Cedric stared at the basin surrounded by mountains on every side, resembling a bowl of danger. As he turned around, he saw the portal that had teleported him here closing, and beyond it was nothing.
Empty space.
The end of the world.
"I would hardly call this a floor," Cedric muttered with a smile as he looked around, placing his hands in his pockets. "I daresay the summoner is somewhere in this forest. From the looks of it, the fight has already begun."
Cedric knew he was late, but that was expected for heroes. They always arrive late. But then, he remembered who he was: a dispensable extra.
Even if he wished, he couldn't oppose the story or deviate it from its natural flow. Therefore, he had to be a shadow—unnoticed but somehow ensuring the major plotline was followed.
"Extra this, extra that," Cedric muttered with a shake of his head. "I just need to level up for now, right? And defeat a summoner here and there."
