The day of the hearing was finally here...
Jace and Lexa walked into Jace's car with anxiousness and curiousness written all over their faces, just after saying a short prayer. They had longed for this Day to come, and here it was finally. Lexa couldn't hide her excitement, just yesterday she was tortured, starved and beaten up by her supposed husband, and here she is today in her way to get her freedom and Justice. All this was happening only because of this man by her side, what in earth would she have done without him?. What if Max her dog hadn't run into him that Saturday morning, what if he was never part of her life, what would have been of her? She thought as she glanced at Jace with facial appreciation written over her before resting her head on his shoulder.
Walking hand in hand into the court, as the duo notice the presence of the Edwardos and Lady Hazel. Don Raynolds was absent due to the emergency he had to attend to out of states.
"Mom..." Lexa yelled as she ran to her mother after sighting her from a distance.
"Leave my sight this moment!..you are not my child, you are too ungrateful to call me mom, so please leave!" Lady Hazel fired at Lexa before walking to the front row, as Lexa stood in awe of betrayal and embarrassment.
"It's alright, don't dwell on it. We'll overcome this." Jace whispered to Lexa as he held her hands directing her on where to sit.
______________
They all rose as the Judge walked into the hall. Tension filled the atmosphere the moment the police men walked into the hall with Cameron at their middle, his hands were handcuffed to this back. Lexa grew cold feet as her heart beat faster the moment Cameron stopped halfway opposite her and looked directly into her eyes with a wicked smile. Jace noticed the way Cameron stared at Lexa as she shivered, he quickly held her hands as he looked directly at Cameron and smiled broadly...
The cases were presented to the Judge as both Lexa's and Cameron's lawyers began their debate.
Jace's lawyer Attorney Robinson spoke with so much seriousness and courage, every word he said was detailed and with detailed explanation. He also made mention of the divorce Lexa filed against Cameron, which he vehemently refused to sign in police custody. This made Cameron's lawyer become anxious and nervous. Cameron's lawyer, not wanting to show his nervousness, looked very stern and serious as he spoke with so much confidence, unfortunately for him, his fellow legal practicioner countered every point he made with very detailed evidence. Attorney Robinson submitted all material evidenced and the footage of Cameron abusing Lexa to the Judge.
After what seemed like 3 hours of both lawyers defending their clients, evidences were brought by Attorney Robinson but the other lawyer had no solid evidence to prove his points neither did he had any footage to support his case. Cameron and his family were shocked to the bones as to how Lexa and Jace were able to provide evidences.
"They came prepared, this people are really bent on bringing my son down. No...I can't let this happen!." Don Edwardo whispered to his wife beside him as he fumed with anger.
The case was adjourned for the next two weeks. On the day the two weeks elapses and they return to court, the witnesses will be presented and the judge will decide if Cameron was guilty or not. The case was
closed for the day as everyone stood while the Judge walked out.
The hall slowly became rowdy and empty as everyone kept talking while walking out.
Jace and Lexa cheered as they approached their lawyer, taking turns in embracing him. They hailed him for the courage he displayed as he assured them of 90% victory.
"I hope all the witnesses are ready and still willing to testify. In two weeks time, we are sure of bringing victory home. Prepare your houses and minds, this round has already proven us fifty percent victorious, as our opponents couldn't produce any reasonable evidence to support their case. Congratulations in advance" Attorney Robinson said with a smile as he shook Jace before leaving.

Different thoughts kept running through Lady Hazel's mind as she walked out of the court room to the car park. Confusion, doubts, agitation and worry could be seen all over her.
"Is Lexa right about her allegations towards Cameron?. Has she been really saying the truth all this while, was everything the lawyer said right?. Was Lexa really tortured?.Did my child not connive with he ex just to run away from her responsibilities as a wife?. Was Lexa really beaten, starved and abused?, Did Cameron really treat my only daughter like a slave?, Was she really suffering?, Did Cameron really lock her up for twenty four hours without food and called her a slut?....No! No!..that can't be true, it can't be possible. That lawyer was just lying to everyone of us so he could frame Cameron. Cameron can't do that to her child, she's indeed very sure Cameron loves Lexa very much, he can't possibly treat her in such manner....
But why couldn't Cameron's lawyer defend him with evidences the same way Lexa's lawyer did?. Were does evidences fake?, Is Jace really doing all this to get back at them for not letting him marry their daughter?".
Lady Hazel thought deep and hard as she couldn't get answers to her troubling questions. Her head ached as she tried to connect the dots.
Cameron and Lexa were always happy, jovial and all smily whenever she visited, so how could this be ....She thought.
