I had a smirk on my face when I turned to the Priest. "Do you think that's by birth or by temperament?" I asked, unable to keep the amusement out of my voice.
The Priest didn't say anything, only cocked his head to the side to study me.
"He said that he couldn't let some bastard sit on his throne… is that bastard by birth or by temperament? Because I am pretty sure that none of the Nycteromyians were born in wedlock," I continued with my one sided conversation.
Shrugging my shoulders, I turned my attention back to where the Rein had disappeared down the tunnel. A small part of me wondered if he had met with Vu'tuip on the way out or not.
"You are different," murmured the Priest, calling my attention back to him. "I have never seen you like this before."
"I am different," I agreed, my face still smiling. However, it was no longer the submissive one that I had shown the Rein.
