Chapter 6: You will become a mean blade
---
[Every word Morgan said was engraved on your heart.]
[Although you have never seen King Vortigern, judging by the havoc he and his army wreak across Britain, he is no ordinary person.]
[You realize this is a mission with no chance of success.]
[Morgan's behavior is no different from sending you to your death.]
However, even after realizing this, Ian did not hesitate.
He responded to Morgan with only a few words:
"I understand, Princess."
Morgan looked at Ian kneeling before her, his deep blue eyes rarely revealing his inner emotions.
But there was still no excitement, only doubt.
"Ian, do you think you can do this?"
"No." Ian shook his head. "Although I have never seen Vortigern, I know he will be a powerful enemy."
"Then why didn't you refuse me?"
"No knight would refuse an order from someone he has sworn allegiance to," Ian answered without hesitation. "My lady, I am no exception."
"But what if we never come back?" Morgan looked at the knight kneeling in front of her.
"Then it will be gone forever."
[Morgan is silent.]
[She originally intended to do the opposite, to mock your cowardice, to make you competitive and take on the task, but she never thought you were far more loyal than she imagined.]
[You agreed without even asking yourself what to do.]
[She chose to trust your loyalty. This is the first time she has done so.]
"Come with me, Ian."
Morgan stood up.
"I allow you to bathe in front of me."
It was dusk, and the corridors of the royal court were bathed in golden light. Everything was as beautiful as the scenes sung in poems.
Ian looked at all this and felt vaguely dazed—he realized he had not been exposed to the outside world for a long time.
"Ian, do you like it here?" Morgan, who was walking in front, suddenly spoke.
"Yes, my lady."
"I like it too." Morgan reached out to catch a falling leaf and smiled rarely. "So if I have the chance, I would like to stay here forever and let the glory of Britain shine on it."
"Your wish will come true, Princess."
"…"
Morgan seemed to come to her senses in an instant, and she put away her smile.
"I hope you're right."
Morgan poked the leaf in her hand into Ian's mouth little by little.
"Ian, swallow it and pretend you didn't see anything."
Morgan felt a little better as she looked at the knight who obeyed her orders.
Morgan wasn't kidding.
[She did take you to a bathhouse that only the royal family can use.]
[She sent everyone away except you, and now there were only two of you here.]
[She asks you to take off your armor and enter the bath.]
You realize she's about to start talking about her plan.
"Ian."
Morgan sat by the bathing area and gently dipped her feet in the pool water—this was water that had been cast with a special magic spell and was clean all year round.
"What do you think betrayal is?"
As she said this, she pressed her feet against Ian's strong chest.
The clear pool water slid down Ian's chest and slowly flowed back into the bath.
"To me, betrayal means disobeying your orders and going against your will." Ian replied respectfully.
"Oh, that's the answer you can give."
Morgan's feet moved up Ian's chest to his neck.
To be honest, if someone else did this, Ian would directly think they were seducing him.
But Morgan was the only one who couldn't let him have such thoughts.
He never really received her love.
There was only physical pleasure.
"But I'm telling you, this is wrong."
"True betrayal requires that person to fully value you, but I won't value you. You are a chess piece that I can throw away at any time."
"So, your perception is completely wrong. You can betray anyone, but you can't betray me."
[You are not disappointed because Morgan has emphasized to you many times that she does not value you.]
[After she pressed her toes on your lips, you heard her plan.]
[She decided to let you approach the humble King Vortigern as a wandering knight who hates Britain, and gain his attention.]
[You will become a sharp blade that Morgan has buried beside Vortigern. You will betray this humble king who has wreaked havoc on Britain at the most critical moment and stab him in the throat.]
[She firmly believes that this despicable method suits you very well and you will deal a heavy blow to Vortigern.]
[Also, she has something else to give you.]
Swish.
The sword is unsheathed.
Morgan took out a blade—she seemed to have been preparing it for a long time.
"Ian, do you remember it?"
"Yes." Ian nodded, "This is your sword, but..."
Ian remembered that the last time he saw this blade, Morgan's name was engraved on it, but now that place was empty.
And Morgan had already predicted what Ian would think.
She gently ran her hand over the sword, and a line of carved names appeared on it.
"I used magic to hide it in the sword. You don't have to doubt it too much. It is still the same sword."
"But, Ian." Morgan looked directly at the knight whose forehead she had stepped on. "I command you, no matter the circumstances, to use this sword when assassinating Vortigern."
Although he had many doubts in his mind, Ian had already understood that he had no right to ask any questions.
"Understood, Princess."
[In the following time, you and Morgan did not mention this matter again.]
She brings wine, and orders you to drink it.
[She looks at you drinking, her expression is very complicated.]
[You sensed some hope from her, but you didn't know why that thought came about.]
[She pours you glass after glass of wine and drinks it herself.]
"There is no time to lose. You should leave here tonight when the moon is full."
Morgan, who was slightly tipsy, said to Ian.
"I have arranged everything for the journey, and after you leave, you will be charged with the crime of killing two fellow knights."
Morgan didn't intend to give Ian any way out.
When the moon rose, he was doomed to never be able to return to the royal court in a normal way.
But facing all this, Ian still just accepted it calmly:
"As you command, Princess."
[Under the moon, Morgan watched you go away.]
[The princess stood on the city wall and watched for a long time, until you turned into a dot on the horizon and completely disappeared from her sight.]
[She found that she seemed to be somewhat uncomfortable with the feeling of no one kneeling in front of her.]
