His uncle and aunt entered the room chatting with each other.
Then they noticed Haruto they looked a bit surprised but greeted him friendly afterwards.
„Seems like we're not the first today.", Hina said laughing.
„That's right.", Daikaku agreed, „Normally we can proudly claim the first place in arriving early."
For a moment Haruto was unsure what to do since this situation hadn't happend before, then he said: „I'm sorry for interrupting your time for two. Should I come to eat breakfast later from tomorrow onwards?"
The two adults looked at each other and bursted into even louder laughing.
„You don't need to.", Daikaku said.
Haruto let out a sigh of relief.
He didn't know how it had come to this situation since in all of his previous lifes his uncle and aunt had always overslept on the last day of the holidays, which was today.
The both also sat down and two maids delivered theier breakfast.
It was the same as Harutos just that they had coffe instead of green tea as drinks.
Also Daikaku got the daily newspaper and started reading it rigthaway again.
Hina focused on the food and so Haruto had time to think.
For some reason since the first day things had started to change even if it there only slight changes.
Of course he knew that depending on his actions there always were slight changes during all of his lifes but they had never started so early.
Still sunken deep inside his thoughts he didn't notice Yoko and Taro until they sat down next to him.
Only then they gave him a sleepy „Good morning" did he notice and greeted them back.
Considering it was only half past eight on a Sunday wich was also the last day of the holidays they were up early.
Hina cleared her throat and said: „Since you're all here now, there are a few things we need to talk about. First of all: Tomorrow school starts again and you three will all attend together. Yoko and Taro you already know the school and your class, but Haruto is new. We asked the academy that he would be allowed to be in your class, so please help him. Your uniforms were cleaned by Maya, so you should put them there you can easily find them. I know that you two are already used to this so don't give me that look. Oh right, Maya is our head maid. I will introduce you to her later, Haruto. Besides that, you will need to go shopping with me either tomorrow or the day after to get the school supplies you still need. You will receive a list of things tomorrow. As for the things you need to bring tomorrow, they only consist of a collegeblock and a pencil case with the normal things. You all have your schoolbags?"
All three nodded.
„Alright, that should it be so far. Haruto, come to the living room in 40 minutes to try on your school uniform. If it doesn't fit Maya can change it."
With those words she focused on her food again and the twins, whose tablets had also been brought in started eating as well.
…
40 minutes later Haruto stood in the living room.
Hina and the head maid Maya, a woman in her early sixties with friendly brown eyes, white hair, that was tied in a knot, and a kind smile, were standing in front of him and eyeing him concentrated.
Haruto had put on his new school uniform.
It consisted of gentian blue trousers, a jacket in the same color, a white shirt with short sleeves and a striped necktie in sky blue and white.
Currently the students didn't wear theier jackets, since it was still the last days of summer and way to hot for that.
Only later on would they change into the jacket and a long sleeved shirt.
After a while the two woman had decided that only the trousers needed to be shortened by a tad and after staking out the part with needles, Maya took the uniform to sew it.
Only then did they let Haruto go who went back to his room.
At first he tried to read a bit, but he couldn't focus on the book.
It wasn't because he was nervous.
He had already gone through that first day at the Kaminori academy countless times so he was used to it.
What made him uncomfortable was the questions he knew would be asked.
It had always been like this.
On his first day his new classmates always tried to find out why he only transferred now and didn't start attending the academy with the beginning of the year.
Of course in a way theier curiosity was justified but it still was uncomfortable for him.
If I just say that it was because of family reasons, will they leave me alone? ,he wonderd.
He let out a sigh.
Haruto knew that it was useless to worry about it and that he should just let it happen.
Get over with the day and that's it.
There were other things to worry about.
During the uniform fitting, Hina had told him, that if he wasn't able to keep up with school he should ask his cousins.
But he knew that he wouldn't have any problems.
He had lived through years of the school and after his second life he was already able to perfectly keep up with school even if he started late.
Since some lifes ago he also was always ahead of the class.
Earning the position of top student had been hard at first, with him spending all of his time studying but by now it was enough to read through the materials once to completely remember them.
In a way, it was unfair towards the other students who only had this one life but Haruto had always worked hard to learn all the knowledge and he still planned to keep working hard.
On another note, he would need to decide which club he wanted to join.
He had been through most clubs already and he was thinking which to enter this time.
I could join the library club again or the swimming club. The calligraphy club is also quiet interesting. Which should I chosen?, he asked himself.
With another sigh he looked outside the window there a wall of water still poured down mercilessly.
Haruto stood up and took his schoolbag, wich he had put besides the knee high table that stood on the wall beneath the window.
His schoolbag was a typical, black one without any decorations.
Then looked through it.
