Huo Siyu looked at Fang Ze with icy detachment.
The sound of police cars grew from distant to near, the shopkeeper had called the cops; in cases like catching an affair, damaging property was one thing, but if people were injured, the shopkeeper would also be implicated.
Shen Li breathed a sigh of relief; the intervention of a third party, at the very least, eased the tense atmosphere. Soon after, two police officers arrived and took Fang Ze away. As for Huo Siyu, nobody dealt with him.
"Huh..." Shen Li unconsciously let out a breath and released Huo Siyu; Fang Ze had been taken away by the police, and since he hadn't actually done anything wrong, he would surely be released quickly. Had he not been taken, and instead caused a conflict with Huo Siyu, the consequences were unimaginable.
"Do you think he's safe just like that?" Huo Siyu suddenly spoke, his dark pupils staring straight at Shen Li.
Shen Li was startled by his gaze, those pitch-black eyes devoid of any warmth, calm like the glaciers of the Arctic. She withdrew instinctively, but Huo Siyu grasped her arm, uttering, "Where else do you think you're going?"
She was half-pushed, half-pulled into the Rolls-Royce while an assistant entered the shop to compensate for the damages. The back seat of the car was extremely spacious and the front and back were completely isolated, making the rear seat feel like a secluded space.
"I have nothing to do with Fang Ze. We're just high school classmates. He hasn't done anything to me..." Shen Li hurriedly explained. Huo Siyu spoke coldly, "Are you pleading for that adulterer?"
Shen Li was taken aback and quickly waved her hands, saying, "No, that's not it... I just..."
"You're still pleading for him, even now. Do you love him that much? So much that you disregard even yourself?" Huo Siyu said, increasing his grip. Shen Li cried out in pain, yelling, "It hurts, it hurts..."
"Hurts? I thought you weren't afraid of anything," Huo Siyu said, but he lightened his grasp.
Shen Li said, "He's just a normal classmate."
"Still making excuses until now; is there even a single truth in your mouth?"
"I'm not lying...," Shen Li anxiously said, adding, "I really am just normal classmates with Fang Ze. He has nothing to do with me."
"Still pleading for him, I see," Huo Siyu snorted coldly and looked at Shen Li's tense face, especially her eyes, which showed not even a speck of joy at seeing him; all her thoughts centered on that other man. He hadn't even spent New Year's at home, instead coming to see her, and this was the greeting he received.
"I..." Shen Li began, but seeing Huo Siyu's increasingly indifferent face, she didn't dare to continue.
