Raymond walked out of the restaurant and got into his car. He let out a scream of frustration and slammed his head into the steering wheel several times. After calming down a little, Raymond drove his car out of the parking lot onto the roads.
After driving for a while, he had a phone call. He parked his car by the roadside and got out. At that time of the night, there weren't much people outside, so Raymond saw it as an ideal time to talk.
"Hello dad," he greeted on the phone.
"Were you able to talk to her ?"
"No, I couldn't. She doesn't even want to see me." Raymond reported.
"This is all your fault!" his father accused. "If you had kept your affair far beyond reach, this wouldn't have happened. But no, you weren't smart enough and you got exposed. She is the only chance we had to getting Fred's business."
Raymond sighed annoyingly as his father raged on. "I told you the plan was to make her fall for your charms and after Fred hands over the businesses to her, you can fool her into putting them in your name. But now what do we do if she doesn't even want to see you anymore ?"
"Dad relax," Raymond implored. "I'll try and get this situation under control."
"There's nothing you can do now, son. We have to go with the backup plan. I don't know when Fred will handover the businesses, but now it doesn't even matter. What matters now is that we execute this plan perfectly."
"So you want me to get the men ready ?" Raymond asked.
"As soon as possible." his father affirmed. "You know what to do once you get hold of her."
"When should we set the operation into action ?"
"Is our informant still working in their house ?"
"Yes, dad" I verified. "Our informant tells me what goes on, in and out of their house. Luckily, no suspects a thing about our informant."
"Very good. Ask the informant when there's a suitable time we can strike. Then let the boys do their thing."
"Okay dad."
"Don't screw this up!"
Raymond's father hanged up and Raymond looked at his watch. It was very late, so he got into his car and drove off to his house.
He started to undress once he got into the house and made his way to his bedroom. When he got there, he saw his "ex girlfriend" half naked lying on the bed, which was decorated with red petals, aligned in a love shape. The room was dimly lit and there was jazz playing in the background.
"Hey there babe," she called out. "I've been waiting for you."
She gestured him to come over to her seductively but Raymond wasn't having it. Raymond just sat at the edge of the bed, with his back facing her.
"I'm not in the mood, Serena."
Serena took the remote and turned off the jazz music. She crawled to Raymond and caressed him on the back. "Did you have a rough day, honey ?"
Raymond ignored her and got up after taking off his shoes. Serena was taken back by his sudden movement. Raymond walked to his shoe wardrobe and placed his shoes there. He started to take off his trousers.
"What's the problem now ?" Serena quizzed in a plain voice. "What did I do to deserve this treatment ?"
Raymond finally pulled off his trousers and placed it in his vast wardrobe of trousers. "It's not you babe. I'm getting pissed off about this Sonya situation."
"You still can't reach out to her ?"
"Yes," Raymond said as he sat at the edge of the bed, with some distance between him and Serena. "And my dad is bantering me and blaming it on our affair..."
Serena moved forward and hugged Raymond from behind. "You know this is not an affair. To the outside world, you are my ex boyfriend but in here, we are soul mates."
Raymond looked up at her and gave her a gentle kiss. "You are right, sugar. So now, we are resorting to go with plan B."
"Oooh I see. I still don't know plan B, babe." she cooed.
"In time you'll know." he smirked.
"Okay," Serena agreed satisfyingly. "You must be tired today. Why don't I put you at ease tonight...."
"Do what you do best, babe..."

My alarm rang and I reluctantly got out of bed. I took my bath, brushed my teeth and flossed before moving to my wardrobe. I picked a formal attire, wore it together with my shoes and moved to my makeup corner. I sat down and applied some light makeup on my face. I took some strong cologne and sprayed it all over my body. I inspected myself in front of my mirror and took my handbag before going downstairs.
As I walked towards the door, one of the house workers called out. "Miss Hanson, wouldn't you mind eating this morning ?"
"No, Mike. I would order food at work. Thanks." I answered.
"Okay Miss Hanson." he said as he left my presence. I continued and walked out of the house. The driver was waiting outside with one of the cars my dad gave me for work purposes only. I got into the car and he drove me out of the big compound. On my way, I received a phone call. It was Olivia.
"Hey babe, what's up ?"
"I'm good," she responded. "How are you doing ? Are you still mad about last night ?"
Until then, I had forgotten all that happened last night and when I remembered them, I decided to let them go. It's all in the past and I'm hoping not to re-experience them ever again. It's time to move on.
"No, I'm not." I assured. "Everything is alright now. Let's pretend that none of it ever happened. Is that okay ?"
