The rest of the schoolweek passed by quietly and quickly.
The long schooldays filled theier week and afterwards they still needed to do theier homework.
One day after the other passed by.
And finally, it was Saturday.
Haruto woke up early.
Not even his alarm clock had rung yet.
He looked outside the window, there the sky was just changing its color from dark blue and black to lilac, pink and orange and light-blue.
He couldn't see the sun since his room was on the west side of the building.
He stood up, opend his window and watched the colorchange happening.
Only then it was over, did he take a simple t-shirt and trousers out of his closet.
Then he went to the bathroom and washed up.
Afterwards, following his routine he went to the dining room.
The usual maid, her name was Hanako, brought him his breakfast.
Today, it was a western-styled one again with bread rolls, Marmelade, egg, ham and cheese.
The twins came soon after.
Hina and Daikaku wanted to sleep in today, so the children had breakfast among themselves.
„We will meet up in twenty minutes at the inner courtyard.", Taro said, then the three left the dining room to go get theier backpacks.
Haruto and Yoko nodded.
Haruto went upstairs and entered his room.
There, he took out his backpack and packed it anew.
After putting the book ,The village of eight graves' from Seishi Yokomizo inside, he closed it and went downstairs.
Maya had put three bento-boxes on the table, next to three bottles of water.
Then Haruto entered, she gave him one of each and he put them inside his backpack as well.
After that he went outside.
Kazuya was standing next to the bicycles of the three kids.
Then Haruto arrieved he showed him Taros old bicycle.
It wasn't really old.
He had been gifted it last Christmas, but since he didn't like the color his parents had gifted him a new one to his thirteen birthday.
The bicycle was black, with one blue stripe at the side.
The tires were think and suitable for all terrain, making them perfect for driving on the island.
Haruto thanked Kazuya, who had inflated the ripes of the bicycle.
Then he waited for his cousins.
They arrieved only five minutes later.
Maya and Kazuya wished the three of them a nice day on behalf of Hina and Daikaku and the kids drove outside.
They followed the main road leading through the village till they reached the village plaza.
It was a huge plaza around wich a few shops and the city hall stood.
The shops were a small cafe with some chairs and tables standing infront of it, the drugstore of the village, a clothing store and a konibini.
From the plaza, four roads leaded into different directions.
One towards the beach, which was the one they had followed on theier first day, one towards the hospital, which was on the border of the village, one towards the academy and one towards the neighboring village.
Today, the three of them were the first to arrive, soon after Minato and Kanae came.
Then Naomi arrived and as the last one Yoshi stopped his bike next to them.
„Now that all of us are here, we should get going.", Kanae said.
The others nodded and they got on theier bikes.
Together they drove along the main road leading towards the neighboring village Oyama until they reached the edge of their own village.
That's there the railroad station was located.
The railroad went across the east half of the island, wich made it possible to reach everythere even without a car.
The moment the train stopped, they entered it.
They put theier bicycles on the spare space between the seats and sat down.
The train was almost completely empty.
In the whole train carriage, wich the friends had boarded, they were the only ones.
It wasn't that strange, considering it was a Saturday morning.
After a thirty minute ride on the train, they reached the station named Gomami bridge, which was the bridge the furthest east, going over the San river, one of the main rivers on the island.
There, they exited the train and got on theier bicycles again.
Then, they followed the small road existing parallel to the sea.
While they drove forward, the others showed Haruto the plains around them.
It was mostly the same view everythere.
On the right side, a bit of grassland, the beach and the sea.
On the left side plains with grass, and the outermost part of the forest in the distance.
Only once could they see Mt. Yashou, with it snow-capped peak.
„It's the highest mountain on the island. Moreover, it's exactly in the middle of it. Around it are the Sengo mountains. Till now, no one has ever climbed it's peak. There are many legends around it.", Kanae explained.
„Yeah, the most famous one says that whoever tries to climb it will die. I think that's bullshit. Let me try it and I will show you that I won't die.", Yoshi supplemented grinning.
Yoko gave him an angry look and said: „ You know that it's dangerous to climb mountains, especially such high ones."
„It's true that it's a bit higher. But there are many mountains much higher, not only in Japan but everywhere in the world. Why would anyone die climbing up that mountain.", Yoshi answered.
He pronounced ,that' so, that everyone could know, that he didn't have a high opinion of the incredible mountain in the middle of the island.
The others kept bickering, but Haruto stopped listening to it.
Still, his eyes wandered to the mountain as they passed by it.
It really looked magnificent.
But soon, other thoughts distracted him.
They could already see the Fishermen's Death in the distance.
It was a cliff at the southeast of the island.
The steep walls fell down deep into the sea.
As they came closer, Haruto got more and more nervous.
Of course, he didn't let it show on his face or in his gesture.
For the others he seemed completely calm.
But inside thousands of thoughts hushed through his head.
Memory's from his past life flashed over his eyes, mixed with the view he saw right now.
As the got closer it seemed to get harder and harder for him to breath.
Unnoticed by the others he shook his head to make the useless memories and the upcoming fear go away.
Because that was what he was feeling.
Fear.
He hadn't been scared of the sea, even thought he drowned, but he was scared of the cliff infront of him, from there he had fallen down.
No! I'm alive and well! Everything is alright! Nothing will happen today!, he tried to calm himself down.
