Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

What?!" Logan blurted out.

"You have super hearing Logan," Hank reminded him. "I know you heard me the first time."

"My...my grandkids?! But...but that means I had a child!" Logan said, wide eyed and full of disbelief.

"I'm glad you're calm enough to remember how grandchildren work," Professor Xavier replied, the seriousness of the situation being the only thing that was stopping him from smiling in amusement at how the usually tough Wolverine now looked like he was going to have a heart attack. "but perhaps it would help everyone if you take a deep breath and allow yourself to become even more calm." He suggested. Logan glared at him but did as Professor Xavier suggested.

"Feeling better?" Hank asked after Logan had taken several deep breaths.

"A little bit," Logan nodded. "but...I just can't believe it, I have grandchildren." He breathed out with disbelief. "Oh god, I have grandchildren."

"I sense that they are waking up." Professor Xavier said. "I believe you will have to get other it rather quickly, Logan."

"Easy for you to say." Logan said under his breath before the three adults began walking towards the hospital wing.

In the medical room of the school there were two beds that were currently occupied, in one bed a five year old boy had just woken up.

He had a thin body along with black messy hair, he had been placed in a set of light blue pajamas with white stirpes going up and down, his eyes slowly opened to reveal a pair of bright, emerald colored orbs. He raised a hand, partially to rub the sleep out of his eyes but also to shield from the light, once he was sufficiently awake and adjusted to the sudden light, he felt himself get bombarded with several memories of what had happened to him before he found himself in bed.

He snapped out of the bed and landed on his feet, he looked down and frowned at the clothes but decided that it wasn't a big problem. He noticed a brown pair of fluffy slippers next to his feet and assumed that they were for him, he put them on and took a moment to enjoy the feeling of warmth on his feet. He looked around and saw he was in what looked like a hospital room.

"Laura!" He gasped when he saw his twin sister, on a nearby bed. He quickly rushed over to her, she looked just like how he remembered her, a thin face and body along with shoulder length brown hair, she was wearing pajamas like him but her pajamas were pink instead of blue. "Laura!" Harry took one of her hands in his own while using his other hand to shake her awake.

"H...Harry?" She asked in a sleepy voice as her eyelids opened, revealing a pair of brown eyes. "Is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me," Harry smiled briefly before he pulled her to a sitting position. "come on." He said as he reached down and grabbed a pair of slippers identical to his own and placed them on her feet. "We've got to go." Harry said once her slippers were on, he grabbed her hand and pulled her off the bed.

"Where are we?" She asked.

"I don't know but I don't want to stay and find out." Harry said as he pulled her with him to the exit, only to stop when they both saw Professor Xavier, Hank and Logan standing at the exit.

"Well, that's a shame." Professor Xavier said. "I am glad you are both awake." He added.

"What do you want?" Harry growled as he gently guided Laura so she was standing behind him. "Are you going to try and eat us?" He added, looking at Hank.

"Calm down young man," Hank said in a calm voice. "we are not hear to hurt you, or eat you." He asked, he was tempted to be offended but was able to ignore it. He was talking to a scared kid, Hank had heard worse from people much, much older.

"Where are we?!" Harry demanded.

"You are in my school," Professor Xavier answered. "you may have heard of it, 'Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters'. I am Professor Charles Xavier, owner of this school. This is Professor Hank McCoy, he teaches maths and science," he added as he gestured to Hank. "and this gentlemen over here is called Logan." He said as he gestured to Logan. "This is a school for mutants."

"Mutants?" Laura asked in a confused voice.

"People born with special abilities." Hank explained.

"He means freaks." Harry muttered just low enough for Laura to hear.

"No, he doesn't." Logan said, having heard it as well thanks to his enhanced hearing, Logan began moving forward. "Look kids, we just want to..." Logan stopped when Harry and Laura shifted into a defensive stance, looking like animals warning him to not get closer. Two bone claws popped out of each of Laura's hands while three metal claws popped out of each of Harry's.

"I thought his claws weren't supposed to be metal." Xavier whispered to Hank.

"They weren't supposed to be." Hank nodded, still confused about why the boy had metal claws when the girl doesn't and the x-rays say otherwise.

"Stay back." Harry warned, holding his hands up in a way to show that he was ready to attack if Logan got closer.

"Relax kid." Logan said as he held his hands up in front of him to show he was not a threat. "We're not your enemies, we're like you."

"Prove it!" Laura hissed as both kids glared at him.

"If I have to." Logan nodded, he turned his hands so the back of his hands were visible to the kids. He closed his fists and three metal claws popped out of each hand, Laura and Harry took a step back before they looked at Wolverine's claws with wide eyes.

"You're like us?" Laura breathed out, her voice somewhere between disbelieving and hopeful.

"Are you our dad?" Harry asked, his voice had a hint of hope to it as well but was more suspicious.

"No," Logan shook his head as he retracted his claws. "not really, but...we are related."

"So...are you our uncle then?" Laura asked.

