Electra's pov
To say I'm surprised they didn't detain me would be an understatement.
Heading out the gate and down the road. When I felt I couldn't possibly move any more, A tall, white, two-story building came into view. It was at that moment that a beautiful red head came out; she stood just over five feet. Headlight brown eyes, She looked over, seeing me at the end of what looked to be a retail parking lot. "Oh my God, darling, are you alright?" The female asked. "Let's get you inside." She grabbed me by the arm, gently leading me inside. The bottom floor was converted into a café—well, there was one. It seemed it had closed down. Upon entering, to the right were two recliners. Along the wall, with a small table in between them. Directly on the other side of the second recliner. There was a cherry wood book shelf. Full of books. About ten feet to the right of the recliners. There were 12 small tables. Spread out about every ten feet around the room. There was a cherry wood staircase leading up the stairs, with a 10-foot space to the counter. At the end of the counter was the opposite wall. With a display case. That held donuts or pastries at some point. It looked like it led to the kitchen.
Two months later
"You want me to do what?" Since the day I waddled into Sage's parking lot. We have been inseparable. I have stayed here upstairs with her. Now she wants to leave and have me live here. And reopen the café. Which is a great opportunity. I just feel like I'm taking advantage of her. "I want you to live upstairs and reopen the café. I am moving, and I was going to have to sell it." Sage answered. "I don't have money.". I protested. She scoffed. In her typical sassy attitude. Did I ask you for money?" She gave me her evil eye. "No, no, I asked you to live here and reopen the café. I will take care of the orders once we start to make money again. You can take over the orders for which you are receiving a set salary. It helps us both, as I will have someone to run things here. You will have a new start and a place to stay. You'll be my cousin, Elena." She smiled. Handing me a license that has a picture of me but with red hair. It read Elena Vicente. I smiled. "I guess this means I have to dye my hair," I replied. "EEEh," she squeaked and hugged me. I giggled, hugging her back. "Oh, I almost forgot,"" she pulled back. Handing me a bag. I made a face and opened it. Seeing a pregnancy test. "I'm not pregnant," I huffed. For the past 4 weeks, she's been telling me I'm pregnant. "Pee on that." I frowned. "Oh, you shouldn't have," I teased. She giggled. "I'm telling you you are pregnant. And if that's the case, we have to be careful how we go about your hair. I rolled my eyes. Taking the test and moving to the bathroom.
Once I was finished, I put the cap back on, setting it on the sink to wash my hands while waiting. Then my heart dropped as the two dark lines appeared. "Oh no." I gasped.... Suddenly, my throat felt as if it had closed up. And my legs felt as if they had turned jelly. As I hit the floor,. She opened the door, and she sighed softly. Only to get on the ground to pull me into a hug. "It will be okay," Sage whispered. "No, it won't , he will kill the baby or take it." My reply threw her off for a second. "No, he won't; I have this place cloaked. The necklace you gave your head masks scent." She assured me, I just held on to her.
After two months of training, it was time for Sage and me to call the old staff to see who was still interested in working at the newly named café. Honestly, I was shocked to find all the employees she had previously wanted back on the schedule."Alright, girly, you got this!" Sage retorted as we walked out to her car. This caused me to frown. If I said I didn't, would you stay?" I teased. She chuckled. "I can't, but I will call and visit so often you'll get sick of me," she smiled. After setting her bag in the open trunk, I turned to hug her. "Be safe." I
"You too, girl," she smiled.
Watching the car disappear down the road, I sighed and went inside.
3 a.m. came way too fast the next morning. After dressing in a long-sleeve dress shirt, black pants, and black non-slip shoes, my now crimson-red hair is up in a bun. Putting in my brown contacts, I then moved down the stairs to let the group gathered at the door in.
Among the group were Mayson and his mate and another couple. I didn't catch their name. My eyes met Mayson's, and my heartbeat sped up as I felt like I had lost four shades of color in my face. As fear seeped into my veins, they looked confused, and his mate looked furious, thinking I was checking him out. I cleared my throat. "Good morning, everyone." I tried seeing things in a different direction. Forcing a smile and stepping to the side to let them in.Trying quickly to change the subject. "I'm Elena." I smiled. They watched me as if I were a puzzle that they could not figure out. "Mason, this is my... um, wife Paige. Axyl and his wife Alice, and that's Jeremy." I smiled. "Nice to meet you all." Shall we get started.? "Your positions are exactly the same, so just do what you did before," I said before going to the little room to the side, It was the office. Starting with counting out the drawer as they started on their tasks. I felt eyes on my back but didn't turn to see who it was.
I came out and put the drawers in. The whispering among the girls stopped. They watched me almost as if they couldn't decide how they felt.
Soon, coffee was brewed, and everything was set.
The bell rang over the door, and a tall male. With brown hair milk chocolate brown eyes ,as he walked in. My attention turned to him as our eyes met. I felt something in the pit of my stomach. It was an odd sensation that I had never felt before.