Still, his bad feeling didn't disappear.
He took a deep breath and looked around, just to be completely sure that no strange person was around.
The clear sky had a bright blue color and the sun shone warm from it.
The birds sang, some butterflies flew around the wildflowers, growing in the grass of the plains around him.
Besides him, Taro, Yoko, Kanae, Yoshi, Minato and Naomi rode theier bicycles, following the path towards the fishermen's death.
Without any accident they arrived at the cliff.
There, they stopped and sat down, all hungry from the tour.
It had taken them an hour and a half to reach the cliffs from the bridge.
Perhaps that's the reason I was asked to come here in my past life. Theier so far away that it would take a while for anyone to come even if they noticed me disappearing., Haruto thought to himself.
A thought, that only made him feel uncomfortable again.
Still, he sat down next to the others and took out his lunch together with them.
All of them had bentos with them containing delicious food.
At one point while eating they started exchanging theier food.
Haruto had just picked up a sausage in form of an octopus, then Naomi leaned over to him.
„Can I have that one?", she asked.
Haruto was puzzled, then he nodded.
Naomi smiled and befor he could put it into her bentobox she grabbed it with her mouth from his chopsticks.
„It's delicious!", she said happily.
Haruto nodded again and answerd: „Uncle Daikakus cook cooks truly delicious things."
Naomi laughed and said: „Taro said the same befor."
„Really? Then it must really be true.", Haruto replied.
Naomi bursted into laughter and he also needed to smile.
„What are you two talking about, that it makes Naomi laugh so hard?", Yoko asked.
„Nothing!", Naomi answerd and waved it off.
The others changed asking and wondering gazes but didn't ask out loud anymore.
They started talking about other topics right away again.
For a while, Haruto just watched quietly while eating his food.
The others seemed to have a lot of fun talking, laughing and bickering.
Did they always have this much fun then they there together?, he wondered.
Suddenly, Taro jumped up.
„Now, it's time for our test of courage.", he said.
Minato had also stood up and pulled Yoshi up.
The girls also rose and stood there.
Taro came over to Haruto and pulled him up as well.
„It's nothing scary.", he told his cousin, „We will just go to the edge of the cliff and look down. You don't need to worry."
Standing at the edge and looking down?
From the place he had fallen from in his past life looking down on the part of the sea he had drowned in during his last death?
He wasn't sure how to feel about that.
Taro had already turned around and went to the edge together with the others.
Haruto was pulled along, but a meter away from the edge he stopped.
„I'm sorry.", he said, while shaking his head,„I don't think I can stand at the edge."
He felt as if he could hardly breath.
Normally the memories of his deaths hadn't that much of an impact on him but his last death wasn't far away yet, the memories still to fresh.
The others turned around and faced him.
Haruto stood there, the memories of the past flushing through his mind, looking at the edge of the cliff.
„That's understandable. Don't worry, I also was to scared to do it the first time.", Naomi said to cheer him up.
He nodded and gave her a thankful look, knowing fully well that her reason to be scared of the cliff was a different one then his.
That moment, Taro came to him.
Suddenly he pushed him so that Haruto fell backwards and landed in the grass.
His cousin looked down on him angrily.
„You just want to get a special favor. You just want attention, don't you? You attentionseeker! ", he said, with his voice getting louder with each word until he screamed.
Haruto was puzzled.
What had he done to make his cousin angry now again?
He didn't know.
Had he insulted him?
Why did his cousin think that he was an attentionseeker?
Once again thousands questions rushed through his mind, turning into a storm.
But suddenly it was quiet in his mind.
Only one thought remained: Ah, so now it's happening again.
The same thing that had always occurred in his past lifes.
His cousin disliking him and getting angry at him without Haruto knowing the reason.
Why?Why?Why?, pounded in his head.
But he forcefully stopped his thoughts together with the feelings rising inside him like a wave.
It's alright. I'm already used to it., he thougth, forcing himself to calm down.
Taro was still screaming at him but he couldn't understand a word.
He noticed that Naomi started crying and Kanae hugging her, while telling Taro to calm down.
Yoko, who put her hand on her twin brothers arm and started speaking to him to calm him down.
Minato and Yoshi supporting Yoko with theier words and so on.
After a while, they all had calmed down again.
But the mood was ruined now.
They quickly packed theier things and started getting ready to drive back.
On the whole way home, they remained completely silent.
In the train, Naomi fell asleep on Kanaes shoulder.
Yoko also kept dozing of, but Taro woke her up again.
Then they finally arrieved at the village station they exited the train and pushed theier bicycles outside the train station.
Afterwards they all hopped on their bikes and started driving home.
Kanae, who had woken up Naomi, took one way together with her to drive home.
Minato and Yoshi also soon went theier separate ways.
Only the twins and Haruto needed to keep driving together until they reached the mansion.
There, they put theier bikes away and entered the building.
Then they passed by Maya and Kazuya in the entrance hall, they were greeted by them but Taro and Yoko hurried back to theier rooms after giving them a slight nod.
Haruto greeted them with a short „Hello." befor he went towards his room.
After having arrieved there, he entered, closed the door behind him and sank down on the wall.
Today much had happend and he felt incredibly tired again.
In the end my bad feeling was right, was his last thought befor he fell asleep, leaned against the wall.