"I'm..." Logan coughed and cleared his throat, he took a deep breath and slowly got down to his knees so he could talk to them eye to eye. "I am your grandfather." He said, pausing to look at their reactions. Harry's eyes narrowed, as if he was trying to work out if Logan was lying.

"But...you're not old." Laura pointed in a confused voice.

"No...not yet anyway," Logan said with a small shake of his head. "I have what you would call 'a very advanced healing factor'. I can heal from pretty much anything, it stops me from ageing. I don't really know how old I am." Logan admitted. "Hey, can we...can we put the claws away?" He asked as he gestured to their claws. Laura looked hesitant and looked to Harry, to see what he would do.

"Why should we trust you?" Harry asked, making sure to keep Laura standing behind him.

"We're not going to hurt you, kid." Logan replied.

"The last guy we met said the same thing," Harry snarled. "why should we trust you?"

"They won't hurt you, trust me, kid." A voice said, everyone looked towards the exit and saw Sabretooth enter the room. "He'd rather stab himself with his own claws before even hitting you." Victor said with a roll of his eyes as he gestured to Logan. "Put the claws away, kid." Victor said in a voice that was so soft that Logan almost couldn't believe it came from Sabretooth. Harry looked like he was going to protest for a second but did allow his claws to go back into his hand, Laura took that as her signal to do the same.

"Would I be correct in assuming that you and the children have some history between you?" Professor Xavier asked in a calm voice, as if Sabretooth being here was a regular thing.

"You could say that." Victor said just as Logan stood up and looked at him, Victor gave him a blank look before walking past everyone and stopping in front of the kids. "Look kids, the people in here will look after you. They won't hurt you, I promise. If they do then you feel free to cut them to pieces." Logan snorted in amusement at the last part while Hank and Charles frowned at that part as they had no desire to be cut into pieces.

"So...you're really our grandfather?" Laura asked as she looked at Logan.

"Are you really their grandfather?" Victor raised an eyebrow as he looked at Logan.

"Apparently, or at least I am according to the fur ball." Logan said as he gestured behind him to Hank who simply rolled his eyes at the nickname.

"The tests do show that they are your grandchildren," Hank said. "we will spend some time trying to locate their parents and then we'll go from there."

"But until then, both children are welcome to stay at the institute for as long as they need." Professor Xavier said.

"Grandpa." Victor couldn't help but chuckle when he looked at Logan.

"Shut it." Logan said, though not harshly.

"So what happens now?" Harry asked, looking between all of the adults.

"I'll be going now." Victor announced.

"Don't leave us!" Laura said quickly as she reached forward and grabbed his hand.

"I'm not leaving permanently," Victor reassured her. "I'll be visiting you two every now and then, unless that's a problem?" He asked, directing his question to Logan and Professor Xavier.

"As long as you do not harm anyone while in this building then you may come and go whenever you'd like." Professor Xavier said after a moment of thought. On the one hand Sabretooth could be as vicious as they came, but on the other hand he appeared to have built a bond of some sorts with the children, and that could hopefully be used to keep the man from lashing out at others.

"Hmm...the kids like you," Logan sighed. "so if you want to come then that's fine by me." Victor didn't say anything in response but did give Logan short nod.

"See you later, cubs." Victor said to Harry and Laura before gently extracting his hands out of Laura's, he gave her a small pat on the shoulder and nodded to Harry before turning and leaving. He was never really the sort of person who liked to hug.

"Now," Professor Xavier said to Harry and Laura once Victor was gone. "someone is coming over to bring you some new clothes, you two can get dressed and then she will escort you down so you can have breakfast. Once you're both full then we can go from there, is that acceptable to the both of you?" Laura and Harry looked at each other, the two shared a silent conversation, for a brief moment Professor Xavier wondered if the two were telepathic. Eventually they turned to the Professor and nodded. "Excellent, and...ah, here are the clothes." He said just as a fourth adult arrived, holding some clothes in her arms.

She was a young, beautiful woman dressed in silver high heels, blue jeans and a light blue blouse, though the oddest thing about her was the fact that she had white hair that flowed down to under her shoulders. The hair did not make her look any less attractive as it contrasted nicely against her black dark skin.

"Hello." She said to Harry and Laura with a friendly smile, her voice had a slight accent to it.

"Harry, Laura, this is Ororo Munroe." Professor Xavier said as he gestured to the woman. "Ororo, this is Harry and Laura Potter."

"Twins?" Ororo asked.

"Yes." Professor Xavier nodded.

"Hmm, this one looks like Logan." She noted when she looked at Harry.

"Huh?" Logan blinked.

"Well it's only natural that he looks like his grandfather." Hank said with a small smirk.

"Grandfather?" She blinked as she looked at Logan who suddenly looked very tired.

"It's a long story." He said, his tone and face making it clear that he'd explain later. Ororo looked like she wanted to ask more but settled with nodding to him and giving him a look that said they would definitely be talking about it later.

"Alright, let's get you two changed." Ororo said to Harry and Laura. "Then I'll take you down to get some food." She said right before she shooed the others out.
