Chapter 4 - New visitors

Honestly, out of all the things in the world! Being blamed for stealing over a billion yen?! Guess I can go ahead and check that one off the bucket list! This is why I don't go outside! My life is over! This is definitely going on my record! My college is gonna throw me to the dogs!

I'll admit I did feel a bump in my pockets back then but I assumed it was my phone and waller but NOPE! It's a freaking mini console that costs more than my tuition!

I was stuck in the same room, one of the police officers departing to get some other suspect. I feel bad for them, even though I'm suffering the same fate, I get how frustrated they must feel…

"Hi, I'm Jerry, what's your name?" The police officer started with a smile, his hands on the desk as he waited for my response. I look up at him hesitantly before speaking.

"Taida-" I responded, a bit hesitant in my words

"Lastname?" He asked

"Haru-" I corrected,

"Ok, Mr.Haru, why don't you go ahead and tell me what happened?" Jerry, looking at him more I realized he was really young, probably turned into an officer recently. He had weirdly colored hair, a pastel pink that peaked through his cap, and marine blue eyes.

"Well- um…" I murmured, trying to come up with something that didn't involve me talking about "her" situation-

"No need to be nervous, we're just here to help," The officer reassured, taking off his hat and badge, and fitting them on the seat next to him.

"Here, talk to me as you would a nosy stranger, okay?" he smiled. Though I'd probably shut the door in front of a nosy neighbor, or my neighbors in general, I appreciate the sentiment-

"I was just talking to one of the streamers before they went withthe others after the lights turned on, I really didn't do much after that and the live event-" I muttered, looking up to him in hopes he saw that I was telling the truth, but he just sighed and rested his face on his hands.

"And who is this streamer exactly?" He pondered, seemingly done with this conversation already.

"UntitledGhost, sir, she's an underground streamer though, not many know of her–" by not many meaning only me-

"I see," Jerry leaned back in his chair, his eyes closed as if he was thinking about something, "UntitledGhost, you say…"

"Coming in," The voice of the other officer was heard on the other side, causing me to look up, my eyes widened when I saw…

"Wait- you're the other person they were on about?" I asked, staring at UntitledGhost who just came in with a defeated look to her. Her face turned beet red when she realized it was me.

"Why'd it have to be you of all people!?" She practically squealed from embarrassment, I could hardly contain my laughter, having to turn away in my chair! This was hilarious! Ha, serves you right!

….

..

If she's here, and she was in my alibi, doesn't that mean she was caught carrying something too?! Which makes me even more guilty!! Things suddenly don't seem as funny anymore–

"Wait, what are you doing here?!" I snapped the minute I realized, startling her at my sudden shift in volume.

"Why are you shouting at mee?!" She practically sobbed her voice shaky from the sudden pressure. The two officers looked at each other with exasperated glances before turning to me.

"Okay you two, settle down," the older officer spoke up, his dark green eyes staring at us intently before he finally spoke up.

"Tell us exactly what happened–"

The two of us stopped our bickering giving him a soft nod before we pleaded our cases, our story more or less the same cause why wouldn't it be? Both of the officers look rather puzzled, Jerry turning to the other before whispering in his ear. "Tom what do we do now-?"

Tom groaned softly, "Look it's been a long day, and I want to go home, so–"

"Yeah, but we can't just let them go-" Jerry argued, seeing Tom scratch his head in frustration.

"I'll pull some strings to get them house arrested or something," He muttered back before turning to us with a stern look on his face.

"Ok, you two will be put on house arrest until further notice! Failure to comply will result in you eating nothing but rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Do I make myself clear?"

We both nodded attentively, the officer soon turning to Jerry, "I'll leave the paperwork to you…"

"What?! Again?!" Jerry tried to argue but his words fell on deaf ears as the door was shut behind him. He groaned in frustration. "This is the fifth time this month–"

"Ok… I'll need to get a view things from you, firstly ill need to know the address you'll be staying at," He informed waiting for an answer.

"Well- I'm from out of town so I can't go anywhere…" UntitledGhost murmured, looking down at her hands as she twiddled her thumbs.

"Well, that means you need to live with Mr. Haru for the time being" Jerry noted, looking towards me as he waited for my response, "If there's nowhere you can stay that means you have to go to jail, there's no avoiding it."

I bit my nail from nervousness, though I didn't want to go there it might be my only option, I looked up at Jerry hesitance laced within my voice.

"Well, there is one place"

A woman in her 40s was cooking dinner, letting out a soft hum to herself as she worked, though her momentum was soon ruined by a knock on the door.

"Coming coming," She said as she got out of the kitchen, opening the door to see me, UntitledGhost, and Jerry standing there. She looked confused, which is entirely fair, her son did visit after years of not talking at the hands of the police after all-

"Heey Mom," I smiled, giving her an awkward wave.

"Missed me?"
