Chapter 2 - The 'heartbroken' family

Friday 7th November, 2010

12:00 a.m

(hours after the accident)

"Breaking News! "

The reporter was currently standing outside one of the largest buildings in Osaka, Japan.

"The C.E.O of Jiand Comelgrates was found dead this morning, authorities suspect a hit and run. We re currently outside of the building to wait for the arrival of her husband and supposedly inheritor of the Jiand Empir-"

The TV was suddenly switched off. In a luxurious apartment, Jiand Xia sat crossed leg on the plush, white couch placed in the middle of the spacious living room. Her golden hair fell behind her back in bountiful curls, the color contrasting heavenly with her amber eyes. The pupils dilated with hate and malice as she stared at the blank screen. The mid-day sunlight seeped through the rich, velvet curtains, its gleaming spikes of gold dust shone upon her curvaceous figure; highlighting her flawless complexion and angelic beauty.

"Good Riddance!"

She spat out-loud, her voice dripping with venom. Jiand Xia despised that woman. There was little to no place in that charred coal of a heart she possessed for her half sister.

"It seems as if you finally found the place you belong dear sister. Six feet under me"

The news of her half- sister's death brought nothing but a feeling of triumph to her corrupted soul. The door slid open, revealing a man in his late twenties. His auburn hair was cropped and framed his handsome face. With a prominent jawline, straight nose and full lips; his chalky terracota eyes stood out the most. The white button up shirt did little to hide the lean figure hidden underneath. His steps were light as he approached the girl, wrapping his sturdy arms around her waist and burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"My sweet Xia~.What has you in such a bad mood this morning?"

His voice was baritone, a deep husky whisper that sent shivers down her spine. Jiand Xia tilted her head to the side as she huffed out

"Who else but that woman? She's the only one able to sour my mood"

Han Zhenlin's eyes flashed with something that couldn't be deciphered before it disappeared again. He sighed and pressed a gentle kiss to her shoulder

"Does Xiotin bother you that much Kanojo?"

The girl turned around and glared at him, her red lips twisted into a sneer

"Never call that whore's name in my presence.understood?"

Han stared at her and sighed again.

"Calm down Xia,I was just saying"

She stared at him before exhaling deeply

"What should we do now? She's dead-"

"What?"

His voice was quiet, but she heard the slight tremor in it. His hold subconsciously loosened as he stared down at the girl in his arms.

"..Dead?....Xia.. you didn't have-"

"Of course not!"

She snapped back at him, her expression portraying her frustration at his accusation.

"I might hate her Han, but I wasn't involved in her death. It was a car accident... a hit and run....and besides,"

She muttered the last part;

"I was with you all night"

Han stared at her for a few seconds before nodding,

"If you say so..but just pray I don't find out about you having anything to do with her death Xia"

She scoffed, her eyes narrowing at the man behind her.

"I may be a bad person but I'm not a monster Han. I wouldn't raise my hand for my sister..even if we are half blood"

He hummed in response. She turned to look at him

"What's with that hum? do you not believe me?"

Han looked at her and shook his head, his expression a bit hesitant before he finally spoke

"Its not that I don't trust you Xia, its just weird how she died the very same night we were together."

Xia sighed and looked away, facing the blank TV screen again.

"I know, I'm just surprised she was in the country, I thought you said she wasn't coming back until next week?"

"That's what she told me. I didn't expect her to be here this early. "

Han sighed once more as he stared down at her, his eye contemplative

"If she really is dead then what about her fortune? has the lawyer contacted you yet?"

"Not yet, but i'm sure he will soon. For now I'll act as a heartbroken sister an you'll fill the role of a grieving husband."

Han nodded at her words. It as important that they act accordingly to not draw suspicion to their relationship. If word got out then the society will never accept them. Although Han had just found out about his wife's death he felt no pity for the woman he was married to. After all, the woman he loved was right here in his arms.
