Author's POV
The auction progressed with bids rising from everyone involved. The hired actors, playing the role of businessmen, stopped raising the bidding after reaching 80 million. The real competition began between Sebastian's company and his rival company. Sebastian knew that no matter what, they would compete with him and try to take the property away. Sebastian desired the same outcome.
After reaching the 100 million mark, the bidding continued to rise, eventually reaching 1 billion from Sebastian's company. The entire hall gasped at this amount, even though it was a fake auction. 1 billion is a significant sum for everyone involved. Sebastian is a billionaire, there is no doubt about that, but he wanted to make his rival lose all their funds. The rival company glared at Sebastian, which did not go unnoticed by both Max and Sebastian, who were watching the live auction.
The rival company then raised the bid to 1.1 billion. The auctioneer counted down, and the rival company won the auction. The fake anchor congratulated the XYZ company and announced that the land was now theirs. Everyone in the room applauded for them. Sebastian, who had been observing everything, was secretly pleased. However, he instructed Mark on the phone to pretend to be angry and furious about not acquiring the property. Sebastian did not want their rival to suspect anything just yet. Mark assured Sebastian that he understood and would act accordingly.
Following Sebastian's instructions, Mark stood up from his chair and slammed his palm on the table loudly, displaying his anger at not obtaining the land. As expected, the rival company's assistant approached Mark to further provoke his anger and make him jealous.
"Hello, nice to meet you, Mark," said the assistant. Mark played his part well and replied through gritted teeth, "Nice to meet you too." The assistant took Mark's response as genuine disappointment over losing the auction.
"I can see that you're feeling quite disappointed today, but unfortunately, the decision has already been made for our company to win this auction," he stated with a smirk on his face. Mark felt the urge to punch him right then and there, but he managed to control his anger by reminding himself that they were only laughing at their own loss. Without holding back, Mark responded, "Yes, I'm a little disappointed, but there's nothing we can do now. You guys have already won. By the way, 1.1 billion is no small amount. I wish you all the best, my friend." This caused the assistant from the rival company to laugh and say, "Indeed, it's a substantial amount. That's why your boss couldn't afford it like mine." Sebastian realized that he was intentionally provoking Mark to make him lose his patience and start a fight. "Listen, Mark, stay calm. He's doing this on purpose," Sebastian said through the earpiece. Mark heard every word. "Yes, I agree. Congratulations on winning the bid. I think it's time for us to leave," Mark said, to which the assistant replied, "Thank you. See you in the future." Mark signaled everyone to check their phones. He sent a message saying, "Don't leave all at once. Go one by one with a small time difference. And don't forget to wish our 'prey' ๐." Everyone nodded, and Mark left the scene. The fake actors and bidders began to leave, but not before wishing the real bidder. They had already been paid off. Mark smirked to himself as he headed back to the company. He parked his car and went straight to Sebastian's office. He knocked on the door and heard Sebastian say, "Come in." He entered the room. Sebastian was standing by the large glass window, overlooking the bustling city and its busy streets. When Mark walked in, Sebastian turned towards him and said, "Congratulations, sir. Mission accomplished." Mark replied, "Congratulations to you too, Mark. You worked hard. Don't worry, you'll get what you deserve." Mark then took a chance and asked, "What's next, sir?" He knew that Sebastian didn't like being questioned, but he decided to take the risk.
Sebastian responded, "Next, it will happen what must have happened a long time ago." Mark, confused, unknowingly blurted out something Sebastian did not want to hear. Sebastian snapped out of his trance and realized what he had said. "Nothing," he quickly replied. Changing the subject, Sebastian asked, "Has the money been transferred to the account?" Mark understood that Sebastian did not want to discuss it further. "Yes boss, the money has been transferred to our charity account," Mark confirmed. Sebastian instructed, "Transfer 15% to our company and 5% to your account." Mark was shocked to hear about the 5% for himself. "Yes, 5% for you. Remember, no more than that," Sebastian warned. Mark inquired about the remaining 80%. Sebastian explained, "It's for charity. We will donate it." Mark agreed, "Alright sir." Sebastian then asked for another favor from Mark. Mark, ready for the task, admired Sebastian's qualities and decided to follow his lead. Sebastian requested a list of organizations in need of financial assistance. Mark agreed to prepare the list and send it to Sebastian. Grateful for Mark's help, Sebastian emphasized the importance of keeping it confidential. Mark assured him, "Yes sir, rest assured." Sebastian suggested celebrating their success, to which Mark hesitantly asked, "Me, sir?"
Sebastian, a billionaire, invited me, a small worker in the company, to celebrate with him. "Is there anyone else here?" Sebastian asked with a smile. "No sir, I'm just a worker," I started to explain, but Sebastian raised his hand to stop me. "Whether big or small, rich or poor, hard work and proving oneself is what matters. You earned this on your own. I'm not doing you any favors. Come, have a drink with me. Or do you think I'm not good enough for you?" he questioned. "No sir, it's my honor. I'm sorry if I offended you," I replied nervously. Sebastian reassured me, "Relax, I was just joking. Come, take a seat." We both sat on the sofa, I poured drinks for us, we said "cheers," and enjoyed our drinks. Afterward, he bid farewell to Sebastian. He was pleased with himself for winning against that person, so he poured himself another drink. While having another drink, he received a call that angered him. He smashed the glass, his hand bleeding, but he didn't care. He grabbed his keys and left the company in a fit of anger.
