Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

The dead are gone, and the dead are gone.

In the jungle of the Black State, a very luxurious palace was built, which seemed like a paradise, without any trace of the undead.

The servants chatted and laughed, cleaned the palace, and tended to the flowers and plants, with no sense of fear at all.

Inside the palace, a young and handsome man, Ethan, sat on the throne, enjoying the service of the servants.

"It feels so good to be young. I never expected that I would be blessed by fate even though I was at death's door. From now on, I will be immortal and enjoy eternal happiness."

Ethan laughed and casually touched one of the maids beside him.

However, he suddenly sensed something unusual—a seed had died in his brain. This was strange because the undead would never harm those they were connected to.

Could it be that someone had interfered with the New Order? But the armies of all nations had been infiltrated and infected by himself and his followers, so how could someone kill his own people?

Ethan realized it was in the Dragon Country area and immediately contacted the Archbishop of Dragon Country.

"Bishop Zane, has anything unusual happened in Dragon Country?"

Zane was originally a prominent figure in the country. When he was on the brink of death, Ethan saved him and granted him immortality, leading him to join the New Order.

Using his influence, Zane spread the zombie virus throughout the nation. When Ethan activated it, an unstoppable zombie crisis erupted.

Seeing Ethan's call, Zane, who had been studying foreign languages in bed, immediately stood up and responded, "Reporting to you, there's something interesting. There's a human who isn't afraid of conventional weapons. Even armor-piercing bullets are useless against him, but he doesn't seem to be blessed by the gods."

Ethan found this intriguing. His power was immense, but not enough to withstand armor-piercing bullets. He could only shrug off small arms fire.

Without the ability to manipulate the infected, Ethan didn't believe he could take on the entire world alone.

This person might be his chance to grow stronger.

"Can you capture him?"

"No, there's no way to sedate him. He can even bring down planes with stones. I doubt a tank could withstand a punch from him. Our current forces are not strong enough."

Zane spoke helplessly. Even with many people infected, their total numbers didn't exceed 200,000.

Operating a large number of militarized equipment was impossible.

Ethan fell silent, his mood darkening. He hadn't expected that there would be a force beyond his control after the world's end.

Not even conventional weapons could deal with him, unless they used nuclear bombs, but neither Ethan nor his men had access to those.

Moreover, launching a nuclear bomb required numerous procedures and involved many people.

They had secretly infected all the nuclear bases in advance, fearing that the world's nuclear powers might launch their arsenals.

This time, it seemed they had set a trap for themselves.

"In that case, send all the other zombies to his city and keep him busy. Our lifespan is unlimited. He's just a human with some strength. How can he compare with us?"

In the end, Ethan identified the man's weakness. With global transportation paralyzed, it would take more than ten years for the man to travel from Asia to Black State.

Zane nodded, understanding. He had considered dealing with this coldly.

But since Ethan had spoken, he directed the zombies from other cities toward Gold Coast City.

Ethan, still battling the undead, was unaware of the New Order's conspiracy against him.

Even if he knew, he wouldn't care. Ethan had no idea how powerful he had become.

Continuously killing zombies, his strength kept increasing. One day, he might destroy billions of undead worldwide.

He might even crush a planet with a single punch.

If Ethan was unhappy, no one would have a good life.

Three days later, Logan reluctantly taught others how to make zombie serum. However, this serum was only effective within three hours of being bitten.

After three hours, the human body began to turn into a zombie, and even more serum was useless.

However, the serum was only a backup. Ethan made plenty of blood vials daily, which could be made with just zombie blood.

Everyone carried a vial with them, applying a drop of blood to their foreheads to activate a protective shield.

Besides, unless they were combatants, no one else would encounter zombies in the shelter.

After dealing with a licker, Ethan felt something strange. Why were there so many zombies these past few days, all heading in this direction?

"Father, our shelter's radius has reached 50 kilometers, but the range is too large. We don't have enough manpower, and simple fortifications can no longer stop the zombies."

Quinn saw Ethan finish the battle and immediately came over to advise him. Even though they had gathered many survivors in recent days, there were still only about 4,000 people in the shelter.

"I understand. Let's retreat 20 kilometers. I can sense more and more zombies coming. It's likely that zombies from other areas of the city are converging here. We need to build a tall wall."

Ethan accepted Quinn's suggestion. After all, a 30-kilometer radius covered 2,700 square kilometers.

This included hospitals, schools, shopping malls, factories, and farmland, enough for people to recuperate.

If anything was missing, they could send combatants to retrieve it.

"No problem. We've already resumed work at a cement factory. Fortunately, Gold Coast has a thermal power plant; otherwise, it would be difficult for us to resume work." Quinn smiled, full of hope for the future. He admired Ethan, who had immense military power but wasn't arrogant or self-serving. Everything he did was for humanity, not for selfish desires.

"That's good. Once the wall is built, humanity will have a complete hope for a counterattack!" Ethan said excitedly, knowing this would increase his chances of completing his special mission.

As the two returned to the Central Mall together, a little boy gathered the courage to approach Ethan.

"Father, I made this bun myself for you to eat."

Ethan looked at the boy, who was still a little afraid of him, realizing that his reputation as a killer was still too overwhelming. However, many people had grown accustomed to it, knowing that only such a man could keep everyone in line.

"Your name is Lucas, right? Thank you for the bun. Study hard, and you'll be a great rebuilder in the future."

Ethan took the bun from the boy and encouraged him.

Lucas scratched his head, embarrassed. "I want to be a warrior like you and crush the zombies!"

"Haha, you've got spirit. You're braver than most. Many people don't dare to face the zombies."

Ethan praised him.
