Third Person's POV
"As of now, Mr. Senator, we have reached our goal of building one million homes for the poor in just two years. We have also found a way to provide free hospitals and cover all medical expenses for the elderly in remote provinces," said Senator Arcus's secretary happily. He listened while nodding, reflecting on all the hard work and effort his entire team had put in to prove to the nation that he was worthy of their trust.
"What about the donations?" he asked, adjusting his glasses.
"The donors are on their way, including the new CEO of E and U Law Firm," his secretary replied. Arcus nodded and called his mother.
His mother was kind; she was the one he turned to whenever there was a problem in the country or when he was exhausted from work. Unfortunately, she suffered from an illness with no cure, which made him cherish every moment he had with her.
"Mom, how are you?" he asked.
"I'm fine, son. How about you? Have you eaten? Don't overwork yourself; I'm not there to take care of you. I told you to find a girlfriend so I wouldn't worry," his mother said softly, her weakness evident. He could only laugh at her concern.
"Mommy, you know what my priority is right now. Besides, it's impossible to find someone with your character," he replied teasingly.
His secretary smiled knowingly as she observed her boss talking to his mother. It was amusing how, despite his typically serious demeanor, he would soften around her.
"Son, I've told you, it doesn't matter if she's not like me, as long as you love her and she loves you, that's what matters," she said. Arcus felt a pang of sadness, knowing what his mother was trying to convey.
She had been ill for a long time, but she continued to fight because she didn't want to leave without seeing her son with a family. She wanted to ensure that Arcus was okay before she leave and choose to be one of the God's angels .
"Mom, don't talk like that. Now I'm worried that you're saying goodbye again. I won't get married until you see your grandkids; you'll see them when I'm fifty," he reassured her.
He heard his mother's faint laughter on the other end.
"Sir, the visitors are here," said John, Arcus's secretary. Arcus nodded and adjusted his suit.
"Mom, I have to go. Please take your medicine and get some rest. I love you," he said before hearing her response and ending the call.
He exited first and walked down the long hallway out of the Senatorial Department, heading straight to the Visitors' Lounge where the guests were waiting for him.
Upon arriving at the lounge, he saw various people standing and waiting for him. He prepared his signature smile and greeted them one by one.
"Is everyone here? Then let's start the meeting," he announced.
"The new CEO of E and U Law Firm is still in the powder room," replied his secretary. He simply nodded and gestured for his guests to sit down again.
After a few minutes, a woman he recognized emerged. She walked towards them, radiating a beautiful smile.
"Everyone, this is Ms. Eunice Ava Welsh, the new CEO of E and U Law Firm—she is also our main donor for your next project," his secretary introduced.
The woman smiled at him, and he knew her well—very well.
"E-Eunice what?" he asked, confused.
"Eunice Ava Welsh. Senator Arcus," she replied.
