"You look good. I think you're ready for Heathens Hollow," Frankie praised as he walked in on me working the bag.
I hadn't seen him since he was released from the hospital, and I had been dreading this conversation.
I drew a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "I don't want to let you guys down." I unwrapped my hands and turned to face him. "I owe you an apology."
He shook his head. "It was a fair fight. I lost."
I frowned, still feeling guilty for the part I played in his seizure. "I didn't know about your… health issues."
Frankie shrugged, his movements slow and measured. "Yeah, why do you think I have your ass fighting in Heathens Hollow and not me? It fucking kills me that I can't win this for Ari." Frankie looked away, his gaze fixed on something in the distance. "I'm going to ask you this one time, and you better fucking tell me the truth. Nero. Where do you stand with him?"
