Chapter 34 - Not Meant To See Another Day

Sifeng slowly rise to his feet in a staggering manner with his left palm by the side of his tummy, the beasts are inching closer to him as he gets up, they have circled him in a way that he'll have no choice but to fight his way out of their middle.

Standing firmly on his two feet, he moves his head around, looking at the fourteen bears as they slowly move closer to him, there's still a significance amount of distance between them, and none of them is charging forward to attack him yet. Sifeng didn't know why they slowly move closer instead of lunging at him once, maybe it's because they have seen how easily one of them was beheaded, so they're being careful.

But to what he had learned, beast are not meant to maintain any sort of intelligence, they're known for their ferocious nature and killing intent, so he wonder why the beast are acting like this, but really, he don't need to think much because just at that moment, he heard the rustling of leaves and branches of trees snapping, what followed is a heavy footstep, heavy enough to send cracks through the ground.

'Is that their boss?'

If he's right and it's truly their boss, then he knew he'll be doomed, if it's like the RPG games he used to play in his world, then the boss would be a rank or two above its minions.

'Damn, I'm stupid.'

Knowing he needed to act fast before the boss get here, he charge towards the bear in front of him with his sword drew, the other beasts follow him from behind and both sides, ready to crush him in the middle.

He quickly closed the distance between him and the beast in front of him, but before he could even deliver an attack, the beast's large fist was already descending upon him, ready to smash him into a bloody pulp.

Sifeng quickly dived to the side, completely avoiding the beast's large fist which had created a small earth crack on the floor, before he could get back on his feet, two more bears were already upon him. One of them had its large feet coming down on him while the other was preparing to throw a fist to his head.

For some reason, he didn't panic, all his senses were active, sharper and clearer than before. The large feet and the punch were coming at him at the same time, moving his sword above his head in a swinging motion, black blood splattered across his face as the beast's leg was sliced off, then he quickly roll to the side, avoiding the second bear's fist.

Again, a small crack could be seen on the ground where the beast's fist landed.

Sifeng wondered how he was able to cut off their body with such ease, the beast held so much power that a punch from one of them had broken his rib, and he is sure that he would be done for if one of them manage to hit him on the head. So seeing his sword going through their body like he's cutting a butter, doesn't make any sense at all, but he doesn't have time to think about it and don't need to think about it, because the odd is on his side, as long as he's able to avoid their attack and manage to deliver an attack of his own, he would be fine.

Quickly getting on his feet, he look at the beasts, the two that attack him are the closest to him, although, one of them had its leg cut off, it was already crawling towards him and the second one is also moving forward. The others at the back are also marching forward.

He was not surrounded anymore, he could now see all the beasts in front of him and doesn't need to worry about one of them attacking him from the side or from the back, all of them were now in front of him. But the problem is that, his back is against the forest, he had his back facing the forest where the heavy footstep is coming from, getting louder and closer by the seconds, he needs to change his angle of attack.

'This is problem, I just hope I finish up these ones before the boss arrive.'

He knew very well that he can't handle the boss, even if a strike from his sword will deal a great damage, he doubt that he'll be able to land an attack on it, he also couldn't rely on his wild elemental energy attack, he might be nearing death's door before the damn thing will be triggered, he would also be in a weak state after using it and he's not planning to loose his guard in this damn jungle.

But he already had a plan, a plan that might cost his life, he just need to deal with a few of these stalkers before putting his plan into motion, he don't need to kill them all.

Readying his sword, he charge towards the two nearest beasts, one of them is still on its chest slowly crawling towards him, so he don't really need to worry too much about it, but the second one...

Sifeng couldn't believe it as the bastard run on all fours, moving faster like a wolf, then leap towards him with its paw stretched outward like a claw, Sifeng had no time to move away or dive down as the beast was too fast for him, so he did the only thing he thought is right.

Standing in one place, he points the tip of his sword towards the beast's chest, knowing the beast won't also be able to avoid it.

The sword pierce its skin easily and appear on the side with no resistance, black blood sipping out from the space the sword had created on its body. The beast is dead, but that doesn't stop it from moving forward as it's still midair when its life was taken, and before Sifeng could even retrieve his sword, the body of the dead beast landed on his body, pinning him in place.

Feeling the weight of the dead beast on him, he lost the ability to breath for several minutes, this is not the first time he's feeling the weight of these bears but this one seemed to be more heavier than when he was used as a bed in the cave.

It feels like two of these bears are on him now. Knowing that he had no time to think about it, more than a dozen of these beasts are already coming at him, and there's also the boss somewhere in the forest behind him. He quickly released his grip on the hilt of his sword, then using all the strengths he could feel in his arms, he shifts the weight of the beast away from his body, then he quickly pull his sword out of its body and rise to his feet, by the time he got up, the remaining beast were already behind and several fists were coming at him from behind.

He turn around in one swift motion with his sword moving in an arc motion, knowing that he won't be able to avoid the fist, he swings his sword as fast as he could, while making a 360 turn. The sword chopped two heads off and by the time the second head fell off, more than two bone crushing fists hits him straight in the chest, sending him into the forest where the sound of heavy footsteps was coming from.

'Arghh, Now I know I wasn't meant to see another day, damn it.'

Landing in the middle of the forest, a few meters away from where he had been hit, he saw the owner of the approaching heavy footsteps as he was sent right in front of it, not just that, but there are about twenty more bears behind the boss.

'Damn.'
