Chapter 9: The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
"Sect Master, are you going to break through to that level?" Jinpeng was initially startled but then overjoyed.
"That's right. This time, I'm going out to find the opportunity to break through to the ultimate level. It might take a year, or maybe three to five years. If I succeed, I will return," Du Busi nodded. "In my absence, you will act as the Sect Master until I return. If my soul lamp goes out, you will inherit the position of Sect Master and pass it to Qianjue once he reaches the Soul Douluo level or inherits the Ontology Seed."
"But, elder brother, this..." Jinpeng looked anxious and hesitated. "Could there be danger in this journey?"
"Breaking through is never smooth. If I fall, it won't be surprising," Du Busi maintained his calm expression, stroking his beard.
"Alright," Jinpeng nodded reluctantly.
Du Busi trusted Jinpeng completely. They had known each other for nearly two hundred years, and their relationship went beyond mere sect roles; they were life-and-death brothers.
"After I leave, please take care of Qianjue."
"Don't worry, elder brother."
...
High in the sky, a dark green streak shot through the clouds, leaving a straight trail behind. It was Du Busi.
With his level ninety-eight cultivation and the Ontology Sect being close to the Sunset Forest, Du Busi quickly arrived at the forest's center.
It was peculiar that the Ontology Sect, despite being near the Sunset Forest for thousands of years, had never shown any interest in it. Just a bit deeper exploration would reveal the terrifying green-scaled toxic cloud and the vast array of green-scaled seven-jewel and nine-jewel flowers beneath it.
Even if others ignored it, why hadn't the toxin-focused brothers, Du Busi and Du Busi, explored this place? It was strange.
When Du Qianjue described the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to Du Busi, he was surprised to learn that such a place existed near Tian Dou City. Du Qianjue had asked why the Sunset Forest hadn't been explored, and Du Busi explained that he had never paid attention to it, dismissing it subconsciously. If Du Qianjue hadn't mentioned it, Du Busi wouldn't have realized there was anything unusual.
Oh, my great Tang San, you truly are something...
Back to the present, Du Busi couldn't help but drool upon reaching the toxic cloud. What was poison to others was a great tonic to him. Refining this cloud could significantly enhance his life-threatening poison!
But Du Busi didn't rush. Du Qianjue had arranged everything for him.
With a surge of dark green soul power, Du Busi transformed into a streak of light, tearing through the toxic cloud and entering the valley below.
Upon landing, Du Busi was greeted by a strong sulfur smell, confirming he was in the right place. He then saw the red and white lake at the valley's center.
The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well!
Du Busi's eyes focused as he scanned the surroundings.
Du Qianjue had detailed the place's history and emphasized the potential presence of a god's will, which might kill to keep the place secret. If triggered, survival would be nearly impossible.
Other than that, the area posed no danger as long as one didn't touch the central red and white lake. The surrounding herbs weren't a threat to Du Busi, a level ninety-eight Super Douluo.
Du Busi walked through the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, his eyes filled with greed at the sight of various medicinal herbs.
The Ontology Sect focused heavily on developing the body, which inevitably caused some damage. Thus, they highly valued rare herbs. The herbs here could sustain the sect for thousands of years!
Despite the temptation, Du Busi restrained himself, focusing on his primary target.
"The Delicate Silk Immortal... a big pink talking flower... the Immortal Orchid..."
Du Qianjue had told him that while the Delicate Silk Immortal didn't detoxify, it had unparalleled poison resistance. As a hundred-thousand-year soul beast, its cultivated Immortal Orchid was the essence of this herb. Consuming the Immortal Orchid would prevent backlash from his life-threatening poison.
This herb was highly coveted by both Dugu Bo from a thousand years ago and Du Busi now.
"Found it!"
Du Busi's face lit up as he saw a three-meter-tall pink flower with no leaves, supported by a single straight stem.
"Hmm? A human?" The Delicate Silk Immortal trembled, and a pleasant but puzzled female voice emerged.
"How can a human be here? Are you that person's descendant?"
Du Busi ignored its questions, walking forward expressionlessly. Suddenly, his level ninety-eight soul power burst forth, enveloping the entire Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well in a terrifying pressure.
"How can such a powerful human be here?" The Delicate Silk Immortal wilted, stuttering, "Human, I warn you, if you harm us, that person will punish you!"
"Give me the Immortal Orchid," Du Busi demanded calmly, unaffected by its words.
"No!" The Delicate Silk Immortal refused outright.
"Hmm?" Du Busi's eyes widened, his dark green soul power gathering in his fist, exuding a menacing aura.
"I'll give it to you! Don't hurt me!" The Delicate Silk Immortal immediately relented, trembling as it produced a dark purple orb from its bud.
"Can I keep half?"
"Hand it over!" Du Bus Busi hi grabbed the Immortal Orchid and stored it in his soul guide device.
"And you two, the Fiery Delicate Apricot and the Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid, hand over your treasures, or I'll take them myself!" Du Busi commanded, glancing at the two herbs at the center of the springs.
"Human, don't force us into a life-or-death struggle!" The Fiery Delicate Apricot shrieked in a sharp voice.
The Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid, however, wisely sent a multi-faceted ice crystal towards Du Busi.
"Good," Du Busi nodded in approval.
