hua mumbled a thank you ,bowed perfunctorily and left.
Madam Cai Lihua was the Class three English teacher and the best English teacher in the school. She was twenty six years old ,one of the youngest teachers around. She was a sophisticated young woman and popular for her beauty with students gushing how beautiful she was others wishing they were older than her to be able to court her.
Sun Hua rushed back to the cafeteria only to find that all the others had gone. There were only scattered individuals left there;most were faces she had never seen before. Sun Hua's food was covered on the table where she and her classmates had settled earlier and to her surprise Chen Jun was seated on the same table.
"Your friends left the food here,"Chen Jun started the conversation after a while of exchanging awkward glances with each other .
Sun Hua sat across from him, uncovered her food and ate quietly. Chen Jun suddenly passed a piece of watermelon to her.
"Why are you giving me this?"Sun Hua asked looking perplexed.
"I hate watermelons."
"Why didn't you serve oranges then?"
"I served late and they were out."
"How surprising! I'm sure your classmates didn't enjoy the meal because you were not there,"Sun Hua mumbled mockingly.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing. Just take my orange then,"Sun Hua faked a smile and passed her unpeeled orange to him.
"Thanks,"Chen Jun beamed a smile. Sun Hua was surprised to see him smile and thinking of it he actually looked more handsome when smiling.
Sun Hua and Chen Jun chatted casually while eating and went back to their respective classes later. That night after dinner,Sun Hua went to her room to do her homework. She scratched her head and cracked her brain in attempt to solve the math problems. After she was done with her homework, she closed her books planning to retire to bed but before she could get in bed,she heard a familiar singing voice. The voice sounded loud, clear and sweet and she could tell there was close proximity between the singer and her house. The song Chen Jun was singing was Sun Hua's favourite song 'Alchemy Of Time ' so she opened her window to listen more.
In the quiet chambers of our hearts,
Where memories blend with stardust,
We're alchemists of moments, weaving spells,
Turning seconds into eternity's trust.
Alchemy of time, our secret art,
Brewing love from fleeting hours,
Transmuting laughter, tears, and sighs,
Into golden memories, fragrant as flowers.
We mix laughter with moonlight,
Distill kisses from the morning dew,
Our crucible—the warmth of touch,
And every heartbeat whispers, "I choose you."
Sun Hua was so caught up in the moment that she found herself smiling like a fool while singing along.
Chen Jun waved at her excitedly and stopped singing.
"Hey what do you think of my singing?"Chen Jun asked smiling brightly.
"Your voice is beautiful,"she replied not sure if the compliment was enough.
"Tonight I did not ruin your backyard,"Chen Jun said with enthusiasm in his voice.
"I'm glad you didn't ruin it either."
"Tonight I'll sing you a lullaby."
"Okay,"she responded with a smile.
Sun Hua closed her window and went to bed while listening to him sing her a lullaby .
