Li Shenrong continued to move toward the west. The eastern territory was vast so crossing one region to another took months or even years.
Only Heavenly kings or Saints could cross a region within a day.
For Li Shenrong it was a peaceful and refreshing journey.
"Halt! This is Blue bird kingdom's territory, state your identity!" A man in green robe flew over, he was sitting on a yellow scaled bird, common mount used for flying. He blocked Li Shenrong's path and asked coldly.
Li Shenrong raised his eyebrows while looking upward.
"Li Shenrong, a vagrant cultivator." He replied slowly.
The man in green robe took out a rusty mirror and scanned Li Shenrong with it. Seeing the lack of reaction from the mirror his tone softened as he said. "You are free to go."
Li Shenrong nonchalantly kept walking without paying any heed.
Suddenly a group of people walked over led by a young man. All of them wearing same type of clothes, clearly they were from a certain sect.
The man in green robe jumped down from his mount and bowed his head in greeting.
"Welcome! honored disciples from Scattered wind sect. His majesty had already notified us of your arrival so i was waiting to greet you.
You can call me Situ Wan. Please follow me to the palace and meet his majesty." The green robed man's tone sounded almost like flattering.
The leading young man nodded his head slightly.
"I am Shao Huang, an inner sect disciple." His tone was full of arrogance.
"So its young master Shao, please if you would!" With that said Situ wan led the group somewhere else and flew away.
"The situation in the kingdom is getting worse day by day. Our king even asked help from the Scattering wind sect." A few spectators started discussing among themselves.
"What do you know? I can not even sleep properly at night, afraid of being killed." Someone else sighed ruefully.
"I hope this time it can be solved by them. The king must be feeling truly helpless about it."
Li Shenrong overheard their discussions and walked over.
He pulled a guy next to them and asked. "Brother, what's the situation you are talking about?"
"Ah? You must be from somewhere else. To be honest no one is sure what it is either.
It started two years ago. Every night more than ten people will die gruesomely. The perpetrator couldn't be found no matter how hard everyone tried. Even some palace ministers died.
At first the higher authorities didn't take it seriously but now the whole kingdom is in a state of unrest.
Even palace ministers died and no one could do anything about it. So our King asked help from Scattering Wind sect." The man gave a brief explanation to Li Shenrong.
"Thank you brother." Li Shenrong nodded and thanked him.
"Since you called me brother, i don't want any harm to befall on you. Listen to my advice and leave the Blue bird kingdom." The man said very sincerely.
"I appreciate the gesture of kindness and keep your words in mind." Li Shenrong politely replied with a smile.
The man didn't say anything else.
As Li Shenrong walked deeper into the Blue bird kingdom's territory. His expression became grave and cold.
This aura and energy! It shouldn't exist in this world. Could it be that someone broke the eternal seal?
Although the aura and energy here is far weaker than back at that time but there's no denying it that this world is being contaminated. Li Shenrong's expression was icy cold as he observed the surroundings.
He touched the green leaves on a tree. A gray energy seems to be squirming around his finger. It wanted to dive into his skin and bones. The gray energy was almost indiscernible, no wonder a small kingdom like Blue bird kingdom couldn't do anything.
As Li Shenrong walked he could even see some people's consciousness constantly being devoured by a strange gray energy.
Soon, he entered the Blue bird kingdom's capital. It should be bustling with people but a scene of desolace welcomed him.
Li Shenrong found a tavern, its door was locked tightly but he could hear people's voices inside.
He knocked twice. After the knocking Li Shenrong couldn't hear anymore noises. It was a pin drop silence.
Li Shenrong knocked again.
After a while someone shouted. "Who is it!"
"I want to have a drink." Li Shenrong said.
Someone opened the door slightly and peeked at him. He observed Li Shenrong from head to toe.
"I don't recognise you. Who are you?" He asked in hoarse voice.
"I came from the north side and just arrived at the kingdom. It has been a long journey for me so i wanted to have a drink." Li Shenrong said smilingly.
Still peeking at Li Shenrong from the slightly opened door, the man kept contemplating whether to let him in or not.
"Let him in." Another voice sounded from inside. Hearing it, the man hesitated for a second and opened the door.
After going inside, Li Shenrong could see the tavern was full to the brim.
From old man to young children, people of all ages sat together and everyone stared at Li Shenrong with curious gaze.
He didn't mind their gazes and sat down in a corner nonchalantly.
Each one of their consciousness is being devoured slowly. Looks like the kingdom is on the verge of death. Li Shenrong slowly drank as he thought.
When he first stepped into the capital, he had felt a thick suffocating gray aura. No one could feel or see it except Li Shenrong.
While drinking he was deep in thoughts. A young girl suddenly sat at the chair next to him. Both their gaze met and the girl smiled at him.
Li Shenrong looked at the girl up and down for a bit and started sipping from the glass again. He could see the girl's consciousness hadn't been invaded, something terrifying was protecting her consciousness but her body was being devoured slowly.
