Chapter 4: Morgan's imaginary enemy

---

The encounter under the moon was a pivotal moment, and everything continued to unfold.

[Morgan kept the secret of your night raid on the princess's bedroom. No one knew that you, a knight, had taken the princess's virginity.]

[She remembered your name and promoted you from among the knights to be her confidant.]

[But you never saw Morgan's sadness like that night, nor did you taste her body again.]

[She deliberately kept a distance from you and never called your name in public. The distance between you seemed forever to remain at the level of a princess and a knight.]

[You were a little sad, but you also knew this was inevitable. Morgan, as a princess, could not admit that she had spent the whole night with you after drinking.]

[Several months passed this way, until one day she sent someone to find you.]

"Lord Knight."

Morgan's maid spoke respectfully to Ian.

"The princess wants to see you about something. She hopes you can come over as soon as possible."

"Really?" Ian turned around. "I see. I'll be there now."

Walking through the corridor of the royal court, Ian stood in front of the door and gently knocked.

"Who is it?" Morgan's voice came from inside.

"It's me, Princess, your knight Ian."

"Come in."

With Morgan's permission, Ian pushed open the door.

Morgan was standing in front of the mirror, arms folded, looking at herself seriously.

"Come here, Ian."

Although he didn't understand what Morgan wanted, obeying the princess's orders was a knight's duty, so Ian slowly walked to Morgan's side.

"Princess."

"Don't look at me, look at the mirror."

The simulation continued at Morgan's command.

[You looked into the mirror and saw a strange yet familiar face.]

[You felt it had some similarities with Morgan, but the characteristics were completely opposite.]

[The scene in the mirror was very unstable and only lasted a short time before disappearing.]

You realized it might be Morgan's magic but said nothing.

"How about it?"

Morgan raised her head and looked at the tall knight beside her.

"What was your first impression of the person you just saw, Ian?"

"My Lady, the so-called first impression is..."

"The first word that comes to your mind," Morgan replied. "Ian, give me the answer now."

"Understood."

Ian replied, looking at the mirror which had returned to normal.

"Then my lady, my answer is you."

"I?"

"Yes, Princess." Ian looked directly at Morgan. "I saw you in that mirror."

The corners of Morgan's mouth rose at first, but soon fell back into gloom.

"Ian, you're lying."

"The person in the mirror is clearly not me."

"Yes, it's definitely not the complete you." Ian did not deny Morgan's words.

"But because I see the part that is similar to you, and I only care about that part, so for me, it is you, and you are it."

"Heh." Morgan sneered.

"Ian, if you say so, as long as there are similarities between me and that person, you will treat that person as me and swear allegiance to them?"

"Is this what you call loyalty?"

"That is not possible," Ian replied. "A knight can only pledge allegiance once, and my pledge is already in your hands, Princess."

[Morgan remained silent at your flawless answer.]

[She gently touched the mirror, causing the previous scene to reappear.]

[She explained that this was magic from her own research.]

[You believed her because you knew she was one of the few magicians in Britain who could challenge Merlin.]

[You asked her who the person in the mirror was, but she replied that she didn't know either.]

[You realized she had created a virtual enemy based on herself, which was why it had such a plausible face.]

"My Lady, why are you doing this?"

Ian looked in the mirror.

"An enemy that does not exist will only cause you trouble and should be wiped out."

"This isn't some non-existent enemy. She..."

Halfway through his words, Morgan realized she had missed something.

She turned her head away and changed the subject: "It has nothing to do with you, Ian. You are just a knight. What you know is decided by me."

"Indeed." Ian apologized. "Princess, please forgive my rudeness."

"..."

"I'm not angry." Morgan, who had adjusted her mood, didn't intend to care further.

"Ian, am I really the only one whose first reaction to seeing the mirror is you?"

"Yes, my lady."

Ian answered without hesitation. This was Morgan's favorite way of answering, symbolizing loyalty and sincerity.

Morgan no longer had the same doubts as before.

She sat down on the edge of the bed and began giving orders like a true king.

"Ian, kneel down."

With just these words, her knight half-knelt on the ground.

This absolute command caused a barely perceptible smile to flash across Morgan's face, but it quickly disappeared.

She opened her thin lips:

"Ian, you didn't tell anyone about what happened that night, did you?"

"I never told anyone about it."

Morgan didn't doubt Ian's words.

After all, if he really told, he might lose his reputation, but he would disappear from British soil.

Morgan lifted her foot slightly.

The slender, white jade foot stepped on Ian's forehead, leaving some marks on the surface of his skin.

Morgan seemed very satisfied with the other party's absolute submission. She continued:

"It seems that you are not completely stupid. At least you know how to save your life."

"But I still want to tell you that to me, you are nothing more than the ashes left by that night of joy, and you can be blown away at any time."

"I don't like you at all, and I definitely won't have any feelings for you because I don't need something like that getting in the way."

"Ian, tell me you understand this."

"Yes, I completely understand what you mean, Princess."

"This is what I have to bear."

[Morgan is very satisfied with your obedience as a knight, which seems to make her feel something untouchable.]

[But this is not the only reason she called you here.]

[She pulled out a sword from the darkness, with her name engraved on it.]

[She thrust the blade into your side.]

[You realize she might want you to do something again.]
