Chapter 136 - Bandits' Assault

The room turned deadly silent.

They immediately found someone who knew Atlas, yet her attitude was not so friendly.

"Madam... we are Atlas's friends..." Rose realized that the situation was going a bit astray and tried to explain, but suddenly, a loud sound of horns came from outside...

Prummm!!! Prummm!!!

"What's going on?"

The three women turned around instinctively, but Wyatt kept his gaze on the old woman.

"Some annoying fellows are looking for my nephew... just like you. Should I consider you all from the same side?"

Feeling the air changing, Wyatt steeled his heart and shook his head firmly: "We have nothing to do with that bunch of dogs!"

"Right?!... Well, how can I believe you? I met you a few moments ago for the first time. Maybe they sent you here as a vanguard..." Old River insisted with the same peculiar expression.

Noticing that the situation was still unfavorable, Wyatt decided: "Madam, let me take care of those people. This will show you our innocence."

He didn't wait for her response and instead gave his orders to the few guards outside. With his cultivation realm, he could see the enemy from here. They were just a bunch of bandits, nothing to worry about.

"Bring me the one with higher authority alive as for the others, show them no mercy... do it fast!"

The experts in the group knew what to do, so Wyatt looked back at the old woman, hoping for a good response.

Alas, she kept looking at him with that smile, putting him in an even more disheartening situation.

"Hehehe... good boy!"

Suddenly, Old River chuckled, reducing the tension considerably. Her expression turned even more friendly: "So... you should be Rose... and you two, Aurora and Elisabeth. You came just at the right time..."

Old River's words were simply too stunning and confused them even more than what had happened before.

They didn't know what was going on, but they were sure about one thing, that old woman knew them.

"Follow me... there is someone who wants to meet you."

Just as her voice ended, Old River was already standing in front of the door a few steps away.

"Don't worry, It's not too far..."

They followed her figure with their gaze, but none of them moved a single foot. Their minds were still trying to understand the situation when Wyatt's voice came: "I don't think she has any ill intentions. Furthermore, with her high cultivation realm, we would be dead for sure if we did something stupid. So, let's follow her and see what's going on..."

Those words shocked Rose greatly because she knew Wyatt's hidden power well.

Her curiosity for this small Village and Atlas grew even more, so Rose held Aurora's hand and dragged her behind the old woman.

After walking for a while, Rose couldn't hold herself back anymore and asked: "Madam... Is Atlas in the Village?"

"Mmm... little girl, you can call me Grandma River..." Old River answered with a gentle smile: "... and no, he already left."

"Oh... so he is already at the Divine Sect..." Rose lamented with a downcast expression.

"Mmm... You know a lot about him. That's quite interesting..." Old River remarked, looking at her from up and down.

"Well... my father advised him to go there. He even gave him a unique token to ease his trip there." Rose added, showing her goodwill toward Atlas.

"Oh... Then, I would like to thank you. The Minosir Cretion Divine Sect is a perfect place for him to grow stronger."

"Grandma River, I owe him too much. This was just a small gift from our family." Rose replied with great sincerity.

The group kept walking until they reached another shop. It was an artifact shop with a vast quantity of objects.

The quality of the treasure inside was marvelous, even for Wyatt, but strangely, the shop was empty.

"Grandma River... why is there no one here?" Rose asked curiously.

"Because we need privacy..."

An answer came, but it was from someone else in the room.

The group looked there and found three people walking out from the rear.

There was a dwarf and two humans.

"Old River... they came faster than you told us." one of them spoke annoyedly.

"Well... How could I know the precise time... idiot!" Old River shook her head, dismissing his futile comment, and then started to explain: "So... You can call the dwarf Old Mold and for these two... they are Atlas's grandparents, August and Marigold."

Rose and Aurora looked particularly interested in Atlas's grandparents and bowed gracefully, showing them profound respect.

"I'm Rose Harmon..."

"I'm Aurora Lunaris..."

"Such fine young ladies..." Marigold smiled gently at them and then looked at another person: "You should be Elisabeth. I heard you have taken care of my nephew when he was in need... Thank you!"

"Oh?! No problem at all..." Elisabeth answered calmly, feeling a bit freer than before.

"Well... let's sit for a moment. We have a lot to talk about..."

The tense atmosphere was gone entirely, and they could not let go of all the worries piling up in their hearts.

Wyatt was the one who indeed found salvation, finding out that there were no dangers around.

This simple trip to a small village had stressed him more than any other dangerous mission of the past.

"Well... since everything is fine, I will wait outside and handle the matter of the bandits..." Wyatt knew he could do nothing against them, even if he wanted to, so he left the shop and gave them some privacy.

"We are alone now... I would like to ask you something..."

Curiosity was burning ardently in everyone's heart in the room.

Indeed, even Marigold's group wanted to know what truly happened in the city of Inflamed Chalice since Atlas only told them lies about his experiences.

They didn't know why he hid the truth, and sure enough, now they wanted to discover everything.

"We know the story about the bandits... but we don't know why he went to Obscurium to save Rose... We discovered this absurd thing only recently because that stupid fellow hid everything from us."

Earing Marigold's words, Rose found Atlas's choice understandable. After all, Obscurium was such a dangerous place. Who would be willing to send someone there?

Even Rose found Atlas's decision to save her too absurd to be accurate.

"Grandma Marigold... I only know that he saved me from there. As for what happened there, I promised him to keep this a secret."

"We know you discovered something unique in Atlas thanks to a family heirloom, but we don't think you forced him to go there because you are not this kind of person..."

Rose's group was even more shocked now since Marigold blatantly told them they spied on them without anyone knowing.

Elisabeth had nothing to hide, so she spoke sincerely: "Indeed, we discovered Atlas's secret, but I can swear that we only recently discovered this fact. In fact, we met Atlas almost a year ago and helped each other all this time..."

"Well... we already know about this. Actually, this is the only reason you are still alive!"

Old Mold was the one who spoke this time, and his subtle warning had the expected result.
