Chapter 6 - 4-Auction Day

Sebastian's Perspective

After escorting Petal home, I drove to my penthouse, freshened up, and decided to sleep. As I drifted off, I couldn't help but think about the events unfolding in both of our lives. The next day, I woke up and went about my morning routine before getting ready and having breakfast. I then headed to the office where I was working. While I was there, Max called me and I answered the call.

"Boss, I have purchased the land and sent the landowner abroad. I have also hired actors to portray businessmen and asked Alex to send the advertisement of this auction to our rival company, including the names of these fake businessmen and our company," Max informed me.

"Very well. Remember, we need to hold this fake auction in the first week of next month, and it's already the last week of this month. I hope everything will be prepared by next Monday," I instructed him.

"I understand, boss. I will book an auction hall and ensure everything is ready," he replied.

"Alright, just remember that we will recover the money we spent on this scheme, and the rest will go to charity. Is that clear?" I confirmed.

"Yes, boss. I understand," he said before I ended the call.

After speaking with Max, I resumed my work. However, I received another call, this time from Tom. I answered the call and said, "Yes, speak."

"Boss, Miss is at the shopping mall buying a lot of clothes and necessities. It seems suspicious," Tom informed me from the other end.

"Why is she buying clothes and other items? I have already bought her plenty before. It is indeed suspicious. However, remain calm. Follow her and let me know who she is meeting with and provide me with all the details," I instructed him before ending the call. I tried calling Petal several times, but she did not answer.

An hour later, Tom called me again. "Boss, Miss met her friend. Nothing suspicious. As for the clothes, she mentioned wanting to change her wardrobe collection, so that's why she bought them," he informed me.

"Very well. If that is the case, it's good for her. However, if there is anything else going on, both she and you will be in big trouble. Make sure to keep a close eye on her wherever she goes," I warned him.

He expressed, in a soft tone, "Yes, boss, I understand." It was evident to me that he was frightened, so I decided to end the call. The situation was perplexing me. Why was she suddenly purchasing all these items? What if she decided to leave me? Numerous questions were racing through my mind.

I left work early, returned to my penthouse, freshened up, and brewed a cup of coffee for myself. I couldn't stop thinking about Petal's peculiar behavior. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a call from Petal. "Hello, Sebastian," her sweet voice greeted me from the other end, melting my heart. All my anger and stress dissipated upon hearing her voice.

"Hmm, hello," I responded, concealing how much she tempted me. I continued to maintain my aloof demeanor. "Sebastian, how are you? I wanted to tell you something," she said. "I'm good, what is it?" I replied in my deep, intimidating voice. "Firstly, I'm sorry for not answering your calls. I went shopping today, and my phone was on silent, which is why I didn't respond. I bought a lot of clothes and necessities. I know you bought me a lot of clothes, but I wanted something different, so I went shopping. Please don't be angry with me," she explained, seemingly aware of my anger.

However, her explanation put me at ease. I sighed and reassured her, "I'm not angry with you, my flower. I was just worried that you didn't call me today or answer my calls. You can go shopping and use my money, but please let me know where you're going. I want you to be safe."

"Do you want me to be confined to my own house? Why do I have to inform you about everything? I can take care of myself. I don't want to be controlled by you. I have my own life," she retorted angrily. "You don't get to yell at me. I'm doing this for your own good. Behave and don't bring punishment upon yourself. I want you to stay at home for a few days. I hope that's clear," I asserted. She chuckled from the other side and exclaimed, "You don't have any rights to control my life. Screw you, Sebastian. Goodbye." With that, she abruptly ended the call.

I was taken aback by her audacity. Let's take some time apart, I thought to myself. I'm currently occupied with taking down that despicable person, so it's best for us to keep our distance for now. My inner voice echoed the same sentiment, and I made the decision not to reach out to her again. Besides, we're getting married in a month, so it's important to give her some space.

Days went by without any contact between us. We didn't reach out to each other, nor did we meet. The day before the auction, Max informed me that everything was perfectly prepared and we could execute our plan the following day. A smirk formed on my lips as I realized that after just one more day, we wouldn't have to stay apart anymore.

Today is the day of the auction, but I won't be attending. Max will go in my place, wearing a hidden camera so that I can watch the live auction from my office. We've made all the necessary preparations, so security shouldn't be an issue. They won't suspect our men, but they'll thoroughly check anyone from the rival company. I heard that his assistant will be attending on his behalf, but that doesn't concern me.

Anker introduced himself and explained the purpose of the auction, even though everything was fabricated by us. The auction began, with fake companies placing bids. Our company started with a bid of 50 million, and then our rival company countered with 51 million. The bidding continued to escalate, heating up the atmosphere between my company and our rivals.

Little did he know that he was digging his own grave…