He put his collegeblock as well as his pencilcase, filled with a few colorful pencils, a ruler, a rubber, a pencil, a fountain pen, a sharper and geometry triangle, inside it.
Afterwards he took out his book again and kept reading.
He had just finished his book then someone knocked at his door.
After Haruto said that the person could come in, the door opend and Maya stepped into the room.
She was carrying his uniform wich she had already fixed.
He thanked her and hung the uniform on his closet.
Then he turned around again, he saw that Maya still hadn't left the room and was looking t him with sad and caring eyes.
„Is there a problem?", Haruto asked.
Maya shook her head and went towards the door, but befor she left she stopped again.
„If there is anything worrying you, you can talk to me.", she said.
He flinched, but quickly controlled himself again.
Maya had always had a sharp intuintion and during one life he had tell her everything.
Instead of laughing at him or thinking that he was crazy she had believed him and tried to help him.
But that hadn't ended well for either of them and Haruto didn't want her to suffer because of him.
So he just shook his head and forced a small smile on his lips.
„I'm alright.", he said.
The head maid looked at him and then sighed.
„Alright.", she answerd, „ But if you ever need anyone to talk with, I'm always there for you. And don't try to lie to me. I have raised three children and have worked as a nanny for two more. I'm pretty confident in my ability to read peopel."
Then she turned around and left the room, closing the door behind her with a clack.
Haruto was left in the room filled with complete silence.
For the first time after many regression he felt foreign in the guest room wich he had gotten so used to.
The silence felt oppressive and heavy, making it hard to breath.
Haruto couldn't stand it.
Ignoring the heavy rain he teard the window open, listening to the murmur of the rain and the splashing of the waves, breathing in the fresh air.
It took him ten full minutes to calm down.
By then, he had been completely soaked.
Water ran down his face and he couldn't say for sure that it was only from the rain.
Moreover a puddle had formed around him again.
After a look at the mess he had created because of the water he went to the bathroom.
First he washed and dried his face, when he took a towel and for the second time again he dried the area in his room around the window.
Then he had finished this task, he sat down tired, feeling as if it had been at least five hours since breakfast.
In reality it were only two, how a look at the small clock standing on his table showed him.
Completely drained of energy he leaned his head backwards against the wall, closing his eyes.
Now matter in which life, the first few days were always the most exhausting ones.
If only I could die right now without regressing again, he thought.
But at the same time he knew that he wouldn't do that even if he had the opportunity to.
He lived, and no matter how hard his lifes and the many regressions were, he would continue living.
He had a dream he wanted to fulfill and that was the reason he had always been giving his all studying.
Something that had earned him the title of model student, even befor he came to the island.
Half an hour later he sat up again.
Haruto hadn't noticed that he had been sitting there for so long.
After stretching out his arms, he stood up and went towards the closet again.
But not to look for clothes but instead to search for a book.
He still had a few others, but in the end he chosen the book ,Summer in the Temple Alley' from Sachiko Kashiwaba.
The book was still completely new, his mother had gifted it to him right before she brought him to his uncle, but during his other lifes Haruto had already read it.
Still he liked the story and soon after he was completely immersed in the words.
…
He only snapped out of it then someone knocked against the door of his room.
Just like befor he let the person inside.
It was Maya again.
„It's already lunchtime and since you didn't come down, I thought I would fetch you.", she said with a kind smile.
Haruto nodded and thanked her befor he followed her to the dining room.
This time he was the last to arrive and he apologized for being late.
His aunt and uncle just gave it a nod and his cousins completely ignored it, so he sat down as well.
The lunch passed by without much happening.
The maids served each of them a bowl with rice, one with soba, a plate with thinly cut fried beef, a bowl with raw Nagaimo and a bowl with pickled Daikon.
Just like the breakfast it tasted really good and Haruto thougth that he should send the cook working for his uncle his thanks.
He knew him from his previous lifes so he had an idea for a good thank-you-gift, wich he thougth that he should prepare for him.
After the meal he went back to his room once more since going outside wasn't an actual option.
The rain had no intention of stopping today so they all spendend theier day inside.
Haruto just decided to keep reading inside his room.
Only a while later did he take a break from reading to look outside the window again.
He already knew how the next day would go but he still went over his plan again.
After arriving at the school he needed to go to the director first.
The director would then send the teacher of the class he would be entering to fetch him.
Haruto would then go with the teacher and be introduced to his new class.
Afterwards was just a normal first day after the holidays.
Later he would go home with his cousins.
That was it.
He focused on his book again and without Haruto noticing the day rushed past him, like the rain falling down outside, until he was lying in his futon, looking at the ceiling and soon after falling asleep.
Still he didn't forget to turn on his alarm clock for the next day.