"If you say so, Sonnie."
"So have you got any ideas for the business ?" I asked.
"I have a few ideas that can be lucrative and do the job for you. You'll have to decide though."
"Okay, so let's meet at the Golden City mall for some coffee and discuss about the ideas this afternoon if you are free." I proposed.
"Oh I'll be free this afternoon," Olivia announced. "And I know there's a catch to this. We are going shopping after the conversation, right ?"
I laughed. "You know me too well, Olivia. Don't worry, we would just be shopping for some clothes this time round."
"Don't lose track of time today. Just remember you will still have to go back to work after the shopping."
"I know, I know, Olivia. Don't worry, I won't forget this time around." I looked out of the window and I could see we were getting closer to the brewery. "Uhm, I have to go to work now. Call you later babe."
"Later babe."
I got out of the car as the driver alighted me and drove off. I walked into the building of the brewery and a lot of workers were showering me with greetings. I suspect most of the greetings from the male workers as flirts but I was far from interested in such a chit chat. I was just about walking to my office when I was approached by one of my assistant managers.
"Good morning, Miss Hanson." he greeted.
"Morning, Phillip." I responded. "Have you gathered the anonymous complaints from the workers as I asked ?"
"Yes, Miss Hanson." he nodded. "I have them right here."
He handed over a green file he was holding. We stopped walking and I took it from him. I glanced through the content in the file. There were a handful of complaints in it and I was relieved they weren't many.
"Okay, I will check into these complaints later and give some feedback on how we can solve the problems."
"Okay, Miss Hanson." he replied. I turned to leave but he reminded me of something. "Miss Hanson, you also asked for the report concerning the sales of LemonFizz©."
I collected another file from him. "Thanks. I almost forgot about it. I'll go through them and forward them to my father."
"Okay Mrs. Hanson."
I continued my walk to my office whiles Phillips went the other way. Got a few greetings from my secretary and some other workers before entering my office. When I sat down, I let out a huge breath out. I started rubbing my head and prayed today would be a good day.
It wasn't up to two minutes when I entered my office and then, I received a phone call. And I could have sworn that I wouldn't have guessed who would have called me at that moment.
"Good morning, dad."
After a week, he now wants to talk ? I knew something was up cause I'm not sure this man would be calling to soothe or pamper me. So I wondered why he had called.
"I don't want to beat around the bush, my dear," he said. "Come to my office right now."
He hanged up and I was just stiff, holding the phone and wondering if I really heard what I heard. My dad just laid it out like that. No pleasantries, no chatty conversation, just a monotonous request in 5 seconds.
It seemed my dad was still upset with me. He had always been close to me over the years and we had a good relationship. Well, until this business takeover saga. He has now become a mildl hostile old man to me. I can't wait for this whole drama to subside and die down. It's getting out of hand.
I took my handbag and left my office. I called my driver and minutes later, he arrived at the brewery. I got in and he drove me to the textile company. I walked to my dad's office when I alighted and knocked on his door when I got there.
"Come in," I heard.
I opened the door and walked right in. I saw my dad writing something down on a sheet of paper and there was a tall broad shouldered man standing next to him. Wearing a black tuxedo, just like my dad's bodyguards. But I haven't met this guy before, so I was lost.
My dad stopped writing and raised his head up at me seconds after I walked in. "Sonya, take a seat." he pointed at the chairs opposite him. I sat down slowly, still confused as to why I was called.
"I'm sorry for sounding informal today," he begun. "How have you been doing these past days ?"
"Fine, I guess." I answered slowly. Still waiting for an explanation on why I was called.
"Good to hear that," he replied. "I've been thinking about what we discussed some time ago and I have thought about the case very well..."
My face lit up. My dad had considered my decision and I felt he was about to make a compromise. Well, I rushed into conclusions too soon.
"And I have realized that it's possible you might run away the day I would handover the businesses....so you see our friend here," he pointed to the guy beside him. "He's going to be your bodyguard."
"What ?!" I exclaimed.
"You heard me right, young woman." my dad clarified. "He's going to be escorting you publicly and just in case you want to run away, he will be there."
"Dad, you can't be serious."
"Oh yes I am." he affirmed. "He will begin work tomorrow, so get ready. And don't worry, it's just for three weeks."
That's it. This just goes to prove that my dad is dead serious about me getting his businesses. And I'm not ready for the load of responsibility. I can barely handle my three jobs.
And also the business I wanted to start, how is that going to work effectively if there's a bodyguard following me everywhere I go ? Olivia needs to hear of this cause I'm at my wit's end.
