Chapter 15 - Sudden Millionaire

Max hated to admit it, but Lola's lips tasted the sweetest. He couldn't even remember what she tasted like in high school, it was more of a forgotten memory. But at this moment, she tasted like a blended mix of all the juiciest berries, it filled him with a certain amount of passionate strength. He wasn't sure if it was their soul bond or it was how she tasted naturally.

He kissed her with fervor and fiery desires, he suckled on her lips and explored with his tongue. He stole her breath away because he didn't give her time to breathe nor did he give her room to move. His arms were clasped tightly around her body, restricting her from moving.

But the annoyance that filled Lola up charged her strength and made her able to push Max off her, breaking the kiss.

"Damn you, Max. Why would you kiss me like that ?"

"I had to. And I needed to. I think we're good. You will receive the money soon. See you later for the wedding preparations." Max said and immediately excused himself from the room, he needed to go take care of a sudden business that aroused inside of his pants. He needed to jerk off. The kiss was like a catalyst that unlocked some hidden desires in him.

It was strange. And he didn't want her to see the outline of his hardened length. That's why he rushed out of the room, leaving Lola there with a flushed and annoyed face.

"What the hell!" Lola exclaimed, standing there and facing the doorway Max used to exit the room.

She quickly wiped her lips with the back of her hand, even though he had shoved his tongue into her mouth and she had kissed him back instinctually, she still couldn't let his taste linger in her mouth, nor could she allow the feel of his lip to linger on hers.

Once again, she muttered to herself as she exited the room, "This is just starting, and it is already so hard."

Lola arrived at the hospital some minutes later, when she alighted the cab, her phone dinged with a new notification that just come in. With bated breaths, she brought out her phone and saw the message alert that her bank account had just been credited with ten million dollars.

The shock of the many zeros. The shock that this was actually real. The shock that she never thought she would ever be in the possession of such a grand amount of money. All that shock combined made her knees weaken and she crashed to the ground, with hot tears streaming down her face.

It was unbelievable.

She picked up her phone again and looked at the message alert, reading it over and over again. But it didn't disappear. The numbers didn't change. Everything remained the same. She was actually the owner of ten million dollars.

Was this how easy it was?

Get yourself a billionaire. And the problem is solved.

Was it this easy to actually become a millionaire?

Even though she knew pretty clearly that it wasn't an easy feat. But to her, it still feels easy. She would have had to sell a million drinks at the bar to gather just ten percent of that money. And that's if there are a lot of tips and the economy wasn't inflating so damn high.

"What in the actual world?" She mumbled. Embarrassment was a forgone emotion because passersby kept staring at her and giving her weird looks for just sitting on the dirty ground and staring at her phone like it was a new device, a new technology she had never seen before.

It took Lola a while to recompose herself and finally found her way into the hospital on shaky legs and heavy breaths.

Even though the price for getting this money was getting married to her first love, the man she hated the most, she was still happy to now have the power to take proper care of her brother and give him the comfortable life he truly deserves.

When she saw James on his phone but with a pale face, she broke into tears and rushed to engulf his lying figure. "James, I'm so sorry." She rasped. She wasn't sure why she apologized to him, but she felt the need to. Guilt was something that nagged her constantly, especially when she saw her brother in pain or discomfort.

So setting her eyes on him again as he was connected to IVV fluids, and the loss of color on his face plunged that guilt to bite her again.

"Lola, why are you crying? Stop crying." James held his sister tight with worry etched on his face as he patted her back, comforting her to stop crying.

"I don't know. I'm just, I don't even know." Lola stumbled on her words.

"It's okay. Don't cry." James soothed.

Taking a few minutes to calm down, Lola finally was able to speak without hiccuping as she stared at her brother with so much love in her eyes.

"Is it painful? Are you in any pain?" She asked him.

"No pain. Just discomfort all over. Were you able to get any help from work?" He asked her.

"The manager is such a big liar, he's claiming the bar is in a huge debt, so he can't help me," Lola replied.

"Wow, so who do we turn to now?" James' eyes got teary, he was also scared of losing his life to cancer. He didn't want to pressure his sister, but he couldn't help but get sad.

"Don't worry, James. I found a solution."

"You are not selling your kidney, are you?" James exclaimed, worried. But his question made his sister burst into laughter.

"No, no selling of kidneys. But I got a million-dollar contract out of the blue. I couldn't reject it. It's not fishy. It's just weird. But all in all, we can sort out the medical bills and life afterward." Lola answered with an assuring smile.

"Lola, what million-dollar contract is that?" James asked in a surprised tone but didn't shout.

"Me." Max's voice interrupted the siblings, "I'm the millions dollar deal your sister got."
