Chapter 4: Skydream Iceworm
"Hmm?"
Du Busi was slightly taken aback but quickly regained his composure and nodded gently. It was normal for children to be playful, and with a powerful guardian like himself, a level ninety-eight expert, there shouldn't be any problems. After all, he was not like Xuanzi, the Supreme Elder of the Holy Spirit Cult, and famously known as the Joyful Drumstick Douluo. If Du Qianjue got into trouble under his protection, he would have no problem offering his head as a chamber pot for that Joyful Drumstick.
"One more thing, if a large silkworm baby appears in front of me later, Uncle, please don't come over," Du Qianjue added. "I can't explain the reason, but please trust me."
Silkworm baby...
Du Busi's mouth twitched. He was puzzled by Du Qianjue's strange words, but since Du Qianjue insisted, he couldn't say much more and nodded in agreement.
Having reached an understanding with Du Busi, Du Qianjue calmly walked into the Star Dou Forest. Considering Du Qianjue didn't have a soul ring or any attack capabilities yet, Du Busi also gave him a sword for self-defense. It wasn't a soul guide weapon but a well-made, ordinary weapon.
The members of the Ontology Sect had always looked down on soul guide devices, a belief that a kid like Du Qianjue couldn't change. Moreover, according to the original timeline, in about twenty years, the Sun and Moon Empire would wage war against the three nations of the original Douluo Continent. In such a short time, Du Qianjue wouldn't be able to develop soul guide devices from scratch for the Ontology Sect due to a lack of time, resources, and talent.
Looking at the iron sword in his hand, which had no soul power fluctuations, Du Qianjue couldn't help but sigh.
This was the shortsightedness of native soul masters. Only a few understood that soul guide devices were the future. Even after battle armors and mechas appeared, they were still derived from soul guide devices, making soul guide devices crucial for future developments.
Du Qianjue knew he had to learn about soul guide devices himself, but he didn't plan to create battle armors. It took too much time. He'd rather focus on becoming a god. In the third installment of the series, those without soul bones resorted to creating battle armors, but Du Qianjue preferred to assemble a set of god-level soul bones for better results.
Lost in thought, Du Qianjue shook his head and continued walking through the Star Dou Forest, remaining vigilant. He soon encountered a ten-year soul beast.
A Tiger Demon Cat.
This soul beast had a weak bloodline and could only hunt at the forest's edge. If it ventured deeper, it would quickly become prey for stronger beasts.
However, it had now set its sights on Du Qianjue.
With his body martial soul, Du Qianjue's senses were sharper than those of ordinary people. He immediately sensed malice when the Tiger Demon Cat targeted him.
Glancing subtly around, he spotted a pair of faintly glowing eyes in the nearby bushes. Though not very noticeable, in this environment, they were easy to detect, especially with the eyes filled with a beast's hunger for its prey.
Du Qianjue's right hand moved slightly, gripping the sword hilt as he pretended not to notice and walked towards the Tiger Demon Cat. In reality, his muscles were already tense and ready.
This was his first real fight. No matter how many video games he played or novels he read in his past life, this was different. This was also why he wanted to enter the Star Dou Forest alone—to adapt early, since he might have to kill people in the future.
His eyes narrowed slightly, showing a sharp look. The roles of hunter and prey had reversed. The Tiger Demon Cat thought Du Qianjue was its prey, but it had already fallen into his trap, with no escape route.
Three meters away, a sharp screech came from the Tiger Demon Cat. It wasn't announcing its presence but intended to scare Du Qianjue, hoping to kill him while he was panicking.
Prepared for this, Du Qianjue didn't get startled. He quickly sidestepped, perfectly avoiding the pounce, and his soul power-imbued sword slashed towards the Tiger Demon Cat's head.
The two separated. Du Qianjue's trembling right hand gripped the sword tightly, watching the Tiger Demon Cat warily.
"Still a bit nervous," Du Qianjue smiled wryly. How did those transmigrators in stories become cold-blooded killers immediately? How long did they spend staring at supermarket shelves? He was nervous just fighting a ten-year soul beast, let alone humans.
The Tiger Demon Cat twitched on the ground, blood gushing from its neck. Shortly, a light white soul ring emerged from its body.
Only then did Du Qianjue relax. It was known in Douluo Continent that a soul beast was truly dead if a soul ring appeared.
Confirming the Tiger Demon Cat's death, Du Qianjue didn't linger. Most soul beasts were carnivores, and the blood would quickly attract predators. He didn't want Du Busi to rescue him so soon; it would be too embarrassing.
"Finally, a human with a spirit-type martial soul! Too bad I can't cry, or I'd be in tears!"
At this moment, a strong spiritual wave appeared. Though it didn't speak, the spiritual communication was clear, and Du Qianjue easily understood the message.
"It's finally here!" Du Qianjue smiled, waiting for the Skydream Iceworm to appear.
Ahead, the ground split open, and a chilling aura spread, covering the forest in dense white fog.
It was one of the rare million-year soul beasts of Douluo Continent, and the weakest—Skydream Iceworm!
"Wow! What a big silkworm baby!" Du Qianjue shouted in 'surprise.'
The Skydream Iceworm was stunned.
Du Busi, hiding in the shadows, was also stunned.
"Is this the silkworm baby Qianjue mentioned?" Du Busi squinted, not making a move but staying ready. He sensed this soul beast was extraordinary.
