Chereads / Scars Of The Heart / Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

The morning rays of the sun shone brightly through the room as it illuminated the once-dark room.

He was looking for something that seemed to be lost.

" Oh ….., there it is ", Miguel's voice resounded as he spotted the suit he had been looking for. He took a glance around his empty room as he took a deep breath.

Miguel was about to open the door when it swung open and the figure stood right in front of him. It was no other person but Betty.

She stood at the door motionlessly as she stared at Miguel, who was about to make his way out.

He was wearing a white shirt and his tie was loose to the last pair of buttons.

"He is so hot, damn..." she soliloquized unconsciously.

"Pardon," Miguel's hard voice said as it jolted Betty back into reality. She raised her chin upward, looked into his gaze, and locked her eyes into his mesmerising gaze.

"Hii," Betty said as she stammered, trying her best to regain her composure.

"Hello," his cold voice responded as he walked outside the room while breathing briefly.

He had so much to do with his time than to keep a lady called his "betrothed" company. He packed his keys as he dashed out of the room, staring at nothing in particular. Today Miguel was wearing a dark blue jean and a jacket that was of the same colour. The sunshade he wore did not reveal his face, but his handsomeness couldn't be denied.

He was about to ignite the keys when he heard the voice, "Wait up!" He looked through the transparent windows as he spotted Betty coming closer.

"Holy fuck," he muttered under his breath as he watched the lady who was coming closer to him.

She was wearing a light sky blue short pleated skirt. It revealed the part of her thighs as the skirt was short. A white mini crop top followed in the background as she wore a Jennie jacket that exposed a large part of her stomach.

"Can I join you, please?" she said as she slowly removed the sunglasses she wore. She looked at him as she expected a reply, but she got none except Miguel's stern face.

"I'm going to work, not a picnic," he replied harshly as he drove out of the mansion, leaving poor Betty right there.

Disappointment flashed through her face as she just stared at the car, which had disappeared into the thin air.

"Bingo," she said as her disappointed face slowly turned into a grin.

She knew what to do.

*****************************

Miguel walked past the corridors of his office as his white sneakers made no sounds on the floor. He looked at Johnson, who immediately got his sign.

"The reports," he asked as he kept his gaze fixed on Johnson, who bowed his head without sparing him a glance.

"I want to look at your eyes, not your bald head." Miguel fired at Johnson as he immediately raised his head. The other staff were on the edge of bursting into laughter, but they dared not.

"It's not ready, sir.". Johnson finally croaked, as his voice was barely audible. He tried gathering his words together, and this time around with a little courage, he said, "It ain't ready yet, sir.". He said this as he looked at Miguel, who was already burning in rage.

"I give you 15 minutes; let the file get to my table," Miguel fired as his voice could be heard throughout the whole passage.

Johnson knew more than any other person what Miguel could do; he knew his capability, and that's why he was feared.

**********************

"Audrey!" a voice called out behind the doors.

Of course, she knew who it could be; it was none other than her friend Rosa.

Rosa stepped into the office as she wore a dark red gown. It was kind of short, but she looked really beautiful in it, as it brought out her alluring shape.

"Hello, buddy," Rosa called out as she announced her presence. Audrey plastered a wide smile as she looked at her friend, who was right in front of her.

"I think we should go home." There was a pause in the air as Rosa kept pacing around Audurey's large office.

"You should be kind of bored right here because I'm so bored and worked out. I need a break," Rosa said as she waited for Audrey to give her a response, which she didn't.

"Okay then, we will go home; just give me a minute," Audrey finally responded as she kept flipping through the pages of the designs. Her face was glued to nothing but the laptop.

"Audrey!!" Rosa yelled as she motioned to her to get up.

Audrey slowly sighed as she took a deep breath. She had a lot to do.

"Let's go," Rosa persisted as sweat cringed down her chin.

A fierce, sharp knock landed on the door as the two jumbled out of whatever they were doing.

"Who is it?" Audrey said in a whisper to Rosa, "I don't know." Rosa responded in another whisper.

As the two watched the door handle that was threatening to break, their gazes were fixed on nothing but the wall clock. It was midnight; who could it be?

"Who could it be?" Their hearts raced.

********

Miguel's eyes were fixed to his laptop as his anti-blue glasses were fixed to his eyes. He seemed to be deeply engrossed in what he was doing as he concentrated on nothing else.

A soft knock landed on the door, and for a while, silence filled the whole place.

"Yes," Miguel said as the figure walked in.

"Sir, I have prepared the report," Johnson said as he looked at his boss, who didn't spare him a glance.

"Drop it," Miguel's cold voice resounded as he kept staring at his laptop.

Johnson slowly dropped the files he had clutched in his hands while he made his way to the door.

Minutes had passed, and the only thing that could be heard in the room was the gentle sounds that Miguel's laptop had emanated.

A knock landed on the door once again.

"Yes, who is it?" Miguel's cold and patient voice was all that could be heard.

The figure walked in as Miguel

looked intently, "Oh, sh*t," he mumbled under his breath.

"what the heck?". Miguel said as he stared at the lady who was standing right in front with a smile glued to her face.
