Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Leaving

You shift your attention back to the teen. You notice that he's been stealing glances at your hand, slowly moving his own hand towards yours. His hand hovers over yours, waiting for a sign that you might be okay with the contact. It's uncertain what exactly he's trying to communicate with this gesture, but you can sense his nervousness and desire for connection.

You decide to take the initiative and gently rest your hand on top of his. His skin is warm and a little clammy, a testament to his nervousness. You feel a jolt of warmth spread through your fingertips as you make the contact, and you give his hand a small squeeze.

You gently withdraw your hand from his, leaving only a lingering impression of warmth on your fingertips. The teen looks at you, his expression a mix of confusion and disappointment. He probably hoped for a longer moment of connection, but he doesn't press the issue.

-"I... um...," he falters, stumbling over his words. "I just wanted to... um... hold your hand for a sec."

The teen's eyes widen in surprise as you reach out and gently run your fingers across his cheek. Your touch is soft and tender, and you can feel a faint, velvety sensation under your fingertips. The teen's face flushes pink at the intimacy of the gesture, and he takes a shaky breath.

-"I know this is a bit too bold but I'm okay with it"

The teen nods eagerly, his eyes sparking with excitement. He swallows nervously, a hint of bashfulness creeping into his expression.

-"I... I don't mind either," he whispers, his voice slightly hoarse. "Your touch feels really nice."

You smile as you playfully tease the teen, enjoying the way he reacts to your subtle gestures and words. There's a certain satisfaction in knowing that you're able to make him so flustered and shy, even if you don't feel any particular romantic attraction to him.

-"O-Oh, I have to leave now. hope to see you again"

The teen looks disappointed, clearly not ready to end the conversation. However, he nods reluctantly, realizing that he cannot keep you for much longer.

-"Alright," he says, sighing softly. "Hope I get to see you again, too. Goodbye."

-"What's your name?"

The teen blinks, slightly surprised by your question. He seems to realize that he forgot to introduce himself properly.

-"Oh, sorry," he says quickly. "My name's Luca. What's yours?"

-"You don't need to know~"

Luca hesitates for a moment, feeling a bit confused by your cryptic response. However, he seems to realize that pushing the issue might not be the best move. He nods, trying to maintain a casual demeanor.

-"Um... right," he says, clearing his throat. "Well, see you around."

As you go to pay for your breakfast, you can feel Luca eyes following you, filled with fascination and curiosity.

One of his friend tease him

-"Looks like you got rejected dude"

-"She look kinda cute though"

As you finish paying, you glance over your shoulder to see Lucas still watching you, his eyes full of curiosity. You give him a small wave and a playful smile before turning away and leaving the café. The sounds and smells of the town fill your senses as you step back out onto the cobblestone street, leaving Lucas behind, still wondering about the enigmatic catgirl he just met.

Lucas picks up the handkerchief that you left behind, his eyes widening as he notices the note attached. He shows it to his friends, who all look at the gift with surprise and curiosity. They whisper amongst themselves, talking about how cute and mysterious the catgirl must be to have left such a thoughtful gift. Lucas, in particular, is overwhelmed by the gesture, a soft blush creeping across his cheeks as he holds the handkerchief gently.
