Chapter 5 - The Black Family

Most magic warriors would treasure their descendants greatly. Moreover, mage requires a long time to become strong because they have to accumulate a lot of mana.

This process usually took years or even more.

Because of this, it was rare to see children being sent to the battlefield unless the situation required it. And for some families, their inheritance magic could more or less offset the need for large mana.

Black Family was one of them.

if their inheritance magic was to merge with the shadow, it would technically not use any mana or only very little, which would allow them to become the perfect spy. However, there were naturally danger because if they met with magic warriors or mages who were good at sensory, they could still be found.

For example, the White Family.

Well, then there was the long history filled with blood and tears between the two families whose abilities were mutually restraining each other.

"Do you want to greet him?" Evan asked.

In his opinion, a genius like him should be worth befriending.

After all, he himself was also a little genius in the family.

"If you want to, it's fine." Aya threw the question back to Evan. She knew the tense relationship between the two families and Evan might know a bit about it too.

But they were children right now.

What could be expected from children?

They wouldn't know how deep the hatred between the two families..

Even then, Aya refused to be the one to take the initiative. She knew how tense the relationship between these magic families during the fourth head's rule was.

"Hmm…" Evan was contemplating about this.

The people who came back also saw the two children who were standing near the forefront. First, their short stature was a bit conspicuous. Secondly, the other villagers clearly tried to stay away from them. Thirdly, their white robe and the familiar family crest on their sleeve and back was very clear.

They came from the White Family.

"Why are there children from the White Family here?" some of the magic warrior from the Black Family murmured among themselves.

One of them pointed at the Green Family members not far from them.

HIs friend showed a look of understanding.

The Green Family was more popular. Even the children from other magic families usually liked them.

Hell, who would want to offend medical personnel?

They wouldn't know how they die in the end.

"Uncle, can I talk with them?" The boy who was among the Black Family suddenly asked.

The Black Family's Patriarch glanced at his nephew and nodded. "Alright, you can go. Don't forget to come back early later, Silas."

"Yes, Uncle."

The boy answered cheerfully and then ran to the two children who were discussing with each other. He smiled brightly and greeted, "Hello."

Aya raised her head and saw the dazzling smile from the black haired boy in front of her. Blinking her eyes once, Aya then responded, "Hello."

Evan, who still couldn't make a decision, also quickly noticed Silas who came to them. He quickly bowed slightly. "Hello, my name is Evan White. It's nice to meet you."

So polite…

Thinking about the etiquette education that she was imposed on, Aya sighed deeply. In her time, the etiquette of the White Family was still important but not as much as at the current time. She felt rather tortured when she had to pay attention to her manner at all times.

Thankfully, most of them were already drilled to her.

So for Aya, it was not that difficult.

But other children were learning for the first time in their lives and they already had to follow the strict rules. It was truly not easy for these children from the big families to grow up happily.

"I'm Silas Black," Silas quickly introduced himself. He felt awkward when he saw the attitude of the White Family. Their etiquette would not lose even if they were compared to the nobles in the distant kingdoms, which often made them feel somewhat unapproachable.

It could be said that while the Green Family's popularity was at the peak, the White Family and the Black Family were harder to get along with.

The Black Family looked rather terrifying and this Silas was one weirdo who was quite different because he liked smiling so much. This made him look much more approachable.

The White Family looked high and noble, which made other people look so far away from them. This made those who wanted to get close to them feel that they were not worthy when their own etiquette was far from reaching the standard.

Though, the White Family members were not arrogant.

So they could still somewhat get along with the other people in the city.

"I'm Aya White," Aya also introduced herself with a faint bow. She was not wearing a dress, so naturally she couldn't curtsy. Anyway, this etiquette was also correct and more commonly used as the female magic warrior didn't usually wear a dress.

If they were to wear a dress, how could they fight properly?

Well, there were naturally some exceptions.

But Aya was not included in those.

"Can I ask whether you have gone to the battlefield?" Evan asked after the three children fell into silence.

Silas was not sure what he could talk about with these children whom he met with for the first time. After all, he only noticed their gazes on him and his family once and decided to try stepping forward and talked with them.

"Yes." Silas nodded. "My Uncle said that I'm strong enough to help, so I was brought to the battlefield last year."

Last year…

Evan looked at Silas up and down.

If he was not wrong, Silas was only 8 years old or so last year, right?

Could he really help with the war at such a young age?

Perhaps the doubt in Evan's eyes were too strong, Silas looked at Evan helplessly. "I'm really strong, I can show you if you want to."
