The people were relieved when they realized that Ethan would return. Although everyone knew that Ethan would eventually leave forever, they didn't expect that day to come so soon. In fact, if Ethan left and never came back, there would be no major issue within the shelter. Rachel's strength was already formidable, and conventional weapons had little effect on her. The others were also quite powerful, just slightly less so than Rachel. In short, with their abilities, the shelter wouldn't easily fall. Ethan's departure did not attract much attention from the ordinary survivors, and it wouldn't have mattered even if they knew about it. After witnessing the combatants' overwhelming strength, those with ulterior motives realized they stood no chance.
Linhaven, a city near Goldshore—Ethan did not take a car but ran the entire way. With an agility surpassing 10,000, Ethan was already moving faster than 1,000 kilometers per hour.
Even the high-speed train couldn't match Ethan's speed.
Although Marcus did not know the exact locations of the other New Church bases, they all had one thing in common: facilities such as air-raid shelters in various locations. Naturally, Ethan used this standard to search for them.
As expected, he found an experimental base of the New Church in an air-raid shelter in Linhaven.
Ethan punched through the entrance of the experimental base. The guards did not anticipate such a formidable force suddenly arriving. The defense line collapsed quickly, and the researchers fled to the last laboratory, attempting to use infrared beams to cut through Ethan's body. However, the rays were ineffective, like ordinary light, causing no harm.
"What do you want?!" a researcher screamed.
"I'm just collecting a little interest from the New Church. Did you think you could live in peace after committing so many atrocities?" Ethan grinned, a terrifying expression that seemed to channel the screams of countless wronged souls.
"No, no, no! This has nothing to do with me. I'm just a researcher. I didn't do anything! I was just following orders. If I didn't do it, someone else would," the researcher pleaded.
"That doesn't matter. I'd rather kill the wrong person than let you go!" Ethan replied disdainfully. "But if you can tell me where the headquarters of the New Life Church is, I might consider sparing your life."
"I don't know! I'm just a small fry. I didn't want to do this, but if I didn't, my family would be killed."
"So your family is still alive, huh? I almost forgot about them. Don't worry. Families should stay together," Ethan said coldly, showing no intention of leaving any loose ends.
"You! How could you do this? Don't make my family suffer!"
"But how many families have been destroyed by your New Life Church? You dare speak to me about sparing your family? Nobody forced you to join them." Realizing the man was useless, Ethan ended the conversation and ended the researcher's life with a single punch.
He also eliminated the researcher for his tyranny, oppression, and abuse of the survivors' families within the shelter.
"From today, wait here. The zombies outside won't enter the shelter. Someone will come to pick you up and take you to a new shelter. During this time, manage yourselves, distribute the remaining supplies, and hold out until support arrives."
"Don't even think about forming gangs or hoarding food. When the time comes, your crimes will be judged. No matter how many are involved, I will punish you severely!" Ethan spoke sternly. He couldn't take them with him, so he left the task of transporting them to Michael and the others, who would drive the truck over. This journey would take about two or three days.
The survivors watched in awe as Ethan displayed his power, killing the guards and the shelter director. The murderous aura he exuded left them trembling. As for the support Ethan mentioned, few believed it, as they were convinced that human society was finished. But fearing Ethan's strength, they spontaneously formed a management committee, distributed food equally, and waited for rescue.
That maniac didn't seem like someone who was easy to negotiate with. No one believed in the concept of "safety in numbers" anymore.
Ethan quickly left the experimental base. Heading north, he knew that the imperial capital might be where the New Life Church's headquarters was located.
The news of the experimental base's destruction left General Kane frustrated. He had thought that Ethan was preoccupied with the zombies and had gone quiet for a month, but to his dismay, Ethan had launched an assault on the bases in other cities.
However, what shocked General Kane even more was that within two hours, Ethan had destroyed two more bases.
These three locations were at least 600 kilometers apart. How did he do it? The footage confirmed it was indeed Ethan.
And Ethan's objective was crystal clear—the headquarters in the imperial capital.
Could his position have been exposed? This was bad; he couldn't defeat that monster!
Now, the only one who could save him was His Holiness the Pope.
So General Kane hurriedly called Washington using the satellite phone.
"Your Holiness, something terrible has happened. That monster—he's gone berserk and started attacking our experimental bases."
At that moment, Washington was enjoying foie gras and caviar. Seeing General Kane's call, he was a bit impatient.
"It's just a few experimental bases. If they're destroyed, they're destroyed."
"But he destroyed three in less than three hours, meaning he can travel at least 1,500 kilometers in three hours. Even if he heads to Black Continent, it would only take him a day."
General Kane knew he needed to make the Pope feel threatened, or he would never intervene.
Washington was also taken aback. This wasn't something a human could do. Could the man be an alien?
Maybe he had special flying machines to move quickly, but why would an alien target the New Church?
"I understand. I'll inform the higher powers and let them decide," Washington said seriously, internally sighing at the vastness of the universe and realizing that humans were not the only beings.
He went to a separate room and took out a cube-shaped black object from a treasure box.
Washington pressed his finger on it, and a creature was projected before him.
"Great God of Hope and Salvation, your humble servant Washington seeks your aid."
"Oh, now that the zombie virus has spread globally, who could stand against you?"
The shadowy figure asked curiously. After all, without the armies of various nations, Washington could control all the zombies to fight.
Billions of zombies were enough to defeat any surface enemy.
"The great God of Hope and Salvation, this being isn't from this planet. He's an alien. Here's the footage. He has immense strength, defense, and incredible speed."
"Most importantly, he harbors deep hostility toward our New Church and has destroyed several of our experimental bases."
Washington didn't dare to hide Ethan's power, recounting everything with a heart full of anxiety and fear.
The shadow hadn't expected such a creature on this planet. Even on his home planet, there were no beings with such powerful bodies.
This disrupted his plans, and he had to eliminate this threat, or at the very least, prevent him from destroying the experimental bases.
