Chapter 75 - Chapter 75. Feign

"As for your you first mission, you are not going to receive normal mission as we have realized from your capabilities. You are going to receive missions according to your ranks. There are seven ranks which determine the mission you can or cannot take.

"The seven ranks are as follows;Nickel, Aluminum, Steel, Bronze, Silver, Gold. The first rank is called a member where one receives a membership card into the organization.

"From your rank, you can access some mission that are not for the Bronze rank. The missions of the bronze rank are in the screen. Remember that you should always avail yourself whenever called upon unless with a proper reason," the manager said and Marx nodded.

He looked at the first mission and scrolled to the next one. He scrolled to the last one which had the highest pay, 500A. The mission involved an assassination of a member of a Mafia organization in the city.

He was not just an ordinary member but was ranked close to the gang leader. The details of the person including his home and work hours were given by the side. He clicked the mission but it failed first.

He raised his head and looked at the manager.

"The mission is currently impossible for those of the Bronze Rank. It is going to be moved to the Silver Rank," the manager said. Marx looked at the manager intently and he sighed.

" Alright... You will have to complete it within one week because the mission will be moved then. If moved, you will be stripped of its rights. Do you think you can accomplish it within one week?" The manager asked.

Marx reread the details of the mission and also about the man's security. It was even possible for him to complete the mission the same night.

"Yeah. I will be taking my leave," Marx said standing up. He left leaving the manager making a call.

On his way out, Marx received complicated gazes. It seemed that his action had neen spread to all of them. But he did not care about that to begin with. As long as no one interfered with him, he did not any qualms with them.

He walked towards the elevator and then pressed the button to the top. He came out at a completely different place. It was where he would least expect it. It was a phone booth.

One could wonder why a phone booth of all creations but the secrets of the creators could not just be revealed to anyone. Not that he cared about the location of the entrances or exits. All he cared about was the money he could gain from the mission.

He was benning to rethink the currency. It seemed that the small numbers did not just symbolize something was cheap. When he saw how difficult it was to earn the 500A, he realized why the mall thought that he was out of his mind.

Marx got out from the phone booth and started walking towards the direction he thought that he could find the person. The details stated that he usually had a group of around thirty to protect him.

He was very valuable to the Mafia group and he held secrets that could bring them down. It was also possible that it was the same organization that was trying to get rid of him. Marx had almost laughed at the age of the man who was 500 years old.

He could have an easier time if he knew where he was. The problem was that he knew no one. Also, there was no one walking around at that time of the night. He also needed to change his clothes.

But how could he? He knew that there was someone following him. It seemed The Viper's Creed was still cautious towards him. They were also not going to let him go after all the damage he had caused them.

Marx decided to get away of the person who was following him. Or maybe he could just kill them and give them a warning. He thought for a while and decided to follow this line of thought.

He started running heading towards an alleyway. He could see the heat signatures of the guy running after him. Marx smiled and when he got to the alleyway, he activated Lightless.

The person who was running after him stopped at the alleyway and started running forward. He could not just let the guy escape. What he could not understand was how the elder had found out he was being followed.

He cursed and continued running. He stopped when he felt the hair on the back of his neck rise. Instinctively, he skidded on his knees and rolled to face behind him. He cursed and quickly removed a pistol from his waist.

He raised his head and saw the man materialize from the wall or so he thought. Without second guessing, he started shooting at the man. But it was like his bullets could be predicted. The man evaded his bullets until the mag was empty.

"You have a lot of guts following me," Marx said and chuckled.

"You are misunderstanding this," the guy defended but it was like a fools errand. Then why had he shot back?

"Any last words?" Marx asked as he raised his fist and pointed at the guy once again.

But Marx could have never thought that this guy would be able to dodge the bullets. If he did not have the helmet, one could see him grinning. His night had just turned to be extemporary fun.

Without even more words, the guy who had just stood up seemed to have the same thoughts as Marx. They both charged at each other covering the distance of twenty meters in seconds. They both were in the same organization thus their stats could probably be the same.

All that was required was timing here. Both fists collided here but none of them seemed affected as they punched with the other fist. They blocked the fists of the opponent and Marx could not help but grin wider.

He had been used to fighting people who were far down his league and for the first time he felt he had met someone who could at least fight back. In real sense, to Marx, this man was already dead. He was wearing a green mask and his hair was black.

The two separated and the guy felt like he stood a chance against the elder. But if he could see the look behind the helmet, he would shudder. Marx had just tested the waters and they were not as deep.

The two once again charged at each other but this time, the guy was instantly on the backfoot. The reason was simple. He could trace Marx's fists but they were just a blur to him. He ended up in defensive mode.

Just when he thought that he was getting to trace the punches, a fist coming as an uppercut faster than the rest came into his vision. He blocked the fist with both hands by pushing it downwards with both hands but that was where he made his first mistake because he had left hundreds of openings.

He was still on the verge of blocking the first punch when another one came for his belly. No matter his speed, there was no way he was going to block that one. He just shifted his body to reduce the damage.

But to his shock, Marx retracted the fist at twice the speed he was punching with and used three times the original speed to punch. This time, the fist was aimed at a vital organ, the Left kidney. The guy was still on the verge of shifting his body when he reailized that the first attack was a feign. A fake!

He was forced to receive punch that sent his body to more pain than he had expected. His inside hurt and he spat a mouthfull of blood. But he had failed in the battle. The moment he decided to concentrate on the pain.

Marx once punched at the guy. The guy had just seen through his attack and he waited for Marx to withdraw the fist then he would evade. But this was his mistake. Letting the enemy have an opening. The punch had been aimed at his heart.

The guy watched with horror as the fist reached his chest and punched at his heart. It was not a feign but an original! There were several broken bones and he felt like his heart stopped. The pain assaulted his chest as his nose bled. Even his lungs had been hurt in the process.

His eyes were wide open as he fell on his knees. He did not even realize that he had been shot right above his heart. Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth as he fell sideways. His eyes showed regret. He knew that this was an elder yet he had foolishly taken the mission.

He really deserved nothing but death. These were his last thoughts as his life slipped away.

"You had a bright future ahead of you. Next time make the right decision," Marx said as he activated Flame Hurtle. He burned the body to nothingness with a blue flame.

He then picked the pistol and put it to his inventory. He had the system scan for any evidence left and after it was confirmed, he springed himself upwards and did a tornado kick spinning three times and on the fourth time, a straight laser shot from his foot. Piercing through the houses its destination?...
